Most of my comments below confirm what others have written about this lens. No auto-focus but as others have mentioned, keeping it set to near infinity does the trick for most shots. Likewise, for the price I was very surprised at how well built it truly is… no issue getting it on or off my cameras either. The colours produced are likewise impressive and it really gives a proper 180 degree view… so much so that I need to be more aware of the neckstrap and my hands and feet when shooting. I used to own the Pentax 10-17 and this Bower/Samyang/Rokinon lens has reminded me what fun can be had playing with the distortion and extreme perspective.

You have to like fisheye photographs to own one of these so one should consider the cost/quality when considering. Optical quality is fair but better than the Olympus bodycap fisheye which I also own, but the image from the Bower is a true fisheye while the Olympus delivers more moderately bowed image.

This one has no electronics so not only is it a fully manual lens but your camera will always ask about focal length when starting up. The Bower is apparently the same as both the Rokinon and Samyang with a different name. I don't know if these other more expensive lenses "talk" to the camera for the extra money.

I almost returned this one, but I've been having too much fun with it on balance.

Wow!. I am impressed by the small size and lighht weight. And it is a good picture taker as well. Compared to my Ulympus Zuiko 8mm fisheye (which is full size 4/3) the Bower is about one quarter the size and weight. and I remembr the monster Hasselblad fisheye I used to have.

M43 2X crop needs WIDE lens. This lens works great paired with de-fish software. Very sharp, very solid build. Manual focus no problem since used for landscape most often. No issues.

This is a great fun lens on my Lumix GH3 and on my Panasonic AF100, especially for shooting video with that fisheye look. For an amazing price, it does just what it should do - and does it well. Due to the bulging front element, don't plan on putting a UV filter on it, gonna have to just baby it and keep that front element clean and scratch-free without a UV filter. Go ahead, get it and play with it. It changes the way you look at some subjects.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

I've only had this lens for a few days, but it is simply amazing on my panasonic Lumix G5. Pictures are sharp, and they can be defished easily in programs such as PTLens. But where this lens is really cool is taking video. You don't have to worry that much about focus in good light, as many others have mentioned.

The lens is a gem. It is solidly built, and feels like quality asahi pentax lenses from a couple of generations ago. If you want t close focus on something, you can get REALLY close, literally a few inches (of course then, you'll have to manually focus, but that is really easy.)
Do not stress that this is not autofocus, you really do not need it! This lens has made photography really fun for me again.

Also, shop around... find the version that's cheapest, whether Rokinon, Samyang, or Bower, they are all the same.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

I use the GH4 on a regular basis, and really needed a wide angle lens for interior shots (hotels, real estate, etc). I was so happy to discover that lens, especially at that price point.
FYI, Bower, Rokinon and Samyang are the same brand, just trying different marketing approaches...So go for any of them!
Using the manual aperture ring took a bit of time getting used to, and I mainly use the lens in infinity focus.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

This is a very fun lens to shoot with! I never had or used a fisheye lens before and I don't know why I waited so long to buy one. I guess because fish eye lenses In my view are so expensive for a specialty lens that I might use very little. I was wrong! Purchased this lens before Christmas and have used it probably 80% of the time since. I know it's not going to be all the time on my camera because I have the Olympus Pro 12-40 2.8 on it but I will be using it more than first thought. It's great you don't need to worry to much about focusing because you put it on Infinity and just shoot and everything is sharp unless something is around two feet away from you then you are going to need some fine tuning. Another cool thing is that I have the 5 axis on my Olympus omd-em 1 and it works well. I bought the 7.5mm f/3.5 fisheye lens mainly because B&H had it on sale for $199 and couldn't pass this great deal on a new lens. Knowing how much I like it I would buy it for full retail price in a heart beat. Build quality is great and pictures come out sharp, colors are nice. The only negative I think there is on the lens is that the focus ring is very tight and hard to turn when you do need to focus without getting your fingers on the picture or video but thats not enough in my opinion to give it less than 5 stars. I'll find something to put around the focus ring to have a better tactile feel to it.

I've only had this lens for a few weeks, and still haven't really been able to 'put it through its paces'!But here's what I can say. It's very well made, and though its regular price is comparatively speaking, quite resonable, it was on sale when I bought mine, and was a fantastic buy.The lens is sharp, but not like either of my 3 Olympus lenses, so I am somewhat spoiled, and perhaps not a good judge.I've seen others remark about the firmness of the manual focussing ring, and I don't agree, as I feel its perfect. Though getting 'hang' of finding a in focus sweet spot with the right aperature setting is not as easy as I thought it would be.Cromatic aberation seems just about non-existent, which I find amazing. But so far, I've made very few pictures with this lens, and most have been more experimental then actually shooting with a perpose. I still wonder if I'm ready to make a review. But my "gut" tells me that if I keep it with me, and use it judiciously, I'll be rewarded with truly outstanding results.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

This little lens is a very valuable asset to my M43 kit. Even with the 7-14 f4 (Panasonic Lumix), the Bower 7mm fisheye increases the amount of fun taking pictures can offer. As a retired pro photographer, converting to the M43 system was a no brainer & having this fisheye makes photography fun again.I get to use the hyperfocal distance & manual focusing again. It is sharp, lightweight, & for the money, cannot be beat. The Olympus OMD (EM-1 & EM-5) series of cameras do require a few adjustments, ie: manual focus & turn off IS, but focusing & hand holding is no problem.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

Maybe 4.5 stars for value and 3.5 stars for image quality ... netting out to 4.I doubt I'd invest big $$$ in a fisheye, but at these prices, the Rokinon/Bower/Samyang fisheye is a great learning tool and is improving my shot discipline in the process. I'm getting some good shots with it, and defishing in Adobe LR is opening up some possibilities. What bugs me about this lens is that it renders as if you've turned the sharpening up too much. My wife says the lens "looks digital" and hates everything I do with it.Some of my complaints may well be due to needing to master LR's finer techniques in order to get the best out of it (I shoot Raw with an Oly O-MD E-M1).Perhaps my expectations were unreasonable and in part set by the rendering of their 12mm/2.0 lens which is much more to my taste. I'd put the 12/2.0's image quality and rendering right up there with my Oly 12-40/2.8 Pro. Still I'm enjoying this lens a great deal. If I didn't own an Olympus 12-40/2.8 Pro, I'd probably have kept the Rokinon 12 instead of returning it for the fisheye. As I play with this lens more, I'll post updates on my rendering "issues". I may well be too spoiled by my Pan/Leica 25/1.4, Oly 12-40/2.8, and the returned Rokinon 12/2.0.The attached photos were shot Raw, and exported to .jpg via Lightroom with no adjustments or defishing, in to take my "heavy hand" out of the equation. You could do a whole lot worse than this lens, and I suspect that I'll be reporting back on its charms as I play with the shots in Lightroom.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

If you are like I was when first considering this lens, i.e. hesitant, then I urge you to buy this lens. My original thinking was that this is an off-brand, non-OEM lens, with no AF, and a low price tag, so probably it was not the best. However, at this time, there are limited choices for ultrawide angle m4/3. So I took the plunge and boy was I ever pleasantly surprised. This is a sharp, well-made lens. You will not have to be overly concerned about focus most of the time especially at 7.5mm on a m4/3 sensor. It takes great photos at a very reasonable price which is more than can be said for most m4/3 lenses.

For the price it is a great fisheye lens and certainly one of the least expensive ways to get wide shots using the full micro four-thirds sensor. Focusing up close can be a little tricky, but architecture/landscape will not be an issue whatsoever. Not the fastest lens, but certainly useable in lower light. Seems well built, but time will be the judge of its durability.

I've really enjoyed using it and it is definitely a ton of fun.

Comments about Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black):

An amazing lens at this price level. It adds something new to my current kit of micro four third lenses.

The wide angle of view and fisheye distortion can be used creatively and it is relatively easy to "de-fish" the images to produce super wide angle rectilinear photos, as well.

It is very sharp and of course, as a super wide angle, it provided great depth of field. The focusing is even close enough to do some near-macro photos.

However, manual focusing, when needed, is a bear on this lens. The focus ring is way too tight. it's relatively small and it is not knurled all the way around. Normally, manual focus lenses require ounces of force to focus. This lens needs pounds of force, to the point that it is nigh-impossible to turn the focus ring and look through a viewfinder at the same time. This is the one thing keeping this from being a 5-star review.
