I was an early adopter of the Harmony remote, and have owned several over the years. Recently our aging model 880 started to have problems with the contacts under the buttons that made it hard to operate. I was intrigued with the new Smart Control and hub with its iPhone app and bare- bones remote that both talk to the infrared hub that controls your equipment. After purchasing that package I quickly learned that using your iPhone for an entertainment system remote isn't all that convenient (or reliable!). So I returned the Smart unit and bought the 650. While it isn't quite as customizable as the 880, it's controls are actually more logical and easy to use. I had no trouble transferring all my systems settings to the 650, and I was up and running in about 15 minutes. I might miss the rechargeable batteries in the 880 (the 650 uses double As), but in a couple of weeks use I see no unusual battery wear. For the money, the 650 is a great remote, and if you don't need to control more than 5 devices, it should do the job better than just about any other unit.

After spending a few hours trying to do a simple setup, I called Logitech for help. I was on the phone with them for about an hour trying to get the remote to work. They were very patient and helpful with me - and informed me that it appeared my remote had a hardware error, as its not behaving as expected. I am returning it to B&H, and going to try another one. I will update my rating based on the experience of the 2nd one being sent.
Logitech support was very good, and B&H handled return w/o incident. Just waiting for new one to arrive.

Excellent piece of hardware, relatively easy to program using web based management. Make sure you program the activities you want on the activity buttons first as you can't customize them after.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:

This remote is awesome. Plugged it into my computer, went online to set up and was ready in 15 minutes. Now I push one button and sit back and watch. Went from 4 remotes and total confusion to even my parents knowing how to use it. I hooked up an old RCA VCR, RCA DVD Surround Sound system, Arris cable box and LG Widescreen HD TV. Best advice I could give is to make sure you have all of the make and model numbers and how they connect to each other when you go online. Would buy again.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:

There is more confusion and wasted time in trying to initiate this product than what is saved by using multiple remotes. Hours spent with a very unknowledgeable and language challenged customer assistant was extremely unsatisfactory. It would seem that a lot of this difficulty could be resolved by a well written owner's manual. I do not recommend this product

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:

                Pros:
                * Easy to setup
                * I can control my TV, Xbox, Itunes, Netflix (tv input), and my cable box. I'm really able to finally use a single remote.
                * Lots of button customization features.

                Cons:
                * When switching between inputs, the remote would turn off the TV. You have to click help and the remote goes through troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. It seems like it has stoppped though. I wonder if it "learns" how to fix this issue automatically over time.

                I recommend this product.

I use this remote to control TV, BLURAY, western digital media hub, and stereo receiver . this is a nice remote to put all 4 units on one controller. I took a bit of time to set up but once it was and remote learned the settings it worked great. Some bugs from time to time but much better than juggling 4 remotes.

                    Pro:
                    - VERY easy setup. Just plug the controller to your computer, run the software from the web plugin, input model numbers for devices, and then create "activities" (aka macros)
                    - Large database of devices
                    - Controller has the same buttons as my devices

                    Con:
                    - When trying to update my activities, the remote would not be picked up by my computer. I had to boot the remote in safemode and then I was able to resync the device.

I purchased harmony 650 to combine 4 remotes; my plasma tv, receiver, sat receiver, and a media player.
My plasma TV is a little weird in that it wont accept any commands till 10-12 seconds after it has been powered on. So I need to insert a wait time for the functions to work correctly. It needed some improvisation but all was set up in less than an hour.
I think set up steps (especially for activities) should allow more user input.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:

I was really impressed with this remote, it was very easy to program. The online help is one of the easiest programs I have used. Once the unit was programmed I turned on my TV, surround, receiver and DirecTv to watch a broadcast but the receiver did not power up, No Problem! I just hit the "help" button and like magic the receiver came on' how easy! The buttons are laid out very well, I have had no problems with this remote.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:

I like being able to operate all my devices with one remote. This remote does that beautifully. I'd give it 5 stars but it occasionally doesn't turn everything on correctly. It's kind of a nuisance, hence the missing star, but doesn't stop me from really liking this remote.

Finally got sick and tired of juggling multiple remotes and started searching for a universal. After checking all the reviews (and deciding how much I wanted to spend) I settled on the Harmony 650. Searched around and B&H had the best deal ... plus no tax and free shipping!

The remote arrived in a timely manner. Although I consider myself only marginally technical, setup was a breeze. Yes, I had to call the Harmony help desk a couple of times for fine-tuning. But they were really good and they actually helped me learn a few ins and outs of the software that will come in handy in the future.

Bottom line ... this remote is smarter than I am and it WORKS! Love it. Sorry I didn't get it sooner.

Programming was easy. Takes some getting used to versus a OEM remote. Feels solid and of higher quality push buttons on circuit board. Like the multi-function one button option. Still have to figure out how to add - dashes after entering a channel (28-3), this part of the programming for my particular brand anyway, was left out. I am sure once I ask/answer a few questions, and use it some more this remote will be hard to ever live without.

I bought the product based on the reviews of the remote. The set up was fairly easy. The one thing that the remote could not set up was Sansung Smart TV. I still have to use my other remote to access the Sansum Smart TV. Otherwise it is a good remote.
