The yellow Lens Band from Lens Band is a unique solution to an age old problem. When using zoom lenses, especially extra long zooms, there is often a tendency for the lens barrel to "creep", i.e. extend due to its own weight when pointed either upward or downward. The Lens Band presents a simple and unique solution to this issue. The strong silicone rubber band stretches over the zoom ring of your lens and holds it firmly in place.

In addition to preventing this kind of problem, it also aids when shooting with a tripod where slower shutter speeds may be required, such as in macro photography when operation of the zoom ring may not be required. For anyone who works out in the field and carries or hangs his camera over his shoulder, lens creep is a common problem that can cause undo stress on the both the lens and your back. The inexpensive Lens Band offers you a straightforward solution to this potentially nagging problem.

It's easy to use. Stretch the Lens Band over your lens. Position it over the zoom ring when not in use. When ready to use it, slide half of it over the non-moving portion of the lens body. The pressure of the band will prevent the lens from slipping out of place. Just make sure the Band does not interfere with your focus ring.

As an added benefit to the Lens Band, it can also be used to remove filters that have become stuck. It works on manufacturer's filters from 67mm to 110mm or 2.75" (7.0 cm) to 4.5" (11.4 cm) in diameter. With the firm grip it provides, filters can be loosened without any potential damage to either the filter or the front element of your lens.

Fits many popular zoom lenses on today's market

Although its pretty easy to compare the Lens Band to typical $1 awareness bracelets, the Lens Band is much thicker and stronger. In the past I've used a Lens Band to tame creeping on a Nikkor 18-200 and it works great. Now a days, I shoot a good deal with a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 with the lens hanging from a BlackRapid strap (another great item). However, carrying that way, the switches on the lens can bump against your leg. Every once in a while the focus limiter switch (FULL inf-5m) will get knocked into the 5m position and I only notice when I have a dog running at me and I miss the shot. So.... I thought this might me a great application for a lens band. Sure enough, the Lens band wraps over the switches on the big 70-200, and the problem is solved. When I do need to turn the VR on/off, just roll the edge of the Lens band to expose the switches.

Although the lens band does work, it involves some clumsy maneuvering to get it into place. Changing it as you zoom is certainly cumbersome. I'm using it on the new Nikkor 24-120 f4 zoom, and although there is an occasional minor creeping problem, it's an issue I can easily live with. I'm not sure the lens band is really worth the effort.

I don't often carry the 70-400G mounted, when I do I have it on a monopod. However, since it does not have a lock to avoid zoom creep I have the Lens Band.

Nikon will not admit that their original 18-200mm digital DX lens had slipage problems. They also did not have any fix. This band solves the problem.

Have 3 of these, work well. Only caution, make certain the rubber does not interfere with the focusing ring. Once in place, doesn't seem to slip out of position.

I was sceptical, but this item works very well, I bought the black band, hardly shows. I use it on my 28-135 Canon lens. Ordered 2 more for the 70-300 IS and for future lenses.

This product is great for addressing lens creep. But I mainly use this lens band to address a defect on my Nikon 18-200mm lens. Recently, I found that my fingers were getting stained by the black rubber ring (don't know the technical name for this) that covers the focus ring on my lens. Then, the rubber ring began to lift off from the focus ring (the glue was coming undone). So, I purchased this lens band and placed it over the focus ring on the lens (over the rubber ring) and, now, my fingers don't get stained and I have a firm grip of the focus ring! Using the lens is a joy again!

For those who don't want to spend the big money to officially "fix" a creeping zoom lens, this is an easy, inexpensive tool that takes little effort to use. A worthwhile stopgap measure.

My zoom lense had some creep when pointed in the downward position. The Lensband completely stopped the creep and doesn't hinder auto focus at all.

Going to be nice not to worry about lens creep when carrying the camera. They are a little bit stiff to pull them over the lenses.

                            Comments about Lens Band (Black):

Band works well and much better than a standard rubber band. I use it to lock in a focus length when I'm walking around since zoom lenses tend to creep when hanging by the sling I use. It's easy enough to push out of the way and the lens will move again without resistance but even with the band in place it's possible to zoom in and out with a little more force. BOTTOM LINE: If you have lens creep occurring this will fix the problem and is an easy and relatively inexpensive solution.

I'm not sure how you rate a strong rubber band. If I had thought about it a bit more, I probably wouldn't have purchased this for the lens I got it for (Canon f2.8 17-55) as it necessitates being pulled over the focus ring to work. As it is it feels good just sitting on the zoom ring and helps my fingers tell where they are on the lens without me looking, though this might have been accomplished with a rubber band from my kitchen drawer just as well. For the right lens, I could see this being very useful.

I find those rubber wrist bracelets for "inset any cause here" tend to hold my lens better than this item did. A little too stiff and slippery for my lens I guess.

the rubber on my nikon 24-70 f2.8 Ed zoom was coming off of the zoom ring, so i bought a few of these in multiple colors to use (two at a time) to replace the rubber. They work great for that purpose and I can change colors at will! I ordered dark blue and orange - WAR EAGLE!!
