The Induro BHL2 Ball Head features separate controls for ball locking, pan-base locking, and tension to provide precise and reliable control over camera positioning. With its all-weather grip, the oversized knob enables extremely strong ball locking, which makes possible the head's remarkable load capacity of 66 lb. To accommodate different load sizes, an independent tension dial is integrated into the ball-locking knob.

The separate locks for tilt and pan mean that you can reliably perform tasks such as panoramic photography, which require the camera's orientation to remain rock-steady while the position of the panning base changes. Around the base are degree markers that aid in the accurate capture of panoramas that will be stitched together later. The head pans a full 360° and tilts 90° to -45° to accommodate portrait orientation.

The BHL2 head features an Arca-Swiss-style clamping quick-release element, with a double lock to protect your gear from damage. A bubble level on the clamping element helps ensure that your framing hews to the horizon. A PU-60 dovetail plate with a 1/4"-20 screw is included, and the head is compatible with most Arca-style camera plates from other manufacturers.

The oversized ball-locking knob provides a good all-weather grip for smooth camera positioning and locking control
The separate pan-action lock and the graduated base scale make 360-degree horizontal camera positioning simple and repeatable
A double safety lock with dual-action control ensures smooth, secure, and rapid camera changes
Built-in bubble level on quick-release platform enables precise alignment
The head features an integrated lock-limiter tension control – this rapid independent adjustment compensates for individual camera weight
Exceptionally high load capacity of 66 lb

This is my first setup. I had originally researched to death and chosen another brand. Before ordering I came across a tripod article on the Aperture Academy website. The author understood the need for a solid platform and uses Induro. I scoured the Induro website, which includes product videos, and was willing to take the risk.

I've carried the setup everywhere I go including the backcountry and have no complaints with the performance. I gave it 4 stars because I have to think a RRS (Really Right Stuff) or similar very high end unit would have a little more precision.

On that note, the tripod has a set screw to lock the ball head on. I use Loctite, and did have to back off the set screw as there was a little deformity causing the panning action to require more effort in one spot. I don't see this as problem... backed off the set screw, and it was still plenty tight.

I'm using this rig to support a Canon 7D. The heaviest lens I've used so far is the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, well within the 66 lb capacity of the BHL2 and it feels solid. The release is 2-stage, requiring a 2nd action to fully disengage, and I like that feature. The included plate will not slide out in the 1st stage of release, however I'm using a RRS L-Bracket on the 7D which can slide out in stage 1 release. I've mounted the Induro plate on the 70-200 lens.

I just received the Induro BHL2 ballhead and while the quality is good, I am very disappointed to see that you cannot access/see the bubble level when the camera is on the head! Did they really just design it so that it was only visible when the camera is mounted using a tripod collar on the lens?? Not all lenses have collars! What am I missing?

Comments about Induro BHL2 Ball Head:

I'm am amateur but use the tripod fairly often. The BHL2 works great. It locks into place easily and has a smooth action. I have gotten used to the tension adjustment knob within the main adjustment knob. My one complaint is the ring surrounding the inset tension adjuster fell off of the head. It looks like the glue dried out. I had it in 30 degree weather for about 45 minutes. It should be more durable than that. Other than that it works well...

Comments about Induro BHL2 Ball Head:

Why purchase something that has "Pro" inscribed into it? Why purchase something because "that's what the pro's use" and spend double the money? It's your money. This ball head GRIPS tight without having to crank on the knobs. Easy to pan, tilt, etc.
Will only prevent rails, L-brackets, etc., from sliding out (end to end) if the slide or L-bracket has the M3 type safety screw installed...that little silver screw head. If not, then the rail or L-bracket will just slide right on out when the tension knob is loosened. To 'lift' the rail or L-bracket straight out, turn the release knob until it stops, then pull and continue to twist the knob. The railing system will loosen to the point the rail can lift out.
On the largest knob, there is an inner 'thumb' adjuster. This will allow you to have a 'stop' when loosening the ball. If you want a certain amount of tension on the ball when you loosen, all you have to do is tighten the ball, then turn the thumb screw counter clockwise to back off the stop or clockwise to give it more stop. Once adjusted, you can quickly loosen the big knob and it'll stop where you set it, so the drag on the ball is where you've set it. Pretty nice feature.
My only gripe is the bubble level. The liquid is DARK GREEN and very hard to see. I mean very hard to see. I have a pocket magnifying glass with led lights that I have to use to see the bubble. It's not the general nice and large yellow bubble we're all use too.
Other than that, loved it so much, I purchased another BHL2.
Remember, just because it's an Arca Swiss compatible, doesn't mean all rails are within the specs to fit (width). I does fit my Desmond, Sunwayfoto, and RRS gear.
Used on Gitzo Mountaineer Series 2 & Manfrotto tripods.

This is a great ball head. It's very solid and well made. It's smooth and can handle my full frame pro bodies or medium format cameras. It's design is simaler to the RS-55 but at half the price.

I use this on an Induro CT 214 Tripod. I have been shooting with a Canon 5d MKII with Canon 100-400; 24 - 105, and 24 TS lenses. Also use with Sony a7r with Sony 70 -200 and Canon 24 TS lenses. The ball movement is very smooth. Am able to get any combination of camera and lens in position and lock with no drift even when tilted over on the side to shoot portraits.Quick release plate requires a tool (allen wrench, which is supplied, or a coin) to attach to camera or lens. Would be better if you could do this by hand. Spare plates seem pricey.

Comments about Induro BHL2 Ball Head:

I use a tripod for almost all photos I take and, of course, a good ball head is necessary. This one works well and solidly attaches to the tripod and allows for solid attachment of the lens/camera using the correct plate. The Arca-style quick release works very well and solidly attaches the camera/lens to the ball head. Since I have arthritis in my hands,I do wish the ball-locking knob and the panning lock knobs were a little larger in diameter to make it easier to grip and turn. They are large enough if you don't have hand-pain problems. I'm still undecided on the tension control which is integrated into the ball-locking knob. I adjust it as the instructions say to just hold the camera/lens in place so they don't flop around while composing the photo. (required tension will vary with the weight of the lens and camera attached). Then I tighten it and all works well, but when I loosen it to adjust for the next photo it is either is too loose or too tight rather than just being tight enough to hold the camera/lens in place while composing the next photo. I am still getting used to this ball-head so the problem may be mine. I have used other ball-heads where the tension on the ball head while composing a photo and before tightening to take the photo was entirely controlled by the user so once I get the proper adjustment on this ball head it should work well. Get extra PU-60 Slide-In Quick Release Plates - one for each camera, one for each lens where tripod is attached to the foot on the lens.

I bought the Induro BHL2 ballhead to sit atop a new Gitzo Carbon Fiber monopod also from B & H, and I am very pleased with the results. The Induro is solid and "creep" free--I can easily lock down my Nikon D7000 with a 70-200 lens and teleconverter. Best of all is the quality feel of the ballhead. The BHL2 is a great addition to a set of legs or a monopod. Treat yourself!

The Induro BHL2 Ball Head works flawlessly! It holds my D800 with 24mm f1.4 secure and stable on my Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs. A great combination, both are very light weight. A joy to travel with and carry in the field. If you are looking for something solid for long exposures at night, this will fit the bill. Photograph with cofidence that your equipment won't let you down. Then the quality of the work is solely your resonsibity. That is peace of mind. Worth the money!

This ball head allows you to easily adjust the position of the head and solidly lock it down with one knob. The only drawback is the pan reference mark is quite small. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants a solidly made ball head that can hold significant weight.

I have only used it a few times and it is very smooth. I feel very confident with my camera setting atop this ballhead on my CT313 tripod. The two knobs are great and easy to remember which one to use and for what by the feel of the size. Will update this review in five to six months and that is the only reason I gave it a four star instead of five.

I purchased this ball head and a set of AT213 legs and couldn't be happier. The ball head is very smooth and stable, a big step up from their BDH2 which is still a nice head. This Induro combo replaced a Manfrotto 055XPROB with 498RC2 head and in my opinion the Induro combo is much better quality and a lot smoother.

I use the BHL-2 on my Induro 214 Carbon Fiber Tripod. It obviously fits perfectly, but, as it replaces the Acratech I've been using, the safety release feature of this Induro head is invaluable. Knowing my camera will not slip out is reason enough to use it.
I also have the BHL-3 on my Induro 313 Carbon Fiber Tripod & became a believer in all of the Induro products. You cannot go wrong with any of them.

like most of you reading this i did months of research to pick the best ball head that wasn't $500 after going into B&H and testing out all the ball heads they had to offer the BHL2 was the clear winner
-took it to aruba a place with 20 mph winds for time lapses biggest fear is that it would "creep" down with the force of a D800 and 14-24 on it pleasantly surprised it held strong and i am more than happy with my purchase! if you have any doubt try it and worst comes to worst return it, B&H has an amazing return policy - would buy again

After considerable research, upgraded from an old Manfrotto kit with tilt-pan head. Installed easily on Enduro carbon tripod. Arca-Swiss style plate with quick release very reliable. Find this head very comfortable and precise. Holds a 5dmkIII and 100-400L very securely. Very satisfied with this combination for both indoor and outdoor shooting.

Comments about Induro BHL2 Ball Head:

I bought this head to attach to my Induro CT214 CF tripod. I actually had another, much older, ball head from the tripod the Induro replaced, but was so impressed by the build quality of the tripod that I thought I'd get a new head. Initially I was looking at the RRS, which I had borrowed from a friend, but settled on the Induro. Fantastic quality, and a great price. Couldn't be happier.

Incidentally, I bought the cf tripod for travel. I take this tripod with me everywhere I go. I used to keep a gorrillpod focus (the aluminum one) in my camera bag, so that I'd always have some support for long exposure shots on the fly. This Induro feels lighter, is much more stable, and has now replaced the gorrillapod. I also replaced the center column with the shorter optional one.

Very sturdy - holds adjustments well. The only complaint - releasing the quick release plate tends to be a bit clumsy per my experience.

I did a lot of research before buying a tripod system. I was about to buy a Gitzo and saw a review for Induro brand and was intrigued by the quality review and price. After more research on their website I chose a Induro Alloy 8M AT313 Tripod and this ball head and could not be happier. A quality product for a great price! You will not be disappointed in this product!

The glide is right, the tension and tightness is perfect for easy movement. It took a little bit just to get used to it, but I am so happy to have gotten this Induro!

I purchased this ball head with the Induro carbon fiber tripod and am extremely pleased with the ease of use of this ball head. The locking mechanizm is easy to setup and works for my heavy DSLR and my wife's point and shoot camera.
