The black Camera Vest ONLY from Cotton Carrier is a unique chest harness system for one camera that supports your camera eliminating the neck strain usually associated with shooting long jobs such as weddings, sports, public relations and photojournalism. The system is designed for the photographer who carries a DSLR with battery grip. The system comes complete with a camera tether that securely supports your camera and a 10° angled hub. The hub fits neatly into the 1/4 -20 tripod slot on your camera and then slips into the Lexan receptacle in the front of your vest. The Universal Adapter Plate allows customers to go from the Cotton Carrier receptacle directly into their favorite quick release plate or ball head. This is because the angled hub blocks the ability to use quick release adapters. The Universal Plate allows you to do both functions. For additional stability, the built-in lens Stabilization Strap adds another measure of balance and support by holding the lens firmly against your body, preventing "swing".
First, use the buckles and touch fasteners on the vest to secure it around your body. Both the height and chest harness are fully adjustable. The camera tether then attaches to the vest by the use of a D-Ring. The unit's Split Ring attaches to the camera's strap lug and then to the other end of the tether. The entire unit is inter-connected and provides you with a comfortable and stable way to comfortably walk around while having your camera at the ready to shoot. You can also attach the harness as a standalone system when you attach it to, for example, your backpack strap. Just wrap the touch fastener around the strap and you're set to go. The system is backed by Cotton Carrier's limited lifetime warranty against defects.
The Cotton Carrier Camera Vest (635 RTL-S) differs from their Camera Vest for All Camera Types without Side Holster (633 CVP) in that the Camera Vest ONLY comes with a bonus hand strap and universal tripod adapter.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Camera Vest ONLY (Black):
I find the Cotton Carrier Vest extremely helpful, particularly when I'm walking or hiking considerable distances. It takes the strain off my neck and keeps the camera readily available for use. I plan to use it on an extensive trip to Utah in May.....
With the Cotton Carrier mount on my camera, I found some difficulty adapting the system to a Manfrotto tripod..... Even with the adaptor plate that was furnished in the box, I had to do some engineering on my own to make it work. By the way, I'm using it on an Sony Alpha 65; It might adapt better to other cameras....
Overall, I'm very pleased with the vest....
Thanks

Comments about Cotton Carrier Camera Vest ONLY (Black):
My neck was getting too sore with the big lenses and the added weight of the new D800. I like my Black Rapid, but it is still a neck / shoulder mount. The Cotton works well and I have no neck problems. It seems much lighter with the weight distributed on my chest. It takes a bit of effort to get the harness fitted, but done once and it is good. After a day of use, I am still getting used to the catching mechanism, but it is very solid. No worries about lossing it. I might have the harness sitting too high. My hands are free, an added plus. No need to keep the camera behind me or stop it from swing out as with a neck mount. The only thing is the "look". But if you have a big camera and lens it is not easy to hide.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Camera Vest ONLY (Black):
We hike often and I used to be a point and shoot which was convenient. Yearning for better pics- I upgraded to a NIKON D 600. If you put it in a pack, you have to take off the pack and dig it out often missing the shot.I purchased the neoprene strap which is ok for smaller lenses, but I have either the 24-70 (which is heavy) or my telephoto which bounced around in the front and to unbuckle to get the shot was awkward. Next, I purchased the StrapShot. I thought this was the answer- but i would always have to wear a back pack. In the brochure was this Vest. I returned the StrapShot unused and ordered this. I have taken this on 2 snowshoe hikes in frigid temps and it works perfectly. My hands are free, nothing swinging around waiting to slam into something, quick release. In general-exactly what I was looking for. I will purchase the cover( from the MFR unless you have it -I used a plastic cover) to keep blowing snow off my camera. I would use this on walks as well. I read many of the reviews and many reference difficult in sizing. I have to say- I put it on, adjusted the straps in under a minute.A MUST FOR HIKING-

I use the Cotton vest for taking photos when hiking. The camera is easily retrieved when an opportunity presents itself. Then easily stowed. The camera with the Canon 28-300 lens fits snugly and does not get in the way when climbing over obstacles or jumping over something. The vest distributes the weight comfortably. Getting the proper fit took some time. I might try it on my road bike & skiing.

I just got my Cotton Carrier and I am so happy to have it. No more schlepping my chiropractor everywhere with me! The only thing people need to know is to check YouTube for how to assemble it. The directions that come with it are pithy at best but the YouTube demos are perfect.

I do a lot of nature photography while hiking and needed a way to comfortably and securely carry my camera, and be ready to shoot at a moments notice. The Cotton Carrier camera vest was the perfect choice for me,and has performed as advertised. I am currently using a Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 18-300mm lens.

Once you figure out the instructions and get help from customer service the vest is excellent. The instruction sheet does not explain all.

My son the wildlife biologist had told us he had co-workers who used this outfit and loved it, so I bought myself one and l too love it. While hiking in the mountains the camera is readily at hand but secure as I climb over rocks and downed timber. I hardly know I have the camera strapped to me. I particularly like how the attachment for on the camera for the vest still allows me to still have my tripod attachment on the camera. Think this will also work very well on vacations.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Camera Vest ONLY (Black):
When I wrote my review of the Cotton Carrier vest earlier, I neglected to add that one should always tighten the camera's carrier anchors before each use of the vest, especially if one uses the hand grip. The torque needed to lock/unlock the camera in its holder can work the anchor nut loose. I would also be sure to obtain an extra hex wrench from the hardware store and keep it in my bag at all times.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Camera Vest ONLY (Black):
I decided to add the Cotton Carrier Vest (only) to my other Cotton Carrier equipment (a bandolier-style belt and holster rig) so I could switch between two cameras. I tried it out at a high school softball game. It was very easy to switch between cameras. The chest anchor's height is just right (it's adjustable). The vest's velcro closure anchor strap would really come in handy for a hiker or cross country ski-er. Getting used to the "mount/dismount" of a camera on the Cotton system seems strange at first, but after a while it's second nature. And the handy, NECESSARY tethers are great.

After using the Cotton Carrier for the last two weeks since getting it, I can say it was a great investment. I used it the other day carring my Canon Rebel XT with Sigma 70-300MM lens for 3 hours at my daughters track meet. I hardly noticed the weight on my shoulders and back. before my neck would ache a lot. It is very easy to get the camera in and out of the slot in the carrier and it is locks in very secure.

Comments about Cotton Carrier Camera Vest ONLY (Black):
Well made. The fittings and straps are heavy duty, and I feel pretty confident that my camera won't suddenly end up on the ground.
It's comfortable and easy to get into and out of.
The camera fitting is terrific, especially with the hand strap camera holder.
I haven't tested it for long duration in the field so I don't know how hot or binding it might get. No issues so far however
