Comments about HighPoint Rocket 622M Dual eSATA 6 Gbps PCI Express 2.0 Host Adapter for Mac:
This controller costs three times as much as its PC counterpart; they look almost exactly the same. HighPoint tells us that the price difference is attributable to the "additional engineering work" that had to be done to make this work with the Mac.
When an external drive is connected to the PC version, Windoze recognizes it immediately. The process is seamless and painless. Swapping drives in our Voyager Q docking station works just as it should. However, when a drive is inserted and powered up with the Voyager connected to the Mac 622M host adapter, nothing happens.
In order to get the computer to see the external drive, it is necessary to reboot the computer. Each time the drive is changed or powered off and then back on.
For this, they charge three times as much?
