The Pavilion dv7-6c80us 17.3" Notebook Computer (Dark Umber) from Hewlett Packard is a portable entertainment PC designed for people who want to bring their media with them on the road. The 17.3" HD+ widescreen display features LED backlighting and HP BrightView technology. The 1600 x 900 native resolution is powered by integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000.
Beats Audio is exclusive to HP notebook computers and is provided through integrated quad speakers. The rear pair of speakers can tilt forward to kick the sound right at you for the ultimate listening experience. This HP notebook also has a HP TripleBass Reflex Subwoofer for added bass. Beats Audio is unlike other laptop speakers because it can eliminate electronic background noise, go from whisper quiet to blasting loud without flattening out the sound, add powerful amplifiers for full-bodied sound and a bass boost button to pump up volume even more.
This system is powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM processor. It also has 6GB of DDR3 RAM, a 750GB 5400rpm hard drive, a Blu-ray player and SuperMulti DVD burner combo optical drive, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Intel Wireless Display (WiDi), a digital media card reader, a fingerprint reader, an integrated webcam and digital microphone. Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) is the installed operating system.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv7-6c80us 17.3" Notebook Computer (Dark Umber):
I replaced the hard drive with a Crucial M4 SSD (both the ssd and laptop came from bhphotovideo in 2 days, very fast shipping). Doing a fresh Windows install without the HP bloatware and on a SSD makes this thing unbelievably fast, it boots right away, programs load instantly and I can't make any complaints. I record music and the DPC latency is pretty decent, plenty of ram and the cpu is as good as you can ask for at the time of this writing.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv7-6c80us 17.3" Notebook Computer (Dark Umber):
I got this as a replacement for my last HP laptop. This one is faster, has more storage, more ram, love it. I use it mainly for business, email, social media, along with Photoshop and Lightroom.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv7-6c80us 17.3" Notebook Computer (Dark Umber):
This notebook is for personal use. It screams with speed and the HD display is just plain awesome. What's not so great is it is HUGE. But that is why I bought it! I want HD graphics and easy read text. I'm older and my eyes need big and beautiful. This is it!
I'm new to Windows 7 but it appears to be a very good operating system. I don't like not being able to backup to a network drive. That is a Windows 7 Home Premium issue.
I've have great luck with HP laptops/notebooks. Long life with no issues.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv7-6c80us 17.3" Notebook Computer (Dark Umber):
I'm an aging baby boomer who generally has an adversarial relationship with computers, and my entire knowledge of computer technology consists of the internet and Photoshop. In other words, don't think I'm a qualified computer reviewer. Nevertheless, when my desktop began showing signs of entering the end of life phase, I decided to try to find a laptop that could both travel with me and do all the Photoshop work I need. This one seems to be fine. It's fast, runs Photoshop well, and the keyboard isn't as awful as other laptops I'd tried. For tiny built-in speakers the sound system is more than adequate. I know there are more expensive models with higher-resolution screens available, but this 17" screen looks outstandingly sharp to me. I even plugged the monitor from my late desktop into this computer, and I can have my Photoshop palettes and my email on the second monitor, just like real computer people do.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv7-6c80us 17.3" Notebook Computer (Dark Umber):
This is a great laptop for 'entertainment' and general use if you aren't too worried about the graphics. I mistakenly purchased one, thinking the graphics could be upgraded. Alas! No video slot or any way to upgrade. The integrated on board graphics is an old version and probably at the bottom of the barrel.
I couldn't exchange the unit due to freight costs Still for home use it's a reasonable laptop for the price. Now I know why its labled 'entertainment' laptop.
