Azden's FMX-DSLR Portable Audio Mixer for Digital SLR Camera is a two-channel mixer designed specifically for use with a DSLR camera. It features twin XLR inputs so that you can utilize professional microphones with your camera by using the camera's mini-jack output. The mixer has automatic gain control, a return feature and can be mounted directly to the camera or to a tripod for placement flexibility.

Two-Channel Mixer
This stereo mixer is designed specifically for those who want to use pro-quality microphones with a digital SLR camera. The XLR inputs are compatible with a wide range of audio recording devices like shotguns, wireless mics and more
Automatic Gain Control
The mixer has an automatic gain control circuit, so when it's turned on it creates a constant signal to go to the camera. This is always engaged to reduce noise in the signal
Return Feature
This lets you take the signal from the headphone out on your camera and send it into the mixer so you can listen to the camera's sound as opposed to the mixer sound. That way you can hear what's on the tape as opposed to what's coming out of the mixer
Mounting
The mixer has a mount that allows you to mount it directly to the bottom of your camera. It also has a tripod mount on the bottom for flexibility in placement

This equipment did not consider RFI, What is RFI ?
Radiated RFI is usually contolled by providing proper shielding in the enclosure of the
equipment. Conducted RFI can be attenuated to satisfactory levels by including a power
line filter in the system. The filter suppresses conducted noise leaving the unit, reducing
RFI to aceptable levels. It also helps to lower the susceptibility of the equipment to
incoming power line noise that can affect its performance.

If you are shooting DSLR video, sound is a problem. You can not use camera audio. You either have to have a dual system sound tech with mixer or an external recorder or you have to have a mixer feeding quality audio into your camera. Well this device provides very good quality sound to your camera. The provided owners manual is very poor. The shell is plasticky. will break.

This little mixer is Great for DSLR videographers. I use it with my Canon 60D and it's help eliminate the AGC that is standard with that camera. Clear sound and consistant power from the batteries keeps me going for hours of shooting.

Comments about Azden FMX-DSLR Portable Audio Mixer for Digital SLR Camera:

Using this with my Sony A77, and the audio is nice and clean. It's great to get rid of the Auto Gain, and this mixer splits the channel coming in rather than afterward, allowing separation of the auto gain signal from the audio track. I haven't had a problem with it encroaching yet, but it's a nice option. The L R options are a little odd, but I appreciate how many different ways this little box can work. One big problem is that due to the size of the box, and its proportions, using it with larger lenses makes it awkward to setup. I think I need a spacer to make room for the lenses I use. It's also built more sturdy than the Comparable beachtek I looked at, but I cannot compare their sound quality as I haven't used the beachtek. This one can handle up to 3 inputs as well, 2 XLR and 1 1/8" stereo jack.
