The Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder is capable of shooting 1920 x 1080/60p high-definition video using the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. It's also capable of shooting digital still JPEG images in a range of resolutions and megapixels. Plus, with the addition of the optional 3D Conversion Lens (sold separately), you can even record in 3D format. You can store your footage using the camcorder's available SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot, which can support up to 64GB memory cards. The HC-V700 features a convenient 3.0" LCD touch screen display with intuitive touch control features for recording and playback. It also features a mini HDMI output for playing back footage in Full HD on your compatible HDTV.

The HC-V700 has a high sensitivity MOS image sensor, progressive recording ability and a lengthy list of shot-enhancing and flexibility-furthering features. This list includes Hybrid Optical Image Stabilization, the Crystal Engine PRO with Intelligent Resolution technology, an Intelligent 46x Zoom and 28.0mm wide-angle Panasonic lens. It's also equipped with O.I.S. Lock, still picture recording at up to 6.1 megapixels, 60 frames/second rapid burst still image shooting, a zoom mic with Wind Noise Canceller, a microphone input, Tele-Macro focusing and iA (Intelligent Auto). With recording features like this, you'll be able to produce beautiful HD images/videos with incredible color, detail and the flowing beauty only progressive recordings can deliver.

Progressive recordings, as opposed to interlaced, reproduce the entirety of an image both across and up/down. This yields vibrant, true-to-life colors and authentic reproduction of each frame. Plus, when you watch your videos on an HDTV, you'll see each shot as it was intended to be seen - in Full HD 1920 x 1080p at 60 frames per second. You may even forget you're watching a home movie. Other highlights include 2D to 3D Conversion, Face Detection, Scene Modes, Advanced Highlight Playback, a camera flash, LED video light, auto lens cover, composition guide lines and a variety of indexing functions.

When you're done shooting and ready to edit, the HC-V700 comes with the HD Writer AE 4.0 (Windows only) software for editing, archiving and sharing your footage. It offers help for uploading to social media sites like YouTube and Facebook. Plus, the mini-HDMI port provides an uncompressed, Full HD video and audio link to your HDTV. Using the HDMI interface also ensures that the camera's two-channel AAC or Dolby Digital audio is transferred to your home theater surround sound, giving you high-definition audio to match your HD video. You can even burn your footage to DVD or Blu-ray by purchasing the proper DVD or Blu-ray Disc writer.

28.0mm Wide Angle Lens
The 28.0mm wide-angle setting fits more people and more of the background into the frame than conventional models. This is especially handy when you want to take a group photo in a small room. It fits your subjects in even when you shoot from up close, and makes it possible to pick up even small sounds with the mic. It also allows you to take self portraits or capture sweeping landscapes without losing the sense of scale
Intelligent 46x Zoom
The HC-V700 feature an Intelligent Zoom function that goes all the way up to 46x. When using Intelligent Zoom, Intelligent Resolution technology lets you shoot at high zoom rates while preserving the image resolution. You get sharp images of highly detailed objects - without the blurry edges
Hybrid O.I.S.+
HYBRID O.I.S.+ uses five-axis correction to thoroughly suppress blurring all the way from wide-angle shots to powerful zoom shots. It also achieves superb effects when shooting while walking. This lets you capture crisp and clear images without blurring, in almost every shooting situation
Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) Lock
The image-stabilizing effect is increased by pressing and holding the O.I.S. Lock indication on the LCD screen, which maximizes the blur detection sensitivity. This is great for when you want to zoom at a fixed angle, like for bird watching
Still Picture Recording
Still Picture Recording mode lets you shoot with a maximum resolution of 6.1 megapixels. You can also simultaneously record video and still images at 5.8 megapixels
60 Frames/Sec High-Speed Burst Shooting
This function lets the camcorder snap up to 60 consecutive 2.1 megapixel still images per second for a total of 180 continuous images in about three seconds. You can use it to analyze a golf swing, tennis stroke or other high-speed motion
iA Mode for Still Images
The iA function is active even when the camera is in still-image mode. When the Intelligent Scene Selector detects the shooting situation, it automatically switches to one of the five Scene modes for still-image shooting. It also optimizes the settings for the still image
Smile Shot (Still Image)
The Smile Shot function automatically detects subject smiles and captures the best possible smile while you're shooting movies. It lets you easily catch those fleeting, easy-to-miss stills of a smiling subject. It will also optimize the focus and exposure for your subject's smiling face
Crystal Engine PRO
The Crystal Engine PRO instantly processes the huge amount of data that goes into Full-HD images, and further enhances Full-HD quality. It produces smooth, high-resolution zoom shots even when the range exceeds the limit for optical zooming. Crystal Engine PRO clearly delineates even the tiniest details of your subject, with extremely natural beauty. In addition, its Noise Reduction (NR) technology has been completely redesigned. The low-frequency noise that occurs when recording in dim lighting has been further minimized. Plus, Intelligent Resolution Technology ensures sharp and crisp pictures, resulting in bright and beautifully colored motion images
Intelligent Resolution Technology
The Intelligent Resolution Technology incorporated in the Crystal Engine PRO uses edge detection technology to confirm the edges of objects within the image, then emphasizes the edges for optimal clarity. For example, it brings crisp definition to patterns and the outlines of objects like flowers. Conversely, it reduces noise and enhances the natural smoothness of parts without edges, like the sky. The increased sharpness is especially effective for images with delicate details. This highly advanced technology maximizes the beauty of Full-HD images
High-Sensitivity Sensor
The High-Sensitivity Sensor on the HC-V700 has a higher level of sensitivity than conventional sensors, which makes dark scenes brighter and more beautiful. It's ideal for shooting indoors, at parties and in similar situations, which greatly increases your shooting opportunities
3D Image Recording
Simply mounting the optional 3D Conversion Lens (sold separately) to the HC-V700 enables easy 3D shooting. The 3D Conversion Lens is smaller than previous models and its brightness has also been increased from F3.3 to F2.4 1
AVCHD Progressive Compliant 1080/60p Recording
Full-HD 1920 x 1080/60p (progressive) recording conveys about twice the information of 1080i (interlace) recording. Fast-moving subjects, such as in sports scenes, are smoothly recorded. The progressive recording of the HC-V700 fully complies with the AVCHD Progressive standard
Zoom Mic
The Zoom Mic function that links with the camera's zoom action has evolved even further. The noise-reducing performance is improved from previous models to -13dB. It lets you clearly record the sound of your target subject
Wind Noise Canceller
The Wind Noise Canceller automatically detects and suppresses only wind noise. It lets you capture natural sounds with lifelike ambiance even when shooting in windy conditions outdoors or by the sea
Tele-Macro
You can shoot macro close-ups while maintaining a distance of 50 cm from your subject. In addition, using the zoom at full magnification makes it much easier to capture extreme close-ups without your body or camera casting a shadow on the subject and while keeping the background in soft focus
3.0" Wide LCD with Intuitive Touch Operation
The easy-to-view, wide 3.0" (7.6 cm) LCD touch screen display allows intuitive fingertip touch-operation. When shooting, you can use Touch Zoom to instantly zoom in and out and Touch Shutter to automatically focus when shooting still images. For playback, you can change thumbnail pages by sliding a fingertip across the screen. Plus, when shooting movies, you can touch the subject on the screen to instantly focus on it or easily switch to still-image shooting
Auto Power LCD
The LCD brightness can be adjusted manually to suit the surroundings. In Auto Mode, the LCD brightness is adjusted automatically in 16 smooth steps depending on the surroundings
Wide Viewing Angle LCD
The LCD has a viewing angle of 170° vertically and 170° horizontally. Images are clear and bright even when viewed from an angle, so everyone can gather around the LCD to enjoy on-the-spot recordings
Microphone Jack
There is a stereo-mini jack microphone input on the side of the camcorder. You can use it to plug in the external mic (sold separately) of your choice
Accessory Shoe & Adapter
Optional accessories can be attached to the camcorder's accessory shoe to increase shooting versatility. The HC-V700 includes an accessory shoe adapter as well
iA (Intelligent AUTO)
This powerful function senses the shooting conditions and automatically makes the settings and activates functions that will deliver optimal results. iA does the bothersome settings for you and makes it easy to capture beautiful, well-focused images
Scene Mode
Scene mode automatically selects the most suitable shutter speed and aperture for the shooting location and situation. Choose from scene modes like Sports, Portrait, Low Light (motion image only), Spot Light, Snow, Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, Scenery, Night Scenery and Night Portrait (still image only)
Color Night Rec/Color Night View
Color Night Rec and Color Night View deliver images with color, even in dim lighting (1 lx)
Approx. 1-Second Quick Power-On
Switch the power on and the HD camcorders are in standby mode in about one second, ready to shoot when you are. When the LCD is closed, the power automatically switches off. This fast start-up and automatic shutdown also help reduce battery consumption
0.6-Second Quick Start
Using Quick Start mode, you simply flip open the LCD and you're ready to shoot in just 0.6 seconds. When Eco mode is also used, the power turns off whenever the camcorder has not been operated for 5 minutes. This reduces wasted power consumption, and enables a longer battery life
iFrame Mode
The HC-V700 lets you record videos in the iFrame. With iFrame, the video in your camera is the same format you'll edit, so it's fast to import and edit with compatible video editing software. iFrame is based on standards, so it works with a number of applications - such as iMovie
iFrame Shooting, Transferring, Editing, Uploading & Sharing
You can shoot in iFrame mode and quickly transfer your data to a PC with no need for data conversion. Plus, data transferred from the camcorder can be directly edited with iMovie (sold separately). You can also easily upload and copy video content, as well as share your movies on YouTube and Facebook
Focus Assist
This function shows which subjects are in-focus by displaying their outlines in blue. You can easily check the focus on LCD when manually focusing, to ensure consistently clear, sharp images
Relay Recording
The Relay Recording mode automatically switches from the built-in flash memory (once it's full) to the SDXC/SDHC/SD Memory Card and continues recording. You don't have to worry about missing an important shot while switching media
Pre-Rec Function
This smart function records three seconds of images even before you actually begin shooting. The images are held temporarily in the camcorder's internal memory, before recording begins
AGS (Auto Ground-Directional Standby)
The O.I.S. linear motor system can detect when the camera is in an unusual shooting position - such as when you've inadvertently left it on in recording mode. In these cases, the camera automatically stops recording, saving both battery power and media storage space
Composition Guide Lines
With wide LCD monitors, it's hard to keep images perfectly level. The HD 40 Series solves this by displaying horizontal and vertical Composition Guide Lines that make it easy to keep the subject straight and level
LED Video Light
When the camera determines that the ambient lighting is insufficient, it automatically switches the light on. This illuminates your subject for shooting. The LED (light emitting diode) has low power consumption, a long service life, and the safety of a low operating temperature
Auto Lens Cover
When the power is turned on, the lens cover automatically opens. When the power goes off, the lens cover closes. You don't have to keep removing and replacing a lens cap - or worry about losing it
World Time
Setting the time is as easy as selecting a city from the displayed map. The World Time function lets you set the time for two cities, home and destination. You don't have to figure out the time difference at your destination, and it's easy when you get home
2D to 3D Conversion
2D images can be easily transformed into 3D images with the 2D to 3D Conversion function. Simply connect the camcorder to a 3D-compatible TV with an HDMI cable. The 2D to 3D Conversion function then uses the image processing capability of the engine to convert 2D images into 3D. This is an easy and casual way to enjoy the excitement of 3D without using a 3D camcorder
Advanced Highlight Playback
Select the days of the recordings you want to see, and this innovative function automatically selects the most exciting scenes, arranges them and even plays them with music. The HC-V700 features playback effects that include slow motion, still image fading and flash playback. Plus, four image effect modes - natural, pop, dynamic and classical - have also been added. You can set different effects based on the mood of your images and enjoy memorable scenes just the way you remember them when shooting
Face Highlight, Highlight & Time Frame Index
The index function has been enhanced with the addition of a feature that divides each recorded scene into a number of smaller scenes, and displays thumbnails for each. This makes it much easier to find a particular part of a scene without having to fast-forward
HDMI Interface
You can quickly connect your HD camcorder to an HDTV using the HDMI interface. It allows you to use a single cable to playback your videos in high-definition
VIERA Link
Connect your HD camcorder to a VIERA or compatible Blu-ray Disc player via an HDMI mini cable and you can control both units in synchronized operation with a single remote control. This kind of simple, easy operation makes it enjoyable to view your recordings
Playback with SD Card
Just slip the SD card from your camcorder into the SD card slot on your VIERA TV or Blu-ray Disc player and you're ready to view your Full-HD moving images
Archiving and Playback
With a USB Host function, you can connect the camcorder directly to a DVD burner via a USB cable. Then just press a button and you can copy the moving images you recorded from the SD card or built-in memory to a DVD disc
Easy AVCHD to MPEG-2 Conversion
You can make a copy either in the original high-definition AVCHD format or in the standard-definition DVD-Video (MPEG-2) format. Choose the one that matches your playback equipment
Importing Data
When the camcorder is connected to a PC, the software automatically starts up. Importing data takes only a few clicks of the mouse
Easy YouTube & Facebook Uploading
The videos you've recorded are easily uploaded to YouTube or Facebook in their original high quality format. Plus, HD Writer AE 4.0 lets you share your videos worldwide
Editing
Along with the full editing functions such as adding titles, rearrangement scenes, transition effects, and editing images, a Timeline mode has also been added. This allows a timeline to be displayed with a storyboard, for highly accurate editing while fine-tuning the timing of video images. The playback timing of background music can also be finely adjusted to enable precise insertion
Short Movie Story
The Short Movie Story function makes it possible to transform still images and videos into dramatic short videos. Once the still images or videos are selected and you choose a theme and background music, the software takes over to automatically produce the movie. When completed, you can save the video onto a disc in HD image quality, or easily upload it to YouTube or Facebook
Video Retouch
Video Retouch lets you decorate images with text, graphic painting or stamp pens. By using a game-like approach to add an extra editing touch to finished images, they become even more attractive and enjoyable
Easy Connecting for 3D Video Playback & Archiving
If you purchase the optional 3D Conversion Lens, you'll be able to play back 3D videos by simply inserting an SD Memory Card in the slot of a Panasonic VIERA 3DTV. You can also use a mini HDMI cable (sold separately) to connect the camcorder to a VIERA 3DTV or another 3DTV that is compatible with the side-by-side method. Playback is also possible through an AVCHD-compatible player/recorder

My Canon HF-100 is getting old and its weaknesses are limiting. Was about to spring for an old model of Panasonic last Dec for a low U$329, but missed the sale due to my hesitation to get it. In a way that was a blessing as the newer model is much, much better! What is amazing with this camera is the excellent image stabilization. It is really very effective and noticeable. Even at the longest FL, it never waivered and kept a steady shot. It is also decent in low light as it being 1/2.33 sensor size compared to the othe models which are 1/4. Another pro is it's 28mm at the wide end. I wish it were 24mm, but it's a bonus already at 28mm. Add to it a 20x plus zoom and you can be in the 700mm+ range optically. You can also use the intelligent zoom to extend it to 40x with very little image loss. And indeed the images are very good even at this range. At 60x zoom, some loss is noticeable especially near the 60x, but the images are useful if you want more range. Video holds well in low light. It is clean with hardly some noise and detail is not quashed or mushed. Very little gain is seen, though the colors tend to be muted a bit. Only in the lowest light does the noise reduction lessen the detail but it is noticeable only if one pixel peeps. I also like it when you can just open the LCD screen and it powers on quickly ready for use. Close it, and it powers off unless you set it to a quick start w/c drains battery but is more instantaneous. It has manual overrides and most of the stuff you can change, though you have to use the touchscreen. Some may like that some don't. The touchscreen though is a responsive and need no hard pressing. But the initial access seems hard if you have big fingers as the arrows and the like are a bit small on the lower edge of the screen. Cons are few and some of them can be remedied, though at a cost. For example, it's silly for Panasonic not to provide an external charger. You have to charge the battery in the camera to charge batteries! Bad move! My Panny TS4 has a charger that can do it out of it, why not this videocam? Rubbing salt to injury, the external charger is very expensive! I also miss an audio jack or earphone monitoring jack. Now, I can probably ignore this if it has an audio meter of the sound coming in, but it doesn't. My old HF-100 has both, so it is a great help if you want to know if you are clipping the sound input with an external mic in manual mode. Without either features, going manual is a hit or miss affair and you are forced to use AGC and there are shoots that is not conducive to AGC. Concerts/performances with quiet parts are such examples. I find it also limiting that it has no 30p, even in 720, which it also does not have. 30p would probably give one 1 more stop in low light situations, even if this camera is very good in low light at 60p. I also wish a backlight compensation button is available, Other niggles are minor like having to get another battery. The standard batt lasts about 1 hour. You may have to get a 2nd battery or a the higher cap batt. Used a Transcend 16gb Class 10, but a Kingston micro-SD with Adapter Class 4 works quite as well. Recorded 41 min straight of 1080-60p without drops or missing images. I find the battery release a bit annoying as you have to flip open the LCD to access the slider for that. Trouble is, in auto on mode, the camera is turned on. Now you have to manually push the power off button to turn it off, unless you want to shut off without powering off w/c might damage the data in your SD. It adds steps to a simple process. Next time Panny should put that slider outside or at least have it more accessible without having to open the LCD. I also found the slider for Photo-Video-Review mode hard to slide. That in a way is good if you want to prevent it from being changed inadvertantly, but it the slider is a bit hard to push either way. I also noticed that once in review mode, you have to touch screen to pick Photo or Video Review. You can't see both. But it is a nice touch to filter out reviews by date or to see it all. It is also easy to do a framegrab in video review. And the photo captured is of very good. It can stand alone as if a stills was taken even if it is just 2.1mp. In fact, I can even venture to have it enlarged to 5x7 or even 8x10 if the image is shot in good light. It is that clean and solid. If you are shooting a wedding, or travelling, no need to shift to photo mode (w/c is hard to slide) as you can get a decent 2.1mp stills from frame grab. Being 60p, the images are solid and no fuzzies as in interlaced modes. IN SUMMARY It's pluses outweighs the minuses. IQ is very good for a 1/2.33 sensor both in video and stills, Stabilization is excellent and unbelievable even in the longest FL's even with digital zoom used. Though I have just have it for a few days, I have done basic tests already to test it near its limits and find out its features and what it can and cannot do. I am amazed at its features though some of its weaknesses can be annoying (no audio meter or audio out), or having to buy an external charger to be able to charge the battery away from the camera. Other than these, this is an excellent upgrade and I think 3-4 years down the road, even with new models coming out, this will still be viable and useful. It would take a 120p and maybe better low light to get it to make me buy a replacement. I have not mentioned other featues or advantages but this review is as long as it is. In the end, this is an excellent camera and a worthy upgrade to my 3-4 year old Canon HF-100's. If this proves very good in the coming months, I may get a 2nd one. I am a semi-pro and this proves useful in shooting weddings and sports/action as well.

I am satisfied with the camcorder, it performs as I expected. I am not happy with the "bait and switch" extended warranty offer I received after registering the camcorder with Panasonic. After registering the camcorder I received three emails offering to sell me a 3-year extended warranty for [$]. When I attempted to accept the offer I was told that it did not apply to my camcorder, I would have to pay more. This is an example of an unethical false advertising practice typically called "bait and switch".

Comments about Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder:

I purchased this camera for my company to record a rocket launch from the ground for my company. I tested the camera itself but I should have run it through its paces as if I were filming a rocket. If I would have, I would have discovered a default setting in the camera made for the average home user that automatically stops recording when the camera is pointed straight down. You see there is this cute little feature called AGS. It really helps save your recording space if you forget to pause the recording when you pull the camera away from your eyes and point it down. It will automatically pause it for you.

Unfortunately since rockets go "up", that is a very similar direction to "Down". When the rocket was above about 45 degrees the camera would automatically stop recording. I kept recycling the record button and it kept shutting back off. I ended up missing most of the flight because of this feature, but if I would have tested the camera in advance I would have caught the problem and fixed it before the flight. There is a menu setting that took care of it.

I would have also been well served to disable the auto focus feature of the camera once I had the distance set to infinity. As the target gets smaller in the sky, the focus starts to search for the target even though it is still in view causing it to go out of focus. Again this is a menu setting...

Since that time I have used the camera for many different events. The video it produces is superb! The smooth motion of the 60P recording is unmatched, and the zoom clarity is fantastic. none of those features are what I would call the best part though. The best part is the quality of the hybrid OIS, or image stabilization. At normal zoom ranges, it can make hand held video look nearly as good as tripod mounted video. It doesn't just correct for shake, but also tilt and rotation.

Overall I would rate this camera a 5 if the battery lasted just a bit longer. you can get 30 to 40 minutes of recording if you run straight through. If you take many different shots it will not last long enough. I recommend buying an extra battery or 2 as well as a 32G SD card. I purchased the 16G SD card and it is enough for most events, but having the extra capacity is a good thing.

I found this camera to be very durable. I took it to the desert and in spite of the environment, it performed great there and has been great back at the shop.

It also takes descent still photos, but much of that is because of the great image stabilization and sharp zoom capability.

I am tempted to try the 3D option, but I have yet to purchase the parts needed for that function.

I purchased this camera specifically because of the image stabilization and the smooth motion capability of 1080P 60fps capability. I was absolutely blown away by those features, and it was well worth the small drawbacks I had with the initial set up just for those qualities alone.

If you want a fantastic camera at a very reasonable price, this is a good bet. When we go to launch again, I will no doubt purchase more to cover different camera angles. Shoot, I may even launch one of these on the rocket to get some HD video from space!

Comments about Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder:

I purchased the HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder based on reviews by persons who are more experienced than I am -- Thank You folks.

              The picture quality is excellent.
The auto focus is a bit faster than on my Sony camcorder of comparable quality. The HC-V700 is my preferred camera.

The camcorder handles well, is easy to use.
              Does well in low light.
Am making excellent still images from the videos.

Primary subjects are our cats, deer, bears, birds, raccoons, butterflies, nature and scenery.

Comments about Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder:

This is my first camcorder and I bought it to record my trip and my brother's wedding.
              Pros:
Very easy to use, light weight, small (can be a disadvantage for people with big hands). User interface is intuitive. 28mm wide angle which is a big plus specially shooting indoors. Great video quality when shooting outdoors. 21X zoom is great. Sound quality is good.

Cons: Battery life is bad, when shooting 60p videos the battery (which comes with the unit) will last around 40-45 mins. Despite it has a very large sensor compared to other models and competition, the indoor video quality is not that good. The quality is grainy and not sharp. But I haven't seen Canon, as per the reviews Canon has slightly better low light performance. The software that comes with panasonic is average, it only has very basic, effects and filters.

Conclusion: Overall I think it is a good camcorder for beginners and will do a great job most of the time. Do get an extended battery pack. I am keeping it.

Just got this camcorder for Christmas and we love it. It was so easy to learn to use and the video clips download right into my iMovie '11 with no effort. We were recording in just a few minutes out of the box and looked like pros after we put it on my Mac. We are anticipating a grandchild in just a few months so we are looking forward to capturing a lots of precious moments with this great little camera.

Comments about Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder:

I was fortunate enough to catch this camera on sale and for the cost, the value of what you get is well worth it. This camera has a larger sensor than most in its class, devoted mainly to the terrific image stabilization features. There's an LED light but you will likely need an external light source to take low-light video. I've tested it indoors and outdoors, both came across very nicely at the 60p 1080 settings. The only "gripe" I would note is that, at times, the LCD screen tends to "pixelate" for a brief second before going back to normal. I would also invest in extra batteries, wall charger, memory card (since the "K" model does not include built-in memory).

I use this camera to shoot home videos and to film my sons playing sports. The camera is very easy to use and the included software allows for easy editing of videos. The still frame grab during video is a very nice feature. I also enjoy burst shots with the still camera. The only issue I have found is that in still mode, the flash is a bit too intense. You get a lot of red eye in still shots. But, I bought this camera for videos, not stills. Great product!

Very easy to use and image stabilizer is very nice. As with most less expensive camcorders, lower light situations can cause some digital noise, but nothing prohibitive. With plenty of light the video quaility is great. Also a plus having the shoe mount and mic input. Touch screen works well and menus are fairly easy to navigate.

Recomend getting second battery. Works fine with "genetic" battery and does show amt of power left. Don't waste money for Panasonic battery.

Comments about Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder:

After doing tons of research on consumer camcorder I was confident to get this model. It surely meets my high expectation of great picture/movie quality. The indoor movie quality is great too which is important too for taking video of my family at home. More over, there are many features that blow my mind. The image sensor is big to allow good low light and general picture quality. Make sure you use the best speed SD card.

Comments about Panasonic HC-V700 Full HD Camcorder:

I've been using the camcorder for both recording family events and for recording my live band. It works just fine in the Intelligent Auto mode on a tripod for recording the band using only regular stage lighting. It also works fine for normal indoor shooting of family events without using the built-in video light. The audio quality isn't great, but then what camcorder has great built-in sound? I'll probably add an external mic for when I need higher quality sound. It's single-pic mode is nothing to write home about, my iPhone takes better stills and so does my Canon 5.0 megapixel still pic camera, but the high-quality mode for video is quite acceptable for this price range. It also has an iMovie recording mode (lower quality), so if you only have iMovie, then it will still work. I thought the quality was too low in that mode, so went back up to ACDHD/60p and it imports into Final Cut Pro X just fine. I've only had it for about 2 weeks, and it's my first camcorder, but so far, I'm very happy with the price/performance ratio.

I just recorded a band concert on stage at school and even with the poor lighting the resolution was breathtaking and even the sound quality was great!
No cons after using it twice.

This is much higher quality than I expected from the descriptions and much easier to use.

Amateur user. But this camera doesn't take a pro to use. Easy to start taking quality clips, or movies. All that's left for me is to learn editing software. Just can't say how happy I am with this camera. Plus the service and delivery from B&H is awesome. Great people to deal with. I was going to get a 64G SD card, but used a 32G I had around the house. Can't believe how much recording you can do with it. Recorded a large family Christmas party, took some pictures with it. Still have over 75% left to record on. WOW.... Just very happy with this camera. Everyone gives compliments on it. They just can't believe you can get the images and clips/movies with the quality it provides.
