Due to the high demand Fujifilm received from its customers in 2011, when the original X100 was released, the company now presents an all black model, aptly named the X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera. Featuring the simplicity and beauty of an old school rangefinder, the X100 harkens back to a time when press photographers stalked the streets doggedly, looking for the next iconic image. The all black design adds to the camera's stealth, while simultaneously giving it a beauty rarely seen in today's cameras. What's more, the X100 BLACK feels like a traditional rangefinder, with just the right amount of "heft" - letting you know you're carrying a camera that's ready to work.

Fujifilm will only produce 10,000 of these BLACK Limited Edition X100's; once they're gone, they're gone. Each unit will come with a message card, numbering the camera, as proof that it is only one of 10,000 in the series. The X100 BLACK edition will also come with a genuine leather ever-ready case, a lens hood, metal adapter ring, and protective filter.

While the X100 is all traditional rangefinder design on the outside, it's all 21st-century technology on the inside. It has a fixed focal length 35mm (equivalent in 35mm format) lens with a very bright f/2.0 aperture and a 9-blade diaphragm for beautiful blur in out-of-focus areas (bokeh), plus, a very large APS-C CMOS sensor with 12.3Mp of resolution and the EXR Processor.

The switchable hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder and a high resolution 2.8" LCD monitor with 460K-dot resolution make capturing images with the X100 a real joy. The X100 senses when you bring your eye to the viewfinder, automatically switching into viewfinder mode. When you lower the camera, it switches back to the LCD. You can also choose to set the camera on LCD or viewfinder only mode, depending on your shooting needs.

The X100 will also give you 720p HD video with stereo sound. Other non-traditional features include sensitivity from 100 to 12800 ISO, RAW capture and in-camera processing for the highest quality images possible, along with high-speed contrast autofocus. You can use the Film Simulation mode to give your photos the distinctive look of Fujifilm's Velvia, PROVIA or ASTIA color films, or monochrome. Macro mode will focus as close as 4" from the lens, and a built-in 3-f/stop neutral density (ND) filter can be activated with a simple on/off switch.  Additional features include built-in auto bracketing functions, 5fps high speed continuous shooting, 49 points selectable auto focus and manual focusing, among other focusing features, a TTL based flash system, and then some.

X100 BLACK Limited Edition
FUJIFILM Corporation presents a limited release of 10,000 units of the high-end compact digital camera "FUJIFILM X100 BLACK Limited Edition" worldwide. The company has been receiving numerous requests for a black version of the X100 since its original launch in March of 2011.

The package of the X100 BLACK Limited Edition contains the camera unit, a genuine leather ever-ready case, a lens hood, metal adapter ring, and protective filter. Each package comes with a message card reading a number as proof that it is one of only 10,000 units produced. The model will end its sales when all 10,000 units are sold out

Hybrid Viewfinder
There's an indescribable pleasure that peering through a viewfinder provides. And now Fujifilm has taken this further with the launch of the newly developed Hybrid Viewfinder. Whether you're framing your shot through the Optical Viewfinder (OVF), or Electronic Viewfinder (EVF), your eye will not only see the subject and scene, but also a range of shooting data projected by an integrated high-definition LCD panel. This perfect marriage of intuitive analogue operation and state-of-the-art digital functionality gives birth to the discovery of new dimensions of enjoyment behind the lens of the ultimate compact
Instantly Switch Between OVF and EVF
When you want to view the subject with maximum clarity, or keep shutter time lag to a minimum, the Optical Viewfinder (OVF) impresses with stunning optical quality. For confirmation of focus, exposure, white balance, and depth of field while shooting the scene, just move the lever to Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). According to the demands of the shooting conditions and your creative inspiration, the FinePix X100 empowers you with the capability to switch between two viewfinders
Vivid Frame and Text Data Display Projected from the Built-In LCD
Using a conventional "bright frame" optical viewfinder configuration as a base, the FinePix X100 has an integrated 1,440,000 dot LCD panel to display shooting information. Compared with a conventional display that uses an illuminating window to bring in external light, this hybrid approach produces a crisply defined bright frame and sharp easy-to-read text information
Reverse Galilean Optical Clarity
Offering a comfortable field of view (approximately 26°), the viewfinder magnification of 0.5 is ideal for lenses with a 35mm focal length (135 equivalent). Adoption of a high-precision prism, high-refractive glass, and Super EBC coating, enhance the enjoyment of a bright, clear optical image with minimal aberrations
Amazing Clarity in Both OVF and EVF
The unique viewfinder shutter controls the entry of light from the optical viewfinder. When it is open, your eye sees the precise clarity of an optical image. When it is closed, the sharp definition of the Live View projected the LCD panel is displayed
Built-In Diopter Adjustment
You can easily change viewfinder focus settings from -2 to +1m (dpt) via the dial located next to the viewfinder
Eyepiece Supports Viewing by Eyeglass Wearers
By setting a relatively high eye point (distance between the eyepiece and the naked eye) of about 15mm, the design facilitates natural and comfortable viewing even by eyeglass wearers
Optical Viewfinder (OVF)
Framing shots with the sharply defined bright frame projected by the LCD panel is a real pleasure. In addition, the freedom to customize the information displayed in the viewfinder lets you confirm key settings while you enjoy framing your shots
Automatically Adjust Frame and Information Display Brightness
Automatically adjusting multiple levels of display brightness according to ambient light conditions, the Hybrid Viewfinder delivers the crystal clarity of the optical image while optimizing the brightness of the frame and information display for comfortable framing of every shot
Power Control System: OVF Power Save Mode
If you turn this mode on when using the optical viewfinder, the power saving system is activated, doubling the maximum number of images per full charge from 300 in normal operation. It is ideal for getting the most of your battery capacity and getting a few more valuable shots out of your charge
Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) - 100% Coverage 1.44 Million Dots of HD Quality
When using the EVF, you will enjoy 100% coverage on a sharp image display delivered by a 0.47" high definition LCD delivering 1,440,000 dots of resolution. From precision framing of macro shots with "Live View" to quick post-shot reviewing of your results, the EVF is ready with its vividly accurate display whenever you need it
LCD Monitor
Boasting a bright, high contrast LCD with the convenience of a wide viewing angle, the 2.8" 460,000 dot LCD monitor provides a simple preview of the shooting data in addition to showing the content as the electronic viewfinder
3:2 Aspect Ratio
The FinePix X100 captures images with an aspect ratio of 3:2, and the large LCD screen provides an ample screen with an additional outer "frame" where the shooting information is displayed without blocking your view of your composition
Eye Sensor
When you bring the camera to your eye, the viewfinder can sense it and will switch automatically to viewfinder mode. Then when you lower the camera the display switches to the LCD on the back of the camera. Alternatively, you can select to always display images on the LCD or to always use the viewfinder, depending on your preferences
23mm F2 Single Focal Lens (Equivalent to 35mm/135 Format)
The best image quality without compromise, packed into a slim compact body that you want to take everywhere with you... These were the aims when the FinePix X100 was being developed. And they have been achieved through the incorporation of a newly developed, non-interchangeable, non-collapsible, fixed focal length lens. While featuring the generous brightness of a maximum F2 aperture, the large-diameter rear lens groups is integrated into the body for an ultra-slim profile. In addition, the optimization of the sensor for this special lens fully exploits the advantage of a fixed focal length lens for superior edge-to-edge image quality
Optical Design with a Priority on Performance
The simple lens configuration of 6 groups / 8 elements centered on a spherical lens is all manufacturer from glass. High refractive index glass is used for the single high-performance, double-sided aspheric lens and all convex lens elements. The pursuit of uncompromising image quality continues with the adoption of other technology in the FinePix X100 lens design, including front group focusing for image quality stability and Super EBC coating for ghost-free clear images. The result is perfectly balanced excellence, promising lower aberrations, sharp resolution, and faithful color reproduction
Aperture
Providing a circular opening at the largest aperture, the 9-blade aperture diaphragm lets you capture pleasingly defocused background effects. Even with a slight wide-angle, the background is softly out of focus while the foreground is sharply defined. At f/2 to f/4, the circular "bokeh" effect is especially beautiful
10cm Macro
The FinePix X100 lets you bring the tip of the lens as close as 10cm from flowers, cuisine, and accessories and other subjects to reveal extraordinary detail. Macro photography reveals the extraordinary in the ordinary
The Built-In ND Filter
Equivalent to 3 f-stops, the ND filter in the FinePix X100 lens reduces the amount of light to 1/8. In situations where the light is very strong but you want to shoot at a slow shutter speed, or do not desire to close the aperture, the built-in ND filter captures the flow of water or flowers swaying in the breeze in bright sunlight, or professional portraits with a beautifully defocused background
APS-C 12Mp CMOS Sensor
Packing in 12.3 million pixels, the large APS-C CMOS sensor debuts a new standard in a high sensitivity/low noise performance and superior image quality, achieving about 10 times the sensitivity of any conventional FinePix compact to date. In addition, using an ingenious approach to the drive and mechanics of the sensor, heat generated by the large-size sensor is effectively dissipated, preventing degradation of performance and image quality
Customized to Maximize Lens Performance
By optimizing the arrangement of the microlens array for the special FinePix X100 lens, the angle of captured incident light from the lens is expanded, improving light collection all the way to the edge area of the image sensor. As a result, a sufficient quantity of light can be directed to the photo-diodes for the production of exceptionally sharp and clear image quality, even in the image edge areas
EXR Processor
The synergy of the APS-C CMOS Sensor and the EXR Processor produces exceptional image quality every time you press the shutter. Featuring dual CPUs, EXR Core, and Reconfigurable Processor, this next-generation processing engine elevates the performance of Fujifilm's innovative EXR technology trio: HR (High Resolution), DR (Wide Dynamic Range), and SN (High Sensitivity and Low Noise). While delivering the highest image quality every produced by a Finepix camera, the EXR Processor also lets you enjoy a host of advanced functions such as HD video and high-speed continuous shooting. The chip also integrates a Vector Graphic Processor that drives the improved image quality and readability of the GUI
HR: High Resolution Technology
When lighting is bright and even, HR technology uses full resolution and the power of advanced signal processing to capture the finest detail. From the leaves on the trees to a wisp of hair in a portrait, every detail is captured with astonishing clarity and definition
DR: Wide Dynamic Range Technology
In high contrast scenes, DR technology prevents washed out highlights and shadow detail lost to blackness. When shooting portraits under strong sunlight or landscapes with a strong contrast between bright and dark areas DR technology brings out the natural tonality in both highlights and shadows
SN: High Sensitivity and Low Noise Technology
Even shooting at high sensitivity, the clarity is stunning with extremely low noise and minimal false color generation. Indoors and in other low-light scenes, SN technology captures the natural beauty of the moment
Film Simulation Mode
Color Photography
Just like choosing the ideal film for your creative direction, this easy-to-use mode lets you simulate the color and tonal qualities of color reversal film types loved by professional photographers: the true-to-scene natural look of PROVIA, the vibrant tonality and saturated colors of Velvia, and the silky soft look and beautiful skin tones of ASTIA. The FinePix X100 makes it simple to take photographs with distinctive Fujichrome color - a quality that only film could previously capture

Monochrome Photography
Replicating the effects of monochrome film photography the FinePix X100 lets you use color filters to expand your photographic interpretation. Heighten contrast with the Ye filter and R filter. Brighten greens and deepen reds with the G filter. Just as you once selected a filter and printing paper to complement your creative vision, the FinePix X100 empowers expression with your choice of an array of image quality enhancement functions

Expanded Dynamic Range
Dynamic range can be expanded to prevent "blackout" or "washout" of the subject in high contrast lighting, and can bring out the detail in shadow and highlights. In addition to automatic optimization, the user can manually select 100%, 200%, and 400% dynamic range. Capture natural gradations from the brightest to the darkest parts of the image just as the eye sees them
RAW Shooting
One-touch RAW button
The default format is JPEG, but if you want to take the next shot in RAW, with just a touch of the RAW button you can switch to JPEG+RAW and capture the next scene in both

In-camera RAW converter
The FinePix X100's built-in RAW data converter lets you view your results when you're on the move without the need for your PC. In addition to the conversion of RAW data taking into account exposure compensation, white balance and other in-camera image quality control settings, the user can also apply Film Simulation mode in the converter mode

Self Timer (2 or 10 Seconds)
Use the menu to select the Self Timer function. It is not only great for group photos, but also comes in handy in macro photography and low exposure shots, when you want to avoid blur caused by manual shutter release
Easy-to-Use AE/AF Lock Button
With a touch of the special AE/AF Lock button, you can lock both exposure and focus for the subject. Using the setup menu, you can also set the button to lock only AE or AF
Selectable Metering Modes
From a choice of "multi" metering for accurate response to a variety of lighting conditions, "spot" metering for precise reading of approximately 2% of the viewfinder area in the center of the screen, and "average" metering for an average exposure setting for the entire scene, you can swiftly select the best metering for your shot
3-Stop ND Filter Built-Into the Lens
The FinePix X100 incorporates an ND filter in the lens so you can take full advantage of the bright F2's optical excellence. Just turn it On in the menu and you are ready for scenes where a slower shutter speed or a more a open aperture is desirable
Image Quality Control
Color, tone, and sharpness adjustment
Fine-tune image quality with "Color" for color saturation adjustment, "Highlight Tone", and "Shadow Tone" for tweaking contrast in highlights and shadows, and "Sharpness" to stress or soften image outlines. With this detailed image quality control, you can produce an image that precisely matches your creative objectives

Two color space types
Depending on how you intend to use the image, the FinePix X100 lets you choose output color space: sRGB for a standard range of color reproduction on general displays or the broader color rendition of Adobe RGB

Noise reduction control
Sensitivity versus noise reduction. Depending on your priority, the FinePix X100 lets you choose from 5 levels of noise reduction to adjust the textural quality when shooting high sensitivity scenes

White Balance Settings
Kelvin value setting
In addition to Auto White Balance, the FinePix X100 offers a choice of 9 white balance presets to compensate for the color of different light sources. Users can also set a Custom White Balance using a gray card or other surface, or select the optimum Kelvin value

Precise white balance setting
For precision correction of white balance, or to explore the creative effects you can achieve from filters, the X100 lets you fine tune white balance by adjusting R (red) to Cy (cyan), and B (blue) to Ye (yellow) in +/-9 steps

ISO Sensitivity
ISO 200-6400 sensitivity setting range
The FinePix X100 lets you expand the normal sensitivity range of ISO 200-6400 to ISO 100-12800, and by assigning this setting to the Fn button, extended sensitivity is available at a touch

ISO ceiling setting and minimum shutter speed limit
ISO Auto automatically adjusts the ISO within in a range of ISO 200 to 3200 when it is not possible to get an appropriate exposure. With this control you can freely set an ISO Auto sensitivity ceiling up to 3200 and a maximum shutter speed down to 1/4 second, highly useful as a safeguard against unintentional high-sensitivity shots and blurring caused by camera shake

Powerful Built-In Auto Bracketing Functions
Empowering you with a choice of four different auto bracketing functions (AE, ISO Sensitivity, Dynamic Range, and Film Simulation), the FinePix X100 lets you experience the wide world of photographic expression

Dynamic Range bracketing
Select this bracketing mode, press the shutter once, and capture 3 exposures of the same scene with high-speed continuous shooting, each at a different Dynamic Range setting (100%, 200%, and 400%)

Film Simulation bracketing
One press of the shutter produces 3 images of the scene, each with a different Film Simulation effect (PROVIA, Velvia, and ASTIA) based on a single exposure

AE bracketing
One press of the shutter captures 3 shots of the same scene at different exposures. AE bracketing can be set in 1/3, 2/3, and 1EV steps

ISO Sensitivity bracketing
Based on a single exposure, this bracketing function automatically reproduces the scenes as 3 images, each with a different ISO sensitivity, letting you capture the moment with varying degrees of brightness. Setting is possible in 1/3, 2/3, and 1EV steps

5fps High Speed Continuous Shooting
The combination of the high readout speed of the CMOS sensor and the improved processing speed of the EXR Processor enables the FinePix X100 to shoot 5 frames per second (maximum capacity: 10 frames). Capture a series of exposures of moving subjects and other challenging photographic scenes with high-speed continuous shooting performance, and later select the best shot
Focusing
49 points selectable AF

Within the scene, the auto focus area is divided into a 49-point matrix (25 points in the case of OVF). AF accurately and swiftly recognizes the primary subject and brings it into crystal clear focus, and also lets you freely select the position of the AF frame. Using the electronic viewfinder and the LCD monitor, you can also change the AF frame size and pinpoint the focusing

0.01s shutter time lag

When using an OVF you reduce shutter lag (and therefore missed photo opportunities) as your eye and your subject don't have a sensor in between them to delay the transfer of the data

High-speed contrast detection auto focus

Accelerated by the combination of the high-speed signal readout of the fast CMOS sensor and the newly developed EXR Processor, the contrast detection AF delivers a huge leap in speed and precision, so you never miss a shot

Two manual focusing methods

The distance index bar is displayed in the viewfinder together with the depth of field scale and aperture value, providing helpful guides for focusing. It is also possible to adjust focus by rotating the focus ring while checking the image in Live View. One touch focus point zoom is also available to confirm sharp focus

AF Assist Lamp for low-light scenes

In low-light settings when even the subject is hard to see through the viewfinder, the AF Assist Lamp illuminates the subject and assists Auto Focus

High-precision AF even for macro shooting

Even in the case of macro photography, where depth-of-field is shallow and focusing requires extreme precision, AF delivers superbly sharp focus for subjects as close as 10cm from the lens

Diopter adjustment dial

Located next to the viewfinder, the dial lets you adjust viewfinder focus from -2 to +1m (dpt) to accommodate eyeglass wearers

Operation-Oriented Functions
Satisfying shutter sensation
The feel and sound of the shutter are also important design elements. Every factor from the location and size of the shutter button to the stroke, where half and fully depressed was given passionate scrutiny. Users can select from 4 types of shutter sound: Lens Shutter, Focal Plane Shutter, Mirror Up, and Silent Shutter

Quick "On" Mode
After powering off the FinePix X100 it enters a sleep state for up to 20 minutes. If the power is turned on during this time the FinePix X100 wakes in 0.7 seconds (compared with a cold start time of 2.2 seconds) and is ready for you to frame and capture the moment

Customization Functions
Fn button for one-touch access to frequently used functions
You can assign any one of the following frequently used functions to the Fn (Function) button and enjoy smooth one-touch controls during shooting: ISO sensitivity (default setting), depth of field confirmation, image size, image quality mode, Dynamic Range, Film Simulation, ND filter On/Off, AF mode selection (area selection/auto area), movie shooting, custom setting, and self timer

Save custom settings
The FinePix X100 lets you create, save, and instantly recall up to 3 sets of user-defined settings, covering all parameters from ISO sensitivity and image size to white balance. No fumbling through menus and missing the shot. When the moment comes, you are always ready with your favorite pre-defined settings to smoothly capture the scene

Motion Panorama 180 - Photo Gallery Quality
As you sweep the camera across the scene, the FinePix X100 captures multiple images and seamlessly stitches them together into a single panoramic photo. Even when enlarged to an A3 size print, there is virtually no loss of resolution. Holding the camera horizontally or vertically, Motion Panorama lets you shoot 120° or 180° views
Super Intelligent Flash
Adopting Fujifilm's original TTL automatic flash control technology, the built-in high-precision flash system is ready to supplement lighting when shooting small items or capturing special occasions indoors and in other low-light situations. When even more light is required, or when shooting with the lens hood attached, you can use a separately sold TTL flash
HD Movie
Premium quality movies
Exploiting the amazing quality and performance of the large CMOS sensor and high-speed processor, the FinePix X100 can shoot up to 10 minutes of high definition video (720p, 24fps). In addition to full AUTO exposure, you can also shoot with aperture priority AE. Taking advantage of the bright F2 lens, you can capture movies with a softly defocused "bokeh" background. Later, with plug-and-play ease, connect the camera directly to your TV with the HDMI cable (not included) and enjoy sharing your movies, complete with stereo sound, on the big screen

3x digital zoom movie shooting

I generally use this for street photography, and I find it very agile and light-weight. Before the software updates the auto-focus was a bit slow, but it works pretty well now. I've found it almost impossible to actually focus manually with this camera, especially if something is moving. That's my only large gripe.

If you can get past the issues with autofocusing, it takes light splendidly. I've been able to take pictures in almost pitch black.

The colors that come out of this camera are beautiful. The JPG modes work relatively well, especially with some of the black and white settings. I've yet to experiment heavily with the raw files, but from what I can tell so far they have come out well.

The case that comes with the camera is very nice, but I will complain that it doesn't fit the camera with a lens hood or filters on.

One other concerns is the difficulty with putting on lens protectors/filters. The adapter ring must come first, followed by the filter, which doesn't very well accomodate the case, lens cap, or the lens hood. I've been fine without it so far though, and have had minimal issues with glare as some people have reported.

I had read many reviews on the Fujifilm X100 and decided to see if I could get the quality I wanted by using negative exposure compensation to hold down the highlights or referred to as white orbs. When you pick up the X100 you immediately note the exquisite build quality. The controls are all in the right places, outstanding Fujinon lens and RAW file format. I wanted a full featured, high quality travel camera. I spent my life as a working professional photographer and wanted to downsize in my retirement. I spent a day photographing all kinds of subject manner and really enjoyed working with this little gem. My disappointment came after doing RAW conversions in Aperture and making 13 X 19 inch prints. I could not get detail in the highlights in the color prints but strangely was able to print full tonal range in black and white. The color files and images were right on for saturated color and sharpness but the white orbs and highlight detail was non existant. I believe that Fujifilm is on the right path with this camera concept but have failed with a poor sensor. The Fujifilm X Pro-1 is having the same issues with white highlight wash outs and manual focus awkwardness. I have already sent the X100 back to B&H and will decide on another camera. A big compliment to B&H for their easy and streamlined return process. This return process really easies your anxiety about buying a brand new camera model or any product they sell. Also having the option for their "Bill Me Later" program makes it easy to get the camera gear right away and not have to put it on a credit card. Very few people I know these days can put out the full purchase price.

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

After giving birth to my daughter last year, I decided it was time to invest in a smaller camera. While I still love my Nikon D200 and all of my lenses, it's just too big to lug around with a baby and all of the baby gear that comes with us everywhere we go, and it certainly doesn't fit in the diaper bag. I wanted a smaller mirrorless camera with comparable picture quality and manual controls. So, after much research, I narrowed it down to the Fuji X100 and the pricier Fuji X-Pro1. I ultimately chose the X100 and, after eight months of use, I am still happy with my purchase. This camera takes stellar images with incredible color — better color than my Nikon — and is simple to use, especially after installing the firmware update, which improved the menu functions, among other things. Menu options even include color settings based on three types of Fuji film stock — provia, astia, and black and white. Cycling can be a bit slow at times, but the picture quality more than makes up for it. And it's small enough to carry around, with a fixed lens (23mm digital/35mm film) that's perfect for most types of photography. Oh, and it's throwback rangefinder design looks good, too. Love this camera and highly recommend it!

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

Now that I have used this camera for several months I must say this little camera is not without its quirks but it is a joy to use. You can set it and forget it. I use it mostly with the EVF and love it for landscapes and street photography. Most people cannot tell if I am taking their picture or not. The Black and White mode is nice. I got some great street scens in downtown Kansas City on a recent trip. Colors are amazing as well. I agree with other reviewers that the jpegs are very nice straight out of camera. Small, discrete, and silent. A great photo companion that I toss in my messenger bag when I travel for work or play.

I love this camera. The ISO performance is excellent and the lens is nice and sharp. The controls are comfortable and easy to use and it's a great looking camera. Only thing I don't like is the manual focus is very slow/unresponsive and the camera not being able to switch to macro mode automatically.

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

I use cameras for capturing the atmosphere of places and situations. I usually preset my cameras and concentrate on the world recording what I perceive as unique. The X100 handles as any of my film cameras and will be an extension of my tool kit for just that. It adds the benefit of immediate appreciation, ease of presentation and excellent image quality.
The only quip would be the near impossible manual focus ring (which oddly enough works better at below zero), poor low-light autofocus capabilities and the built in flash (which I have also found great use for!). I would have liked to be able to cover the knobs on the back, possibly the screen as well and would have liked to get rid of the video feature. This is a stills camera of some excellence and needs no gimmicks.

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

I played my x100 black for about 10 hours total. I like it so far. There are few things I want mention:1. there is no instruction for how to put adapter ring and protective filter. If get wrong side, x100 will shut down for micro-focus. 2. The shutter sound is very interesting. I thought it was something wrong with the camera in the beginning. 3. If Fuji can have a string connect lens cover and camera, that will be very nice. I really afraid I will loss the lens cover. 4. I update framework 1.30 right the way. I did research shows there was focus problem for earlier framework. I am tolerate with 1.30 so far. 5. Design is cool, classic. I think silver color is not bad choice too. 6. I have sony 5N, I got tired of it about 2 months. I think X100 will keep me busy for a longer time. there are something new when I play with it.

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

Great walk around/travel camera for the size. The image quality is outstanding coming from this small camera. It is quite slow when it comes to focusing, therefore you must plan the shot for a moving subject. Overall it's a great camera. The special edition comes with everything so there isn't no accessories to purchase separately other than an extra battery if you want. BH throw in the flash with is even more of a bargain.

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

I wanted a carry-with-me-everywhere camera, that would't make me wish I hadn't left the DSLR system at home when I viewed the images. I was considering a mirror-less camera system, but uncertainty about future lens offerings and competitive shakeouts put this off for now.

Image quality from the X100 blows me away. Results from f2.0 and ISO 1600 are beautiful all the way up to 12x18 image size. The single focal length lens (~35mm) is not a problem for how I will generally use this camera, and allows me to concentrate on mastering a single perspective.

With it's large size sensor it is like having a dslr in your coat pocket. The photos are fabulous.
Retro look a plus and having the ability to go manual is also great.

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

I bought this camera for every day carry. It's the camera I take when I only need one lens. The 35mm equivalent lens is a pretty good compromise for all-around performance. Image quality is very good, and color rendition is also very pleasing. Controls are simple and intuitive. I'd read reviews that complained about auto-focus speed, but the latest firmware seems to have fixed this, as it focuses pretty quickly and accurately. The light metering on this camera does not seem to be as "intelligent" as on my Olympus micro 4/3 cameras (PEN E-P2 and OMD) It's a lot more common to under or over expose shots with the X100 than with my Olympus cameras. I don't think that the light meter in the X100 is inaccurate, but the metering program doesn't seem to recognize and adjust for odd lighting situations as well as I'm used to. Metering with the X100 reminds me a lot of shooting with my old Canon F1 film camera. The good news is that when shooting in RAW, there's so much information in the files that I can almost always compensate for over/under exposure. The optical view finder is great, clear, and bright, and it is my preferred shooting option. The electronic view finder is only fair, and not up to the level of the Olympus micro 4/3 efv's. One disappointment with the "black" accessory package is that the camera case will not fit the camera if I have the uv lens protector filter attached. This is somewhat disappointing, as my preferred set up is to use a filter, but no cap.

lens is super sharp! auto iso with auto dynamic range working together is great for quick snapshots anywhere...

Comments about Fujifilm X100 BLACK Limited Edition Digital Camera:

It feels great and looks great too. File size is ample for street photography, unless you want to make wall prints..! The handling is superb with short cut buttons for ISO RAW and view options close to hand. Also the ability to zoom in on playback to 100% at the touch of a button is genius (wish my 5D's had that). Shame 1 battery won't last me a day, even with all the power savers on, but it's like carrying film having to switch batteries.. I wonder if Josef Koudelka would have used one?
