I got to see this bag before I bought it so I was pretty sure it would fit my camera and I was proved correct. The canon t3i fits snugly inside the bag with its 18-55mm kit lens attached. However if you have a larger lens with a longer zoom range you would have to remove it and stow it next to the camera. But if you're using a smaller lens like I am there is room for the camera with the lens attached and either another lens or whatever else you need to carry with you. I carry all the other small components I need in the bag, battery, cables, small notebook etc. Also well padded and sturdy.

Comments about Lowepro Event Messenger 100 For DSLR (Mica):
Lots of room in an incredibly small size. Also seems very well made. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that it is difficult to open with 1 hand when it is clasped. Easy when only the velcro is used, but that isn't as secure. I recommend this highly.

We wanted a casual and not-very-big camera bag, so that we could have it with us any time without looking like professional photographers...
We only want to carry our Nikon D5100 with attached 18-55mm lens, but without any additional lens, flash, ...
This bag is perfect for that. You can put the camera, with still some additional room for a few more small items in the big compartment. In addition you have several little pockets, where you can but your wallet, phone, extra SD card, a small book, ...

Comments about Lowepro Event Messenger 100 For DSLR (Mica):
I chose this bag to hold my Sony Alpha NEX-C3, an interchangeable lens camera (approx. 4 inches by 3 inches by 1.5 inches), and its accompanying lenses - a zoom lens (approx. 3-4 inches tall, 2 inches in diameter), a macro lens (approx. 3-4 inches tall, 2 inches in diameter), and a pancake lens (approx. 1.5 inches tall, 2 inches in diameter). The main compartment is large enough for me also to slip my point-and-shoot camera, my wallet, and cell phone without any crowdedness. Without the above extra accessories, I can store another lens (approx. 3-4 inches tall, 2 inches in diameter), though the lens must be attached to the camera or stored very closely to it without any padding. The bag comes with 4 fully adjustable walls so that you can make your own compartments as needed. Additionally, there is a separate compartment in the front that holds an extra battery, a lenspen, an memory card, a small flash, and a hood. There are very thin pockets on both sides of the bag and on the back for holding very thin pamphlets, such as an owner's manual, or pens. The strap is easily adjusted for cinching the bag closer to your body and contains rubber underneath for a better grip.
I felt most pleasantly surprised by the bag's roominess, particularly with the adjustable walls in the main compartment. The bag is very sturdy and not easily tilted upside down, even when the front flap is open; at first, it seems precarious to carry the bag by the top handle while the flap is open because the bag naturally leans forward, but your equipment is secure. The bag feels weighty enough for me to drop my camera with a lens into the bag, close the flap, and continue rigorous activity before taking the next picture.
I am most disappointed by the thin side and back flaps. I could barely fit a pen in the side flaps, and the back flap is very tight when holding a 1/8-inch wide owner's manual and an index card. Also, the bag is available in only one color, which isn't bad, until you see the other Lowepro colors available for other styles.

Comments about Lowepro Event Messenger 100 For DSLR (Mica):
I bought this bag to take my Olympus PEN with an extra lenses (the camera got scratched on the zipper of another brand bag taking it in and out). This bag is nicely made but unfortunately really not big enough and the next model up is too big. Also found that the flap was a bit restrictive as it only lifted 180 degrees .
