The ESC-EF Eyeshade for Select Canon Cameras from Vello is a replacement eyepiece for select Canon cameras that provides a large, oval eyecup for more comfortable viewing through the viewfinder. The large shape of the eyecup improves the image quality in the viewfinder by sealing out all extraneous light. It can rotate 360º to accommodate both the left and right eye and horizontal and vertical shooting positions. The eyecup extends from the viewfinder somewhat and works well for photographers who wear eyeglasses because it rests evenly on the eyeglass surface, blocking stray light and providing a clearer image. The soft yet durable rubber design is comfortable for those who do not wear eyeglasses and will not scratch or damage the glasses of those who do. It mounts easily and securely to the camera's viewfinder.

I use the Eyeshade with the Eyepiece Extender to cut the glare and provide some nose space. Works great.

Comments about Vello ESC-EF Eyeshade for Select Canon Cameras:
I purchased this eyepiece hoping to achieve a couple of things:
1) leave fewer cheek and nose prints on my camera screen while shooting and
2) get a more consistent view through the viewfinder.
For the most part, I guess I got what I wanted, but the eyepiece doesn't seem to lock into place on my T1i and so tends to slide out occasionally. Additionally, the increased distance between the eye and viewfinder makes seeing the edges of the frame a bit more difficult, and so it's a little easier for intrusions to sneak into your composition--perhaps not really a flaw of the product but something to bear in mind. The size of the cup also blocks the sensor on the T1i so the screen doesn't turn off when one looks through the viewfinder--but other than eating a little more battery it shouldn't make much difference operationally, as the eye cup blocks the screen light from entering the viewfinder anyway. The eye cup can be rotated, but actually turning it is more of a struggle than it probably should be. The eye cup is fairly comfortable at least, and does help me keep my screen free of nose prints and breath fog.
If on a budget, it'll probably do, but there might be better options worth looking at first.

Hopes were high but I almost lost it twice so far.
Falls off very very easy. Bought it for a Canon t3i.
Now it has already found a place in the bottom of the bag. Viewfinder cannot be opened without lifting up on the eye piece. Let this one go by.

Comments about Vello ESC-EF Eyeshade for Select Canon Cameras:
Not just for Canon!I have a Sony A77V that I love. I was upset that I could not find an eye shade for it to keep out the overhead light requiring me to put one hand over to block it. I ordered a bunch of possible ones, thinking I would have to make my own. This Vello eye cup fit perfectly! It fits high enough as not to block out the light sensor that controls the veiwfinder LCD, but low enough to have a complete view. Moreover, I can still pull out and relpace the large LCD screen without removing the eye cup. I hope Vello gets this message and will list it for the Sony A77 and others that it may fit.
