Comments about Mackie DL1608 iPad-Controlled 16-Channel Digital Live Sound Mixer:

use for live sound signal distribution. very good metering and lots of potential for software upgrades. would like to see stereo channel linking and copy channels. can't use in direct sunlight, gets very hot and ipad goes into overheat mode, had to send back for bad ipad connection but Mackie has great customer service. input gain control dont not "line up" with input fader which forces you to look before adjust. overall cool mixer...

Comments about Mackie DL1608 iPad-Controlled 16-Channel Digital Live Sound Mixer:

Well, I used this mixer for a band the day after I bought it (having played around with the ipad software earlier and having watched several webcasts of the features). It was pretty impressive. I play in the band and mix at the same time, so the mixer is typically set up at the back of the stage. It was quite nice to be able to walk out front for a sound check and start tweaking individual channel eqs from the front of the house. Similarly, it was REALLY nice to be able to send individualized mixes to each of the 5 monitors on stage, and ring each one out with its own eq. Very intuitive controls. Very good presets. At the start of the night, I made a "snapshot" of the board, then at the end of the night I did the same. Same band, same venue, presets all right there as a reasonable starting point. Overall very pleased so far. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I think the software can use a few additions (even though it is excellent). For example, there should be an undo button on the screen so that you can undo an accidental change from a misplaced finger without having to hunt for what you just might have changed. There are a few other details about sizing of buttons and so on, but we were told by several people it's the best we ever sounded.

Comments about Mackie DL1608 iPad-Controlled 16-Channel Digital Live Sound Mixer:

My first impression was not so good, since I had to contact Mackie to fix a firmware update problem (had to do a force firmware update, pushing the little button next to the power plug while turning on the mixer).
For it's price and size, I found it to be the perfect solution for my needs, sound reinforcement for a capella groups. The Master Fader app is easy to use and Mackie is working on new features, which is really good news.

Comments about Mackie DL1608 iPad-Controlled 16-Channel Digital Live Sound Mixer:

Although this product has issues in need of improvement, I would recommend this product to anyone!Currently, I use an iPad 4th generation. I did not find out that my iPad was not compatible with the DL1608, until after I had purchased the mixer. Mackie and all dealers should make this clear to all consumers before the purchase of this unit. Although… knowing what I know, now, about how awesome this product really is, etc, this issue would not have prevented me from making my decision to buy it. It really is that good, with many great features and advantages over analog methodology, especially superior quality audio. There is a temporary fix, as per Mackie…30 Pin To Lightning Docking Adaptor…As a lifelong Musician and audio professional, who's spent endless hours playing gig after gig and producing stages, I find it hard to believe that Mackie has built this mixer without the ability to externally (Via footswitch) turn effects (Reverb, Delay) On or OFF. In the current version, effects can only be set to ON or OFF via the iPad. Being this mixer is designed for live application, with the idea that bands can control their sound, on stage, without having to have a "sound man" this was clearly an oversight by Mackie. I'm sure that you will see this feature in the next version of this product. Just in case: Dear Mackie, While we all are performing live, talking to an audience through effects is a BIG NO NO. Therefore, we are forced to turn the effects ON and OFF, many times, during a live performance. The distraction of having to visually touch our iPads before talking to our audiences and then again to play the next segments or song, etc, is annoying to the performer and visually detouring to our audiences. Please address this issue in your next generation of this product. Thank you!All considered, this little mixer delivers and has many more PROS than CONS!

Comments about Mackie DL1608 iPad-Controlled 16-Channel Digital Live Sound Mixer:

The unit does not work with the latest iPad with the new interface. Reading very closely the manufacturer states that they are working on it, however, when they highly recommend the newest iPad to use with the product they may want to be just as obvious in stating that it does not have a connector yet. The unit can be used wirelessly but that involves more equipment and setup. Now we are stuck with a brand new iPad when an older unit would have been better. Other than the iPAD issue the unit is very useable and is worth buying.
