The Sony DSC-TX200V Digital Camera is a waterproof, dustproof 18.2Mp point-and-shoot that's both rugged and high-performing. Not afraid of the elements, the TX200V is great for outdoor and indoor adventures alike. At the same time, this high-resolution camera provides excellent image quality and 1080/60p video capture.

Features like a 3.0" touchscreen LCD, 5x optical and 10x clear image zoom, and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization help you make great memories into detailed, beautiful stills and movies. Other features like Hi-Speed AF (autofocus) allow you to capture even fast moving subjects with ease. Additional auto modes take the guesswork out of shooting, while creative modes let you put an artistic spin on your images, in-camera.

The TX200V also sports a built-in flash for capturing even in low-light situations. The "Natural Flash" mode creates lifelike images that utilize a reference shot to correct color in the final photo. Other modes that enhance your photos include the Anti-blink function, Soft Skin mode, and Intelligent Scene Recognition, among others.

18.2Mp Exmor R CMOS Sensor
The 18.2Mp Exmor R CMOS sensor captures ultra-high definition images that take full advantage of the camera's sharp Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. The sensor enables advanced processing that reduces noise levels up to 6 time more than other sensors, resulting in stunning low light images with incredible details
Waterproof and Dustproof
The sleek and stylish camera fits the slimmest pocket or purse. Thanks to its airtight construction, it is dustproof as well as waterproof to a depth of 16 feet
Slim Glass Design Plus a 3.0" LCD
This camera features a sleek, polished glass camera front without protruding lenses or control buttons, making it one of the thinnest cameras in its class, and adding to its water-and dust-proof design. The 5x optical zoom extends internally, and scenes can be composed or played back on the camera's 3.0" LCD monitor
Hi-Speed AF
To improve focusing speed and sensitivity, the Exmor R CMOS sensor uses its rapid 240fpsthroughput to deliver high-quality image signals to the camera's BIONZ processor. The result is fast, DSLR-like focusing speeds, even in low light
Full HD 1080/60p
Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capabilities for 60p in 1080. This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV. With dual record of stills and movies, you can shoot both at the same time
Optical Zoom Plus Clear Image Zoom
Most digital zooms use electronic cropping to get closer to the subject, resulting in unsharp images. With Clear Image Zoom the powerful processor compares patterns found in adjacent pixels and creates new pixels to match selected patterns, resulting in more realistic, higher-quality images. Clear Image Zoom doubles optical zoom for closer photos
Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode
Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode for blur-free movies even while walking. Camera-shake compensation using Optical SteadyShot/Active Mode has been improved with the addition of new electronic image stabilization. Now it's easier than ever to obtain sharp, blur-free movies even when zooming in unsteady situations, such as shooting with one hand while walking
Picture Effect for More Expressive Photos
Picture Effect adds a new level of expression to photos, making ordinary landscapes and portraits come to life by heightening mood and emphasizing certain attributes. Select camera models have up to nine different effects
Photo Creativity
Photo Creativity allows you to fine-tune your exposure settings, such as brightness, color, and vividness, and quickly choose the right enhancement for your subject. Now you can view Picture Effects and Photo Creativity effects in real time on the camera's monitor or in the viewfinder before shooting
Background Defocus
DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on the subject. Now our point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit. The system takes two shots, identifies the background and applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear
Superior Auto Mode
Get cleaner, more dynamic pictures and fewer missed shots. The camera automatically recognizes the correct scene mode, then quickly shoots and combines up to six shots to produce images with greater clarity, optimum dynamic range using Backlight Correction HDR technology and lower image noise using 6 shots layering technology. Superior Auto intelligently detects 33 scenes for still images and movies, making it easy to get the best shot
Face Detection Technology
Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends
Smile Shutter Technology
Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply select Smile Shutter and the camera does the rest. You can also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter mode when the Intelligent Auto mode is on. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting
Anti-Blink Function
It's frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. The Anti-blink function works to help counter blinking and squinting. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot
Soft Skin Mode
Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot
Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode
Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects 36 different types of scenes and, within just 1/30th of a second, selects the appropriate camera settings. iSCN has two modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advanced Mode, the camera takes a photo with the optimal settings and, if in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with another optimized setting so you can choose which to keep
Natural Flash
Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash mode takes a reference shot without flash and then uses that reference to correct the color, for far more lifelike images
Motion Detection
Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces
AF Modes
Multi Point AF / Center Weighted AF / Spot AF / Flexible Spot AF / Tracking Focus/ Face Tracking Focus / Flexible Spot AF(Tracking Focus) / Flexible Spot AF(FaceTracking Focus)

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V Digital Camera (Red):

I work in a ceramics studio. I use the camera for daily documentation. It takes great pictures in many types of situtions. The camera does an amazing job of keeping clay, dust and water out. There are no moving parts to get gunked up.The battery is the only issue I have ever had and that is not an issue. Because I bought extras.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V Digital Camera (Silver):

I use the camera as a shirt poket back up, so size matters. I've used a T70 for years and was impressed with how it weathered the knocks of travel (often by bicycle) but this TX200V is amazing. Sony has packed a huge array of features (including a 180 degree panoramic mode) into a slim and rugged package. I only wish they could have made it with a bigger lens so that we could have f 1.8 or f 2. for better low light work. Overall, though, it's a gem.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V Digital Camera (Red):

I am a semi pro photographer and I was looking for a compact camera to use in a family context. I chose the Sony TX200V. It allows me to always have on me. light and compact it has a good sensor and a faster shutter speed release. It has many settings that allow automated capture all situations. It also has a program mode that allows you to create pictures in manual mode simplified. Video quality is good M2TS 60. I also like this camera because it is waterproof to 5m, its resistance to shocks and dust. Ideal for holidays with children.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V Digital Camera (Red):

The technology in this camera is absolutely amazing. The photos I have taken are razor sharp and the colors spectacular, whether shot macro, optical zoom or digital zoom- yes digital zoom is great as well. I especially appreciate the scene choices and modes. I bought this instead of an a99 not for the cost differential, but I wanted a camera I could take with me anytime, anywhere and I felt this would take the quality of photos I intended. It has and as a bonus it takes great movies. When shot in FH or HQ, I have imported the movies into iMovie without a problem. I can't imagine any fixed lens camera at any price taking better pictures.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V Digital Camera (Violet):

I already had a Sony TX10, similar to the TX20, and happy with it. My wife wanted it so I bought this one for my outdoor activities, mostly kayaking whitewater. I use it in the image burst mode a lot and even use it as a head cam, using a modified Go PRO mount. It is not that much different in practical use than the TX20, but with a little more zoom and a little more pixels, 18 vs 16.2mp for the TX20, but practically, you will not see much difference. It has a few more neat digital functions. One good thing in one way is that it has fewer moving parts, without the sliding lens cover that would get sand and dirt under it, but then the TX20 will probably get less gunk and scratches on the lens with that lens cover. I like that it is a tiny bit smaller and lighter.I don't like the digital touch screen for starting and stopping movies. The TX20 has a manual button for movies that you can feel without looking. I don't like that I am going to have to be very careful to not scratch that nice glass front, where it covers the lens.Note that I never use this camera without the wrist strap on or teathered to my life jacket or helmet straps. It is going to be easy to drop. It ended up costing 100 more than the TX20, maybe worth it for me, but maybe not if you have to pinch pennys.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V Digital Camera (Red):

I bought this camera because it is waterproof and thought it would be good to take on a rafting trip. It has a touch screen which I hoped would be easy to access controls. The downsides: 1. I bought two extra batteries, but that wasn't enough because it used an entire battery each day, so I was without a camera for 2 days of my trip since I had no electricity to charge a battery. 2. The lens is located in the top left corner and I had to be very careful to not let my finger get in front of the lens. 3. While walking, the touch screen would change the settings, so I either had the wrong setting when I took the next photo or I had to turn the camera off and on repeatedly because it didn't have the feature where you touch the shutter button and it comes back on. 4. The video, although 1080HD, is in Quicktime format which does not upload to iphoto and imovie if you have a MAC, which I do. 5. I simply could not see the screen at all in sunlight. 6. There is no time exposure feature or manual operation for creative night photos. 7. The external finish on the camera scratches easily. I certainly hope that B & H Photo will let me exchange this camera. 8. Some macro shots were not in focus.
