The Black Cyber-shot DSC-WX50 Digital Camera from Sony is a straight-forward point-and-shoot with 16.2 megapixels packed into an Exmor R CMOS sensor. That means, even though it's a compact camera, you can shoot detailed photos that look great big or small - even on your HDTV or blown up to a poster-size print. Additionally, the WX50 shoots 1080i video, giving you the ability to take full advantage of social media sites with your movies.
Along with features like iSCN - which detects 33 scene conditions and automatically adjust camera settings for you - the WX50 also puts a number of creative and advanced capture options at your fingertips. From the ease of using the Intelligent Sweep Panorama feature for one shot landscapes to the Background Defocus function for a look more frequently associated with DSLR capture, this camera has an extensive menu of useful capabilities. Other such features include Anti-blink, Soft Skin mode, Sweep Multi Angle, and then some.
Of course, you can't get great shots without the right tools. The WX50 has a 2.7" Clear Photo LCD for composition, review, and menu navigation. A Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with 5x optical zoom - and 10x Clear Image Zoom - gives you the ability to zoom in close or go out wide for great shots from groups and landscapes to interiors. Sony's SteadyShot image stabilization keeps images blur-free, even when the camera is hand-held, and the built-in flash gives you great stills when shooting in low-light. SD/SDHC/SDXC and Memory Stick Duo media all can be used with the camera for convenient file storage.

This camera matches my previous one (Sony DSC-WX9) almost neck-and-neck in every feature, and costed a lot less. I really don't notice any difference. It's amazing for a point-and-shoot camera, and I have two magnetic lenses (a macro 0.45x and a fish-eye 0.38x) with the little stick-on magnetic rings, allowing for a much wider range of imagery and focus options.
The screen is also very responsive, especially when recording video; no screen lag. Great screen quality, too. It doesn't have an old-school viewfinder, if you care about that (I don't). It has the same limited zoom of any point-and-shoot camera, easily remedied with a stick-on telephoto lens. Camera is very compact for such high quality. Loving it so far.

I bought this camera for my cousin for his birthday. The size of the camera is perfect fit in your hands, but the screen is very small. The OS in the camera makes the camera seems fairly cheap. If you had ever had any type of Cybershot, you will see the big difference between this one and the one you have had prior.
The 3D features are awesome, though you have to have a 3D computer or TV in order to play it properly. You cannot display 3D on the camera, so realistically, it's kind of pointless. The quality is alright, basic camera functions. Other than that, I would recommend this camera.
It's about a 3 1/2 out of 5.

This product takes the best pictures in low light, it's easy to use, and it's very light and compact so carrying it around is no trouble at all. It's also the best price for what you're getting. It does have a short battery life, but if you get an extra battery and keep it with you it's no problem.

I got this camera on sale for 99$. With the extra battery and 16 GB simcard, plus extra warranty it was almost 200$ I love the camera it is excellent at night time. The pictures come out bright in low light. And you might not even have to use the flash. There is a 3D feature. I have not used yet. I also takes continues shots which I like. to catch a action shot.

In my line of business, I take a lot of pictures. Anywhere from 120 to 900+ per day. This camera gets a lot of pics per battery charge. The picture quality is top notch. Also buying from B+H assures that I am getting new, where as purchasing a product advertised as "new" from those online auction sites is not guaranteed. B+H also had the best price period! Absolutely the best digital camera I have owned.

My wife and I are expecting our first child soon, and she realized that she wanted our first photos of him to be higher-than-iPhone quality. I'm not a pro by any means, but my father is a photographer, and I picked up enough knowledge from him to know what I was looking for. After comparing eight different models of camera in our price range , I settled on the DSC-WX50.This camera does not disappoint. The pictures are beautiful for a point-and-shoot. The automatic settings are intelligent enough that I can just hand the camera off to anyone and expect good quality pictures. 16.2 megapixels speaks for itself as far as resolution. HD video is great, and I was surprised to find that the microphone for recording video was decent for the price range as well.I definitely recommend this camera. You can't get much better for this price.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-WX50 Digital Camera (Silver):
The overall image quality of this camera is pretty good, it produces sharp pictures and good color for it's small size and it's price tag. However, if you plan on using it in low-light situations without a flash then expect to get TONS of noise in the image (a typical Sony drawback in ALL of their cameras I tried out). Don't get sold on the 2.6 aperture because in a low light situation where you don't want to use a flash or tripod (who uses a tripod with a point and shoot?)you still need at least an ISO of 800 and there it's starts getting noisy.
Also the processing time after a picture is taken sometimes takes too long.
I didn't return this camera, because in most instances it works well for what I puchased it for; a small camera I can can place in my pocket to have around whenever I want to take snapshots of my family.

I love this camera, because it has a lot of features that professional cameras have but for a very low price. It's fun to use and i love the watercolor mode and the color- popping mode. I also like that i can do some post-processing adjustment after i have taken a picture.

While in New York City, I was looking to buy an inexpensive point-and-shoot camera that I could use during WrestleMania in New Jersey. I was looking at spending under [$] and ultimately settled on this camera for it's wide-angle lens. I took the camera back to my hotel room and it took me a few minutes to get comfortable with all of the settings and features, mind you I am a semi-pro photographer and typically use expensive DSLR cameras. Setup was easy as pie and learning to operate the camera took a few minutes, but I was off and runnng. New camera users will not experience much of an issue with operating the camera. It's super easy to use and offers many features that aren't available in some of it's more expensive counterparts, such as a panorama setting and manual exposure controls. It is the best point-and-shoot that I've ever owned. I would definitely recommend this camera for anyone that wants to take some vacation photos, etc... A great camera!

This camera is by far the fastest that I've owned. The pseudo-HDR is pretty grea, too. Image quality seems good so far.
Super tiny camera. I actually wish it was a little larger to be comfortable.
It's not intuitive to figure out how to manually adjust exposure.

Very compact, almost too small if you have fat fingers, but very convenient to carry around. Produces excellent results for a small point an shoot. Colors are good. Video is excellent. Purchased for my wife and despite the fact that she is intimidated by technology she has found it easy to use. Built in guide is convenient if incomplete and sometimes confusing. Controls are reasonably intuitive and simple. Special features like Macro and Panorama work well.
