The Fujifilm FinePix JX500 Digital Camera (Red) is a sleek and slim, yet highly powerful camera featuring a 14MP sensor and 5x zoom lens. The 26-130mm (35mm equivalent) lens allows you to capture a wide breadth of scenes from group photos to closely cropped portraits. This is further aided by a highly sensitive 3200 ISO rating and digital image stabilization for greater control and sharper results when shooting in low light conditions. For further ease in producing excellent results, you can employ several scene recognition modes-Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Night Portrait, and Backlit Portrait-for automatically selecting the appropriate camera settings based on the conditions. Face Detection, Blink Detection, and Smile & Shoot modes are also available to ensure your portraits and group photos turn out as expected and in the most flattering light. In addition to still photos, this camera is also capable of capturing full HD 720p video.
You can view your results on the rear 2.7" LCD after recording your files to an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card. If you'd like to expedite the process of sharing your photos on Facebook or YouTube, you can begin tagging and selecting the photos you'd like to upload directly in the camera. Once you plug the camera into your computer, the entire uploading process is automatic and reflects your selections and edits made in camera.
- 14 Megapixel CCD Sensor
- The 14 megapixel resolution and a 1/2.3" CCD sensor help you capture the finest details of your subject matter and portray them in vivid color, both for the computer and when printed.
- Fujinon 5x Zoom Lens
- The 26-130mm (35mm equivalent) lens gives you a broad spectrum of focal lengths, providing you with an ideal angle for almost any situation. The 5x optical zoom offers sharp results across the entire range, for equal performance when shooting close-up portraits and wide-field landscapes.
- 3200 ISO Sensitivity
- A maximum sensitivity of 3200 ISO allows you to photograph in low light situations with significantly greater ease. In addition to limited light performance, a high ISO will also allow you to use high shutter speeds when photographing moving subjects at high speeds.
- Digital Image Stabilization
- Working in conjunction with the high sensitivity, the digital image stabilization provides greater results when working in dark conditions where longer shutter speeds are more common. The stabilization function automatically detects blurred photos and helps to boost the shutter speed in order to produce the sharpest results possible.
- HDTV Compatible
- After recording movies in full HD 720p, you are able to watch them in perfect resolution on an HD image display. Movie recording is further simplified with the integration of a one-touch recording button on the rear of the camera for instant access to shoot movies. In addition to movies, still images can also be recorded in 720p format, 120 x 720px, for proper display on your HD screen.
- Scene Recognition Modes
- After automatically detecting your framed scene, the camera is able to select the appropriate camera settings to help you best render your scenes for the most vivid and accurate portrayal. Automatically determined scenes include: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Night Portrait, and Backlit Portrait modes.
- Face and Blink Detection
- Face Detection helps to optimize your portraits by detecting faces within the frame and adjusting exposure and focus to best render your subject. Blink Detection continues to help improve your people pictures by warning you when people in the frame are blinking, giving you the option to retake the photo or more closely inspect the image before moving on to the next shot.
- Smile & Shoot Mode
- As another step towards creating the best photographs possible of people, Smile & Shoot mode will automatically release the shutter when the smile appears in the frame. This helps to take the guess work out of capturing the right moment and provides you with the confidence that you'll be getting the best images possible.
- Motion Panorama
- When the standard aspect ratio is not enough to capture the wide field image desired, you can automatically stitch together 3 consecutive images with in-frame guides for a dramatically wide-angle view.
- Tracking Auto Focus
- Tracking Auto Focus helps to anticipate the focus of moving subjects and keeps them in focus while panning or following your subject from a distance. This setting is ideal for use when photographing sports events or other situations when viewing from a distance.
- Natural Light & with Flash
- If you're having trouble deciding whether or not to use a flash for a given situation, this mode will automatically record both photos; first without flash, then with Intelligent Flash. Both images are saved to your memory card for looking over later.
- Simple Point and Shoot Modes
- Over 20 different pre-programmed shooting modes help to ensure that you will always produce the best results possible in the widest variety of situations.
- Easy Upload and Sharing
- Helping to expedite the process of sharing your photos on Facebook or YouTube, you can begin tagging and selecting the photos you'd like to upload directly in the camera. The next time you plug the camera into your computer; the entire uploading process is automatic and reflects your selections and edits made in camera.
- Photobook Assist
- In addition to sorting and tagging your images for sharing online, you can also create and edit your images in camera for creating a photobook at a later time. By creating albums on the fly, you can remember specific details and instances and note them for later. Photobooks can be ordered online once your new images have been synced to your computer.
- Image Search
- The image search feature helps you to find specific images by searching by date, face, scene, type, data, and favorite ranks. This tool is especially useful during trips away from home when you don't have the opportunity to back up your imagery as often as possible.

- The large, bright display offers a 230,000-dot resolution for optimum viewing of your photos and movies directly on the camera.

This camera is an ideal pocket camera. It's small, unobtrusive, yet takes good snapshots. At 14 MP, it may not be the best camera for truly intensive photo bugs, but for routine stuff and pics to be attached to web sites or sent through email, it's great.
This camera has all sorts of settings that take into account bright sunlight (beach) to nighttime (with tripod) shots without fooling around too much with ISO settings and the like.
The price was unbeatable.

This camera was very light weight and compact. Great zoom for it's price range. Very sharp images, Great indoor images. I didn't know that it do not come with a memory card, so be sure to purchase one. I love the color, and the button layout makes for easy shooting. Looking forward to purchasing other Fuji products in the future.
