Great Camera for the Jr. High art room
I purchased the camera for use with Jr. High art classes. It is wonderful, so durable I don't really worry about the kids damaging it.

okay camera but not great
Fun camera b/c can use in water but picture quality overall not great. Also, battery slot allows the battery to be put in upside down.

Comments about FinePix XP50 Digital Camera (Black):
The Fugi Fine-Pix XP50 is an excellent Waterproof Camera, however it does not have the availability for and AC adaptor, for previewing and modifying photos. I was able to find an Olympus Waterproof Digital camera (TG-620/820) that does come with an AC adaptor, and is very comparable to the Fugi XP-50.

Comments about FinePix XP50 Digital Camera (Green):
It is a decent camera if one takes into account that it belongs to point-and-shoot category. Slow speed on shutter release as any in class. Small and compact size turns around at you when you try hold it firmly whithout blocking flash. Low light performance standard for the class. Overall I would recommend it as second camera that is "always with you".

So far this has been a great purchase. Takes a great picture and great hd videos. Haven't had a chance to get it underwater yet, but hopefully it will work as advertised. For the price you can't go wrong.

Comments about FinePix XP50 Digital Camera (Orange):
You should not expect artistic pictures. Focus is a problem in corners area, there is a shutter lag and low light performance is poor. However you don't buy this camera to make artistic pictures. You buy it to take it on a bike trip where it can be easily dropped, to take underwater shots, or to drop it in a snow while skiing. Keep battery door clean of sand. It is poorly designed and water can penetrate easily if sand gets under the rubber...

Comments about FinePix XP50 Digital Camera (Green):
I've bought this camera for my young daughter, as she was showing interest in photography. I liked the fact she can take it underwater, use it in any weather, and even drop it without breaking it. The camera is very basic with easy controls. One touch button turns it into a video camera.
Picture quality is okay, the camera is small and my daughter loves it.
My biggest problem is the terrible shutter lag. And I mean TERRIBLE. Forget about capturing "The decisive moment". By the time this camera snaps the photo, your subject will be somewhere else, out of the picture even. It is a source of frustration that somewhat defeats the purpose of photography.

Comments about FinePix XP50 Digital Camera (Orange):
This is my second Fuji waterproof camera, and happily it uses the same battery as my first one. I use it mainly for underwater shots while snorkeling in the Caribbean, and I'm so happy with the quality of photos I get.
It's easy to use, fast shutter with barely any lag, great stabilizing and beautiful color, even when using lower resolution than the 14 megapixels it offers. Underwater movies are even more amazing.
My only complaint is that the battery is difficult to seat properly, and it can be put in in reverse. However when you get it in there corrctly, the double latch on the battery door is definitely a plus. I would caution anyone to not change the battery or card while still on the beach or in the boat after using it underwater -- you WILL get water in there. If your card is full or the battery is dead in the middle of your underwater photography excursion, call it a day and don't attempt to change either until much later when everything is very dry.
Great little camera for a great price.
