The iU2 by Tascam is a pocket-sized, ultra-lightweight (7.76 oz) audio/MIDI interface for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Not only is it compatible with most any iOS device, it also works with both Mac and Windows computers. It provides zero-latency monitoring allowing you to simultaneously hear yourself and record without delay. It also comes equipped with MIDI in and out for synths, drum machines and other MIDI devices plus a digital output for connection with digital mixers or recorders.
The iU2 features two 1/4" microphone inputs and includes a 1/4" to XLR adapter for connection with most any phantom powered condenser microphones. The inputs also accept line-level signals for guitar and bass recording. Both inputs are amplified with a built-in preamp and pass through an onboard analog to digital converter for enhanced sound with low noise, delivering true stereo recording.| Inputs |

Comments about Tascam iU2 Audio/MIDI Interface:
I tested this interface on my IPhone and my iPad plus my MacBook Pro and it worked right out of the box. I used to phantom powered matched mics on a stereo recording and used the head phone for monitoring. The quality of the A/D converters is very good. I have a full recording studio with a 48 channel full digital mixer and a video editing studio with many other interfaces and this just adds a quick record function to my Ipad and iPhone for real.

Comments about Tascam iU2 Audio/MIDI Interface:
Great audio/midi interface for iOS and Windows. I like the cable options that are included; two xlr to 1/4", midi, and built in iOS connector. Nice io's for digital out, line out R&L, USB power, MIDI in/out, dedicated guitar input, along woth the headphone out and satndare 1/4" L&R ins. Works for everything I throw it at, XP, 7, iPad (new latest), and Mac Book. Nice to have input control with an indicator as to achive a good clean hot level x 2! Fantom power is nice. A little glitchy with certain apps when using an iPad, typically when launching an app, or switching between them, though I'm sure that will change as updates follow.
