Sure, 3TB is nice, but what really attracted me to this hard drive is that it is colored "Caviar Green." I am a classy guy, and I need colors that remind me of my oppulent lifestyle. No forest green, or neon green, or even olive green. Only caviar will do.

Used this drive to upgrade my Apple Time Capsule. Took about 10 minutes to swap the drive and get Time Capsule up and running. Very easy upgrade... and the drive is working great as promised. Also, the drive is much more quiet than the original.
Delivery was on time and the price was very reasonable.

Lots of storage for a good price. Cannot say much about reliability yet (only had it for two weeks), but so far so good. Previous generations of Caviar Green drives have always served me well.
A few things to consider before buying, but none of them are problems with the drive itself:
First, 3TB is "only" 2.7 TiB, so don't be confused if that's the size your OS reports.
More importantly, almost all external USB enclosures still seem to have trouble handling drives this large; mine showed it as 750GB disk. Using it as an internal drive, I get the full expected capacity. This is NOT a problem with the drive, but with the USB/SATA chipset. Hopefully there will be some in the future that work.
So as an internal disk this is great, but be aware that you may not be able to use it in an external enclosure.

I bought this disk to replace couple of 650GB old disks in my DNS-323. It took me a while to make it work at full capacity with ALT-F firmware but it all works just fine now. I have a few other Caviar Green disks that work just fine, I hope this one will be no exception.

This is my 4th drive in my pc. My main drive is a 250GB SSD. I have 3 western digital HDD for photo and video storage. I was concerned about the Green Caviar being too slow and was contemplating a 2TB Black caviar drive. Glad I did not go that route. This 3TB green, at 6.0 gbs, hooked into a 6.0 gbs port on my mobo is much faster than my 1TB black caviar 3.0 gbs drive. I was happy with the speed of that 1TB black caviar and so this green drive surprised me. Granted, a 6.0 gbs black caviar drive would likely be faster than the green caviar, but this drive does not host my OS nor editing programs, so I am more than happy with its performance. Plus, it does not generate a lot of heat and I can't hear it. My Asus temp monitors did not really change after installing this drive. Overall, I am very happy with the speed and the storage space of this drive. As a side note, I had zero (nada) issues with the 2.2 TB limitation - I see the full capacity of this drive in Windows (7, 64-bit). I did update my Asus chipset and BIOS, and installed the Asus utility for drives >2TB. Flawless.

I use this drive in a RAID array for long-term backup storage. It's the biggest drive available right now that works for my system. Unfortunately, due to the floods in Thailand last year, all hard drives are more expensive than usual. This drive is no exception. If it were a bit cheaper then I'd give it 5 stars. Other than price, it's great. No crashes yet.

I am using those drives ganged as a raid 5 san, I have disable the parking or idle time, and so far not bad. I amcrossing myfingers, I just found many complain about those green drives in raid san.
Any how, they are quite, cheap, cool, large size, and cheap despite of the flood in thailand

I searched and agonized over the process of upgrading my iMac 2007's original 250 GB hard drive to a large, 3 TB drive. In some places, I read that this WD drive "was never intended to be a boot drive", but in other places this drive was recommended. I decided to go for it, and it has worked out great. The drive has good speed and the 3TB size is awesome! I notice no change in performance as compared to the original drive that came in my iMac. ifixit.com has great step by step guides for installing in an iMac.
