I've been only a Nikon user for over 30 yrs! I can't say enough about the gear I've used in the past. I have had a great digital SLR Nikon. Also had a Coolpix L something for 5 yrs - It was great too but now I decided it was time for an update on another small lightweight camera with more power! I chose the S6300 because of the features it offers. I love this camera! So lightweight and the zoom is spectacular for it's size and the quality looks awesome! I even took photos of the local fireworks display on the 4th and my pictures were just the best I've done in so many years! They were clear and sharp even though I wasn't that close to them. I have been very satisfied and happy with my decision to buy this model. BTW, I won't ever use any other type of camera except NIKON!

Good for still photos, but not action.
In the future I'll avoid a camera with a CMOS sensor and go with CCD.

Comments about Coolpix S6300 Digital Camera (Red):
I really like the fact that this tiny little camera takes very good pictures and has lots of options available. I especially liked the panoramic scene selection. The scene selections are a starting point. From there, you can modify things like white balance or flash. It's a very user-friendly camera. The only possible complaint I can come up with is that it is a little slow to "rebound" after taking the pictures, even if I half-depress the button.

I typically use a DSLR but wanted something I could keep in my pocket for those times I don't want to lug around the big cam. Since my DSLR is a Canon, I asked for a Canon S6300 for Christmas. It was pretty bad and I wondered if I was just comparing it to my DSLR. I did some research and found this Nikon was equivalent in price so I ordered it. The first shot on this Nikon confirmed my thoughts about the Canon S6300. This Nikon is not bad, and for the price it's great. No, it does not rival my DSLR by a long shot, but I don't need it to. I needed something that would fit in my pocket and take a better shot than my cell phone and this fits the bill.

It's a great camera for taking pictures at a party or an event, Such as, a wedding, birthday party or similar! Takes very nice pictures and has a nice LCD screen. The only problem I had with the camera was, when I was trying to take one picture after another, it was very slow to take the next picture.

Comments about Coolpix S6300 Digital Camera (Red):
The camera has all the features you could ever want. What is great about it is that it will select the best modes for focus and exposure for you or they can be set to be in-effect while you shoot for a specific time. Mostly, I like the sharp lens which give the perfect detail that I like. The HD video is great - honestly, its like having a video camera as well as a still camera. The focus when zoomed in hunts for the best setting - goes back and forth a bit which is especially annoying in movies however if the camera is in fully "unzoomed" or wide-angle position there is none of this and focus is fast. When in movie mode, the noise of the lens zooming in is picked up by the mic so it is best to leave the lens at one focal length whil filming - pretty easily done. All and all a great little camera and I am very happy.

OK. I'm weird-I prefer film. I still take transparencies, but this little fellow is going to accompany me on all my travels. The ease of use is spectacular. The screen is bright in all but the sun soaked of situation. The ability to change exposure settings and see the effect on the view screen makes this as versatile a rig as my SLR.OK. It's still a compact "camera" but, for one sixth the price of an advanced digital SLR body it does a darn good job. The package included rechargeable battery, charger, connecting cord, wrist strap, etc. The only thing left to buy was a micro-SD card and a small case. I put a 16 Gig card in the camera and that should hold just about anyone who ever stops taking pictures long enough to raise their heads.Excellent unit, fantastic price. Highly recommended.
