The PowerShot A3400 IS Touch Screen Digital Camera (Gold) from Canon has a sleek design, complete with a large 3.0" touch screen LCD that helps you capture images with the tap of a finger. The A3400 IS has the 35mm equivalent of a 28 - 140mm lens with a 16 megapixel resolution CCD image sensor. It also employs advanced image stabilization technologies and techniques to ensure your HD videos aren't shaky and your photos aren't blurry. This allows you to capture clearer, truer images without unwanted blur or camera shake.
With its 16 megapixel image sensor this little camera is still able to capture poster-sized images at a maximum 4608 x 3456 resolution. This gives you the flexibility to enlarge or crop any section of your image for printing or sharing online. Digital Image Stabilization ensures those images are as sharp as possible and not blurred due to low lighting, holding the camera away from you, or aiming at a moving subject.
The PowerShot A3400 IS features touch screen technology that makes using the camera even easier and more enjoyable. Choose where you want to focus by pressing the screen and watching as an AF box appears. If you have a moving target the box will even track them around the frame. Simply release your finger and the shutter will release, capturing the image. You can also change camera settings, record and play videos and much, much more using the convenient touch screen capabilities of the A3400 IS.
The DIGIC 4 Image Processor powers all of the camera's advanced systems and features--ensuring you get fast, reliable performance with low battery consumption. With it, the camera can have its enhanced picture quality, alongside features like HD video, high-speed continuous shooting, and Face-Detection Self-Timer.
In addition to the speed of shooting, the Optical Image Stabilization and Intelligent IS work in combination to deliver sharper and clearer images to your camera and memory card. Using multiple types of image stabilization, the camera selects the best and most appropriate method to capture your photo or video without distracting camera shake.

The camera functions as it should. The picture is very clear and sharp in natural light. However it could use some improvment in low light settings. Photos are a bit grainy . Additionally, the touch screen feature which is highly convenient is sometimes unresponsive and slow. The shutter also lags a bit, so for subjects that move, make sure you have it on a speed setting to compensate for this. The wide angle, works well for the average landscape photographer who likes to capture those moments which happen in the blink of a eye, however not suitable for portraiture, as the wide angel distorts the features of the subject. If using to capture portrait shots, a solution to remedy this problem would be to capture your subjects from at least 3 feet away. However, the camera overall is very easy to use and picture quality is good, which is typical of a canon product. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to have a spare camera with them in their day to day activities. Or, for the beginer landscape photographer or painter who may want to capture that landscape or scene for further development.

The camera is light, very easy to use, and quality of pictures is excellent. Since the camera is a touch screen, it can become sensitive at times, and take pictures unexpectedly. This isn't too big a deal, as pictures can easily be erased.

Chose this canon because the touch screen was larger , and it has made all the difference in using it, and learning. I am 'older' and found it easy to take great pictures immediately just using the booklet. It is a dream to use ! I've been capturing my new cat in motion and it is such fun ! Honestly, I must explore the cd included with it . Am a sculptor and take a lot of macro images . Know there is more to learn, but in the mean time - easy is the word - and Canon images are the best ! So far nothing negative or needing improvement ...love taking it with me everywhere.

I purchased this originally for someone else, but ended up keeping this for myself. I bought this at the recommendation of a co-worker when I told them I was looking for something compact, versatile, reasonably price and had good overall quality. Boy, THIS did NOT disappoint! Initially, it appeared a bit intimidating considering the amount of features and the touch screen capability that I'm not use to. However, once I did some hands on, I got the hang of it in no time. GREAT picture quality, surprising for something in the $-$ range. I usually don't capture video, but this did a pretty good job of snagging a few practice sequences and surprisingly was pretty stable. Overall, I rate this a 5 out of 5. Great product, great quality at a great price. I highly recommend this.

This compact camera which you can place in your front pocket while traveling, is very easy to use and takes remarkably good pictures. The colors are vibrant and images come out sharp. The LCD screen is wide enough for viewing. I find using the LCD screen as a touch screen very user friendly. So far, it has'nt given us any problems. Glad I bought this camera.

I am teaching my daughter the basics of photography and needed a good camera for learning composition without lugging the DSLRs everywhere. The A3400 has a nice balance of features and accessibility without a ton of buttons. The touchscreen input (focus/live image adjustments) is very nice and does not get in the way of enjoying taking pictures The AS3400 fits nicely in the pocket, it loaded with features, and takes fantastic pictures. The images have decent color with respect to true life.

Takes decent pictures and video in a small size. Holds up well to other point and shoots with a better price than most. Touch screen and a button to do video recording are bonus features. Not a ton of manual adjustments can be done, but is not what most people would expect in a small size point and shoot camera.
