The PowerShot A1300 Digital Camera from Canon is a remarkably powerful and feature-rich camera packed into a small and easy-to-use package. Despite being less than 2.5" tall, the A1300 still shoots the 35mm equivalent of a 28 - 140mm lens with a 16 megapixel image resolution. This means you can capture the entire family in a group photo or zoom in on your child's smiling face from across the room.
With its 16 megapixel image sensor this little camera is still able to capture poster-sized images at a maximum 4608 x 3456 resolution. This gives you the flexibility to enlarge or crop any section of your image for printing or sharing online. Digital Image Stabilization ensures those images are as sharp as possible and not blurred due to low lighting, holding the camera away from you, or aiming at a moving subject.
The DIGIC 4 Image Processor powers all of the camera's advanced systems and features, ensuring you get fast, reliable performance with low battery consumption. With it, the A1300 can have its enhanced picture quality, alongside features like HD video, high-speed continuous shooting, and Face-Detection Self-Timer.
The A1300 doubles as a high definition camcorder that fits in your pocket with its 720p HD video resolution. Capture more than a snapshot of your memories by recording all of them in outstanding HD quality. With the video capabilities, as well as the dozens of photography features, the A1300 is a feature-packed camera that likely takes up same amount of space as your cell phone.

I bought this as a travel camera for my wife to use. I found that the image quality is BETTER than my Canon G10 so now I am using it myself! I deliberately chose this one because of 3 features: the optical viewfinder, the "Instant Movie" button, and the use of AA batteries so you can get them all over the world and no worries about rechargers. The 300 shot estimate is about right for alkaline batteries, I recommend the lithium for longer use. The HD video is not great but for [$] you really do get your money's worth - very highly recommended if this is all you can afford - you will love it. I am NOT getting paid to write this - I just think the camera rocks for under $120.

They say your best camera is the one you use the most; this camera fits that bill for me. The A1300 is intuitive, not too much of a battery hog, and takes very good pictures for a compact point and shoot. I selected this camera because of the viewfinder; we'll see this summer if that pays off.

Comments about PowerShot A1300 Digital Camera (Black):
I am outside most of the time and it is difficult in the sun to see the screen on the camera. I loved my old Canon because it had a view finder and found that I was using it way more than the Casio camera that was technically superior. Thing is the Canon can take better photos because in bright light you can use the view finder.
I like using AA batteries because other cameras do not provide sufficient indication of life before quitting. Climb a bell tower in Bordeau France and get ready for some great shots only to have the battery die on the second shot! With aa batteries in your pocket, you are good to go. Lesson learned.
Canon has eliminated some of the flash options that I liked and I do not know how the camera will do in auto mode.
The camera looks bigger in the photos than it is and the grip on the camera is really nice. It is a compact size and easy to carry and use.

This is a good choice for a compact pocket camera.I retired an almost new Kodak M575 due to the buttons being all grouped together, short battery life, and poor available light performance. This Canon A1300 cures all of my complaints, adds a viewfinder, and uses AA batteries.I first thought I was buying an older model because of these features, but it appears Canon is committed to building viewfinder camera's for those of us that want one.The ease of use because of the large, well spaced control buttons, and a great price point, are reason enough to buy an A1300,with the bonus being the really good images it takes. My only regret is not buying 2 while they were on sale. Discounted or not,for a good point and shoot to stash in your pocket or purse, you really can't go wrong! One word of caution, the battery/SD card access door is easily twisted, take it easy when closing it!!

I've owned many cameras over the years but this one is one of the most useful. The reason I bought this Canon is the view finder. It's hard sometimes during the day to see my subject on the rear screen. The view finder resolves this problem. I also like this cameras size. Some people mite not like the fact that the camera isn't rechargeable but I prefer the AA batteries. They're always available. I don't have to worry about having a dead battery. Most cameras take great pictures and this one does too, plus the price was great. This is a great addition to my camera collection and the one I think I will use the most except for my iPhone.

So far a great "pocket" camera to carry at all times. Controls are straightforward and pretty much intuitive. Picture quality is great for such a compact camera.
The zoom is easier to control compared to the previous A1100 Canon.
My wife loves the viewfinder (hard to find in a pocket camera), but the screen works well in bright light as well. We also like the fact that it uses AA batteries, available in any backwoods store/bar/post office.

Just after buying this camera, I took it with me on vacation. I took some test shots at home to see if it worked and left on the trip. I just used AUTO mode most of the time. This was a hiking trip with closeups and pictures of mountains. For an inexpensive little camera, it did a great job. Colors were great and it even provided depth of field in some photos.
The buttons are fairly intuitive and will become much easier when I have time to fully read the online manual. I would definitely recommend this camera to someone. Just bought a second one for my girlfriend.

There is no "action" setting so it is a bit hard to get non-blurry pictures of the kids (who never sit still). The flash takes a few seconds to re-charge so you can not take back to back pictures.
Great camera for the price. Fits in my pocket so I will use it all the time. Takes regular AA batteries. Easy to get pics off the computer (no special software needed).

Great camera for the money with many features and takes great pictures. I use it to take pictures for my work as an Insurance Adjuster. A nicely designed compact digital point-and-shoot for the price. I haven't used it much yet, but am satisfied so far. It has an optical view finder too, that is getting harder to find in smaller cameras now. The only detail I would have preferred is to have a slide switch between shoot & review modes near the top, instead of a push button near the base. I have used many Canon cameras in the past, and hope this one will be good for a few years too.

Comments about PowerShot A1300 Digital Camera (Silver):
The A1300 is inexpensive and versatile, a good choice for the occasional user. Operating instructions - accessible on camera's view screen - are intuitive and excellent. The zoom and autofocus functions are quite remarkable. Picture quality fully meets expectations. The negatives are minor: batteries and SD card exit from the same port - a poorly constructed nuisance if you need frequent access to the SD for using, say, drugstore kiosk printing. Loading Canon's instruction manual CD on my computer's ML OS 10.8 was unsuccessful, so a manual must be downloaded from other sources (while Canon has no control over OS compatibility, a paper copy manual would have been nice.)

Bought this for my daughter (She's a wheelchair user with limited mobility)
Nice clear easy to read buttons on the rear, which is the main reason I bought it. Some of her previous cameras have been almost impossible to read the buttons, something to bear in mind when buying for the elderly or otherwise incapacitated or infirm.
Simple one touch video recording and intuitive to use. A bit plasticky for my liking but seems quite solid so far. Results are decent enough as well. She's happy so I'm happy!!
