Comments about Audio-Technica AT2005USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone:

A friend in the radio business recommends this mic for those in search of professional sounding audio on the cheep. After two weeks of use, it seems to deliver on that.

I use it as a source for radio interviews via Skype, GoogleHangouts, etc.

There was basically nothing to set up. I just plugged it in to my computer and it was available as an audio input.

I don't use the mini stand that is included, but having cables and the mic clip included was a nice touch.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2005USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone:

Rugged design and fairly good quality so far. I was impressed with the quality considering the low cost. The usb connection seems relatively fragile compared to the design of the mic and the xlr input. The sound is better than I than I expected - i have a large collection of mics - but bought this for a young child who is beginning to record music. The mount it comes with can be used with any stand - the desk stand is fine too - but limiting because you will want this mic relatively close to the subject.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2005USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone:

I've been podcasting since 2007 and my favorite microphone is quite uncommon (a forty-year-old Shure Unidyne 5485D (the one that Robert Plant used to use)). The sound is unbeatable!

However, I have to say that the Audio-Technica AT2005USB is a close match. It gives you clear uncolored sound at a very reasonable price. And since it's USB it's also hum free. The construction is also great.

However, there's something that I don't like. The headphone jack is practically useless. I connected my headphone and the audio level is so low that I can hardly hear myself. Otherwise this microphone is a slam dunk!!!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2005USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone:

I purchased this USB microphone for a professional PC-based videoconferencing application; I could see how it would be a good mic for podcasting and other recordings. After reading reviews online, I was persuaded it was worth the 60 dollars to give it a try. It was easy to install on my mac system, no CD required. The quality was excellent and achieved the desired result. It looks, feels, and performs like a professional cardioid microphone. You need to keep the mic mount, because it slightly larger thicker in diameter than a standard mic; the mic mount can get loose and cause the mic to droop down unless it is positioned more or less upright. The mini-stand that comes with it is sort of flimsy, but can serve a purpose. All in all a great value.
