WRONG!!! the USB port supllies the power. a couple reviews say the camera reads 3.5 or 5 MP, there are several MP setttings 1.3MP up to the 8MP. adjust it! i have a koi pond, and raise koi fry. thats why i bought this camera. i've not taken it to 10' deep but at acouple feet deep it is water tight. i do use silicone greese on the seal for the battery cover.I dont know that its neccessary but the extra protection aint gonna hurt!** based on my experience with this camera i would definately say.. for personal use this camera does what you need it to do.

this camera is useless. the screen is not viewable outdoors and with a top ISO of 200 it will not take decent pictures indoors.
Since the camera lacks an optical viewfinder it is impossible to compose photos and check focus even in bright shade. The LCD screen is simply too dim.
The menu is confusing and difficult to access. The flash resets to no flash after each shot and has to be turned back on each time you want to use it. Flash recycle time is between 10 and 15 seconds with fresh NiMH batteries

I'll be darned if I can figure out how to turn the flash ON. Camera performance is overall very poor in most circumstances.

it works for a few months then the lens and the screen start streaking and to get it fixed cost over the price of purchasing a new one so to me thank god its discontinued.

A total waste of money. "buy cheap and you buy twice" is very true in this case. I was lured by the $ price tag, but even at 8mp, the horrible optics and image sensor will give you old cellphone quality pics even in broad daylight. Add in the speed at which it eats batteries and the fact that it won't remember flash settings, means that your not gonna be able to take many good pics and not very quickly. Just the other day I was out kayaking when I saw a bald eagle close by. I pulled out this cheap vivicam, turn it on, aim it at the bird, can't see the screen in bright sun, it won't shoot because the flash apparently has to charge, you quickly toggle the flash off and it finally takes a slow shot. You turn it off, cause it eats batteries like crazy, yet the next time you turn it on it has defaulted back to auto flash and won't take a shot when you need it to - every freakin time! I'd rather risk dunking my real camera than be constantly disappointed with this sorry excuse for a camera... It seems water resistant, but I haven't taken it down more than a foot or 2. If you think day light pics are grainy with poor contrast, color and horrible artifacting, then don't bother using it under water.

The camera is probably a very nice camera but it is NOT waterproof. I bought it thinking it was an economical way to take some underwater snapshots while snorkling. I got my pictures although they were a little blurry but when I pulled the card out to transfer the pictures it was a little damp. I didn't think much of it but took the batteries out and let it air dry. Now a few months later I wanted to take some pictures of the boys in the lake, the camera won't turn on and it seems it is still damp. Not happy at all and to top it off I can't find my receipt.

Worst camera ever: 1. You cant see anything through the display outside. 2. Uses batteries and eats them after 12 shots. 3. turns off every 10 seconds. 4. no way to see if you have the image focused. 5. took 5 tries to get my pc to recognize the card storage. horrible garbage....

You can not print your pictures. The cable is in the same compartment as the batteries, therefore when you open the door to connect the cable the camera loses power.

Nice, small, light, robust and very easy to use. Perfect for the beach, swimming pool and other occasions where you do not want to take your $1000+ equipment. Did I mention the 2,5 inch screen? Anything smaller is useless outdoors! Great buy!
