I was looking for an affordable netbook, I found the almost perfect one, ASUS EEE PC 1025C. It's great to carry it around, excellent battery life. I am an Educator, portability is the most important for me. This EEE PC is great except for its 1GB RAM, and unfortunately it cannot be user-upgraded. Moreover, it came with a lot of "almost useless" programs. I would have appreciated if Asus had incorporated only useful programs, in this way the netbook would not freeze when opening several chrome tabs. But apart from this it is a great product, Asus is a very reliable manufacturer, I would gladly recommend this product to anyone who want to use it for email, wordprocessing, web light web browsing, etc...

Asus somehow managed to really screw up on this one. This netbook had everything to be just plain awesome - outstanding battery life, a great new processor... but they surprisingly overlooked a fundamental defect: You cannot upgrade it to 2 GB Ram.
This is just an unthinkable huge step backwards. Every regular netbook can do it. Nowadays it costs $10 to buy a 2GB stick. For a huge manufacturer such as Asus, it would probably cost them like $2~$3 to ship it with 2GB instead of 1GB.
But instead, they decided to remove the port used to swap memory sticks, and you need to literally unscrew and disassemble the whole unit if you want to even attempt to upgrade your ram - needless to say your warranty will be voided.
You're better off waiting for a new model to be released to address this failure. No point in having a better processor when you're going to be bottlenecked by the lack of memory instead.

Comments about ASUS 320GB Eee PC 1025C-MU17 10.1" Netbook (Matte Black):
Will be used for maintaining a blog/facebook/navigation, etc. for a coast to coast bicycle ride. Small size, yet with a 320GB harddrive as well as WiFi make it easy to carry. The major plus is the extended battery life.
More RAM would be the only thing to improve the netbook.

Comments about ASUS 320GB Eee PC 1025C-MU17 10.1" Netbook (Matte Black):
This computer allows Windows to be set up in multiple languages, including English, French, Spanish and others - an unusual feature for notebooks sold in US. Battery life is 12 hours on power saving setting, about 7 hours on high performance setting. Adding extra memory is possible but very difficult. Good performance for Intel Atom processor in a netbook, but slow compared to full size notebooks. Keyboard and mouse work well, but keyboard is smaller than standard, so takes getting used to. Great travel computer or for use overseas because of light weight and performance. There is a restore partition on the hard drive. If you have an external DVD drive, you can also burn a set of restore DVDs, something that is important if your hard drive ever crashes. Not a lot of bloatware.

Comments about ASUS 320GB Eee PC 1025C-MU17 10.1" Netbook (Matte Black):
This netbook runs pretty quickly/smoothly and is very light. It has a nice anti-tip feature to help avoid pushing the screen back too far and send it crashing to the floor. It came with lots of bloatware, but it was easy enough to remove. The speakers are not great--maybe how all netbooks are. All in all though,a good product at a good price.

Comments about ASUS 320GB Eee PC 1025C-MU17 10.1" Netbook (Matte Black):
I love that it is perfect for the notebook purposes that I purchased it for. But I am not familiar with the set up enough to do simple thingsl like change background and display settings. I like the initial video which quickly goes over some features, but I am not sure if there is a nore detailed instruction which would be helpful for set up. I am sure those things will resolve when I get some advise from others.

Comments about ASUS 320GB Eee PC 1025C-MU17 10.1" Netbook (Matte Black):
I use it to download images from my full frame DSLR camera - also connect to an HDTV for that. Naturally, I have my browser and e-mail applications, as well as the Open Office productivity suite.
All the installations (including my wireless network and wireless printer) went without a hitch - the easiest bring-up I have ever had under Windows.
I don't use it for Photoshop or any of my serious scientific computing applications, nor am I a gamer. So the little Atom processor is just fine, particluarly considering the very long battery life.

I love the battery life on this. Off goes Windows, on goes Linux Mint-12.
The 1GB of RAM on all of these, including the non-upgrade-ability, is dictated by M$ for the discount on M$ Windows-7. If any Netbook MFG goes beyond 1GB they have to pay a premium for Windows that would make the Netbook noncompetitive.
1GB of RAM is plenty for all my uses with Linux. I have multiple browsers open with 5 or 6 tabs each, listening to music, and, just for fun, played a video. I had 350MB of RAM remaining. So, 1GB is plenty with Linux.
