The 5 x 7' black X-Drop Background System from Westcott is a lightweight package that is perfect for travel. At a little over 5 lb, this kit can be used for headshots, product photography, weddings or general commercial photography in the studio or on location. The 100% polyester fabric comes with grommet holes on the top and bottom for easy hanging and that also eliminates the need to establish a top or bottom orientation. When it gets dirty, it's readily machine washable in cold water and tumble dried on "low".
The background support stand contains telescoping arms and legs and is characterized by quick setup and tear down capability. It's lightweight and will hold the fabric taut. The expandable carrying case is capable of holding the X-Drop System as well as up to three backdrops. It comes with Westcott's one-year warranty.

Works very well to transport to any home for portrait session! Great sell to clients that you can come to their home and set up quickly with small children! Just used for a senior prom session and they looked fabulous! Black photographs beautifully!!!

I originally saw an ad on line, it looked exactly what I wanted, extremely light and easy to set up. The product was available in different color backdrops.
This stand however was a bit to flimsy and after using it just a few times one of the telescoping legs got jammed and I had to return the product.

I just used the X-Drop kit with the black background for the first time this week. I did a window light family and six month old portrait session. The backdrop is lightweight and easy to assemble. In my images the black is deep and rich and wrinkle free. I am going to add the white background next!

Other than remembering not to put the center pole taller than the side poles, I love this product (I used on a shoot and couldn't figure out why I had a wrinkle, until I started taking it apart - oops).
The black would let light through if against a window/light source (so you might have to double up, which I think you could easily do with your own fabric and grommets), but if against a solid wall, works great. Love the compactness.
The bag is wimpy though. No way you'd cram more backdrops in there, and the zippers are weak. First time packing up, they jammed and seams started bursting. If they could improve that, 5 stars.
