The LG 42PA4500 42" Class Plasma HDTV packs a huge amount of great high-end specs and convenience features into a beautiful design that will stand out in any room.
The combination of dynamic contrast which delivers a ratio of 3,000,000:1, with 720p HD and the Triple XD color engine makes the 42PA4500 a remarkable plasma TV by any standard. But that's just the beginning.
Since every room is different, the 42PA4500 employs an intelligent sensor to automatically calibrate the optimal settings to match the color and light level of your specific space. If you want to go a step further, Picture Wizard II allows easy do-it-yourself calibrations to suit your needs. The 600Hz subfield drive flashes the plasma sub-pixels 10 times per second, rendering crystal-clear, judderless action which will definitely make gamers and sports fans happy. Additionally, the AV mode (cinema / game / off) customizes your TV's output to fit the content. The 42PA4500's wide connectivity includes two HDMI connections to accommodate current components and future purchases. A USB drive allows you to share slide shows and videos with your friends.
In addition to all of the above, the 42PA4500 is loaded with convenience features like a sleep timer, parental control, closed captioning A/V input labeling and favorite channel programming. Lastly, Energy Star compliance means that you'll be saving money while helping to save the environment.

This is our first flat screen TV...because I'm slow to adapt new technology, preferring to let others test and rate them for my benefit, and because I'm fiscally conservative (cheep). New technology becomes better and far less expensive over time.
The LG has enriched our viewing experience to the point we have been re watching favorite movies, with more enjoyment. We stopped watching all broadcast TV many years ago so my comments relate only to the use of DVDs. I am a visual image maker and so have high expectations concerning image quality. This LG has not let me down. The only unexpected downside is when I watch it, there is an occasional reflection in the screen of some older man in an easy chair wearing slippers.

I bought this TV based on the 56 reviews (4.8 rating) and they were correct. Also a check on local stores showed they were on backorder. Brilliant picture and sound is far better than any other flat screen I've seen. Love how picture brightness adjusts to how much light is in the room.

I'm not an advanced user (no gaming devices, cable, or internet connected).
Picture quality is wonderful, both with broadcast TV and DVD's. Sound is just OK (although Consumer Reports singled out this model for its sound quality). I find the TV menus are easy to use.
Purchased online with merchant linked from Consumer Reports. Great online experience.

I finally gave in to the whims of my teenagers and purchased this 42" plasma HDTV by LG Electronics! It was highly rated on ConsumerReports.org, and B&H had the best price in the nation! I was a bit nervous having a TV shipped from the east to the west coast, but B&H took excellent care in preparing the TV for shipment! Thank you B&H! Great Job! The set up, picture quality, sound, etc., on this TV are excellent thus far! No complaints. Still getting use to the features! We are now considering adding a Bose theater audio system to the TV!

I used this TV to replace an old, old Sanyo model that finally gave up the ghost.
My son who is more savvy on these things than myself helped me research the appropriate product and source for the purchase. This TV was the largest that I could get that would fit in my existing entertainment system case (solid oak) which we really wanted to keep. It had all the features, and more, that we deemed necessary. The entire family, especially my wife, is enjoying it. It was easy to order, price was right, and the delivery time was fantastic.
I hav e no negatives regarding the purchase of this product.
