The Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver affords both high performance and superb value. This powerful receiver supports 3D content and advanced A/V processing, multiple connections and a power rating of 145W per channel -- that means you can fill the living room with a total of 1015W of awesome audio power to bring your movies, music and video games to life. Plus, you can listen to music and watch video stored on your iPod or iPhone while charging your device through the receiver's front USB input.
With seven HD connections including five HDMI and two component video, you should be good to go. That means you can connect a Blu-ray player and gaming console, and still have three HDMI inputs left for other devices. It offers support for 3D content over HDMI (up to 1080p) for wraparound, immersive video. You can even get better imaging from analog devices that are connected to the STR-DN1030 because it can convert it to a digital signal and output them via HDMI. Since they'll be connected with a single cable for audio and video, that's less clutter around your entertainment space, too.
Another way you can maximize your entertainment value is HD Digital Cinema Sound, which optimizes the receiver to mimic the sound of movie theaters. It has a front height mode to enable vocal height and 3D effects to put you right into the action of your movies or music. Of course, Sony has made navigation easy with an on-screen graphical user interface; you can change inputs, adjust settings and confirm volume levels on-screen.
This receiver supports decoding for all the latest audio formats found on Blu-ray discs like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and Pro Logic IIz. It also comes with a sophisticated auto speaker setup, which employs a microphone to calibrate the sound for your living room. It's just another way to ensure your sound is the best it can be to round out your cinema-like experience. This receiver also supports audio return channel, standby pass-through of audio and video, and has assignable digital audio and video inputs.
Lastly, conveniently operate and control select Sony BRAVIA Sync devices with one remote including: Sony Blu-ray disc players, BRAVIA HDTVs, Sony home theater products.

Comments about Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver:
I recently bought the Sony STR-DN1030, it is feature rich with everything I wanted in an AV receiver at this price.
-
I have a Martin Logan sub, NHT towers front and NHT center channel, with NHT Zeros in the rear.
I am a retired IT Manager so am no stranger to technical instructions or technology in general,
I have spent the past two days trying to set this receiver up. The manual is the most convoluted mess that I have ever seen It has you jumping from page to page, just when you find what you need, you see: "refer to page 44, etc.", you will go nuts trying to skip forward and back just to complete a r simple setup function. I really have no problem with the GUI format (a throwback to the 80's, so am I), but the thing only works when it wants to, and the responrn is so slow that you will be pressing the buttons on the remote repeatedly because you are not sure that it even got the signal!
Sony built a very good receiver, but and it is a BIG but, they need a tech writer that can place him/her self in the room with a user to write clear concise manuals. The programmer that wrote the GUI should be sent back to school for re-training!
Three stars are NOT for the receiver it actually rates 5 stars, but the Manual, remote and setup using the ancient GUI really make a good device very difficult to use!

Step up from my Yamaha system. Easy to setup and install as long as you keep the wiring straight! Love the Bravia feature and need for 1 remote

Comments about Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver:
Used as a Home Intertainment.
Every component is hooked up to the reciever and one HDMI to the TV.
Easly indentifies what component is used.
Really love that the bluetooth audio streaming instantly wakes the unit up from standby as soon as you "connect" a paired device.
The GUI on the str-dn1030 is almost laughably bad looking and unintuitive, but is perfectly functional with the assistance of the user manual

Comments about Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver:
out of the box, the unit would not send Audio to the front right speaker in 2ch stereo mode. Rather it would send audio to the front left and back right surround speaker. very strange. Sony's recomendation, after troubleshooting, was to take the unit back where I got it....only problem is I bought the unit in August and unboxded for the first time on 11-2.

Comments about Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver:
So, far I'm not impressed with the ease of setting up this receiver. Specifically, the GUI display on the TV is a random feature at best. Sometimes it displays, and other times, nothing. I can almost accept the fact that the display is primitive - based I can not accept that it will not consistently display. And I have a Sony Bravia TV, Sony Blu-Ray, etc. So it's not a compatibility issue. Also, the speaker terminal connections are CHEAP, and somewhat difficult to use. If you're buying this receiver and want to use the GUI display alot (ie Pandora)......forget it. You will be so frustrated with the 1980's like display that you'll use a IPOD with Pandora instead. The only consolidation is that the receiver can be software updated, so Sony has a chance to update this GUI mess and provide a 2012 experience. Sorry to be so negative, but I am really disappointed.
Comments about Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver:
I upgraded my system for HDMI switching but the new unit did not have enough audio input ports. I have all SONY components (Tape, 100 CD Changer, Phono) but there is not enough audio inputs on this system. The old Audio Switcher was reused and it added additional Bass and Treble as a pre-amp.
Comments about Sony STR-DN1030 7.2-Ch. Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver:
All in all I truly believe this is the best receiver I have owned to date. I am not an "iFreak" so I was waiting for an affordable receiver that would play via bluetooth from my Android phone. I am also very impressed with the ability to stream Pandora directly (even though my DirecTV receiver does the same). And who can argue with 4 HDMI inputs? I just installed it two hours ago and I am in love with it. The only thing that I am not thoroughly impressed with is the GUI (which is why I took away 1 star). I also have a Sony TV and the GUI on the TV feels like the GUI on the PS3, but not this. It is mostly just text, no fancy, impressive graphics. I am hoping this is cured in a software update. With that being said, overall I am very impressed with this receiver and would definitely recommend this to a friend!
