Product Highlights

The Series 5 6X Systematic 6-Section Long Tripod from Gitzo is a great choice for those looking for a tripod that features professional support, yet adaptable and flexible configurations. The Series 5 Long tripods are ideal for supporting larger video or DSLR cameras, and lenses.

The Series 5 tripod has a unique modular system that can be quickly transformed into different configurations the same tripod to support both photographic and video equipment. This tripod can be extended to 4.9' high and handle a DSLR with up to an 800mm lens.

Series 5 tripods have an Anti Leg Rotation system (ALR), G-Lock, and brushed matte black finish for improved locking performance and minimized reflectivity. A wide selection of accessories allows you to keep growing your system according to your future needs, whether they are still life, macro, outdoor, sport or wildlife applications.

Anti Leg Rotation
This tripod can be opened in less than 15 seconds. Simply loosen all the twist locks on each leg at the same time, then pull the leg down and tighten the locks individually.
G-Lock
For a strong, fast, and safer locking mechanism, G-Lock's special design provides a 'gravity lock' effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock becomes.
Leg Ends
With removable rubber feet, the Series 3 allows you to easily change worn out rubber feet or to fit other accessories, such as spiked feet.
Hook
A built-in hook allows you to hang a stabilizing weight, like a full camera bag or a sand bag, from the bottom of the tripod head plate. This is helpful when using long, heavy lenses, on uneven ground or in windy conditions.

Comments about Gitzo Series 5 6X Systematic 6-Section Tripod (Long):

I prefer to use tripods with 3 or 4 sections because I have found them to be more stable, with fewer vibrations, than 5 or 6 section tripods. However, I needed something to pack in a carry-on, yet be able to handle a heavy body and long lens. So even though this tripod had 6 sections, I decided to try it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Gitzo 6-section tripod. Even with all sections extended, a heavy camera and long lens is very stable.

I hate to pay Gitzo prices, but you do get what you pay for. Well done, Gitzo.

Comments about Gitzo Series 5 6X Systematic 6-Section Tripod (Long):

Purchased this with the 75mm bowl adapter for use with a Miller Compass 25 video head. Will also use with a RRS BH55. Support is strong and relatively light. The legs weigh about the same as the Miller Solo CF sticks, but collapses much smaller. I've owned the Miller Solo and Manfrotto 536 sticks, and prefer the Gitzo for it's portability. No tripod quite like it.

I use it with the Nikon D3,and 70-200 mm lens, it is very solid,on windy days the results are excellent.I use it with the Arca Swiss P1 S Monoball head.It is very small when folded, and can be carried in the carry on bag in the airplane, not heavy .I really recommend it.
