The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V Digital Camera is an advanced point-and-shoot that has 18.2Mp, 40x Clear Image Zoom, and Active 3-Way stabilization to its credit, not to mention 1080/60i HD video capture. In addition, the HX20V also provides you with GPS and compass functionality for geo-tagging and more! When you consider all the auto features of the camera as well, you'll find the HX20V is more than a snapshot machine, it's a real memory-maker.
Those 18.2Mp just don't work alone to provide you with stellar images, they have the help of High Speed AF - for clear photos, even in low-light - along with all the aforementioned features. Other notable features include the Sony G lens and a 3.0" Xtra Fine LCD TruBlack display. The camera also puts a 10 fps burst mode at your disposal, and numerous auto functions for great photos without the guesswork. Face detection, Anti-blink, iSCN, Natural Flash and more all work hard to ensure that your memories will be beautiful for years to come.

Cons:compared to the latest tx66 this camera is thicker, heavier and more complicated with a smaller "non touch screen" that might take you time to get used to it ...flash popup on the left ,it should be in the body ,no manual focus on video....i use the track focus before i star rec and it focus past a branch or track an object ,cat ,bird etc but it turns off or disappears if something pass by in front of subject, and goes back to auto and gets blurry.
Pros: if you want the features of the latest tx66 like pre-shoot color adjustment/effects, plus after effects"steady shot with active mode" plus a bigger zoom 20x optical "40x with Digital" manual focus or track focus and the 1080p 60 frames per second instead of 1080i and bigger battery...,the hx20v is the smallest with all those features..every other camera with this capability its a "super zoom".. bigger size ..huge" and expensive so the hx20 hx30 are the best hybrid between a pocket and a super zoom,it fits on my bag pocket, jacket pocket, backpack side pocket, pijama pocket, skirt pocket, mumu pocket, tutu pocket. :D even jeans if you dont mind women staring at your package...,the only downside is that "the manual focus" dont work during video recording ...the only reason why im considering the hx200v ring on lens with switch from zoom to focus ...but need to test if t works during video rec ...otherwise this is the most powerful ,smallest on its kind ,camcorder replacement ,fit on your pocket 1080 60p steadyshot with activeshot,..point and shoot.

I purchased the HX-20V to replace an aging Nikon P&S that I pack whenever I don't want to carry my DSLR. Unfortunately, the combination of 18Mpix on a small chip, and Sony's aggressive in-camera processing result in photos that I feel fall short of my old Nikon, especially in low light. Most users will never know the difference, but if you're an enthusiast you'll not be happy with image quality.

As with any great camera that comes with a bag of tricks, it takes time to learn. You can get some really great shots but there will be some throw aways. Not the cameras fault though. I call it user error. Love the camera. I was originally going for something smaller but I wanted the lens that this camera offered.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V Digital Camera:
This camera is really good for someone who's looking for a small amatuer camera but still wants to feel like taking semi-professional looking shots. The quality of the pictures is superb and the clarity is really above average.
There are many different options for taking a picture in different conditions with different scenes, color schemes, several manual modes, etc.
Teo disadvantages I found were battery life isn't so great - you'd probably want to get a spare battery with you for filming without charging longer than 1 day.
Other thing is I wish there was an option to edit pictures taken - for example crop pictures.
Otherwise, great camera for the price!

Probably the best "point & shoot" camera out there under $. Great value for money! The only problem I have with it is that the image is distorted when taking a portrait. It elongates the subject. Seems to be fine when shooting in landscape.

I'm happy with every picture I took with this camera, and I can carry it in my jeans' pocket!
