The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera is an 18.2Mp point-and-shoot with a number of things going for it, not the least of which is GPS and Compass functionality. That means your images will be tagged with the exact location they were shot - and contain information on the exact direction in which they were shot! Whether you plan to use this data for geo-tagging, storage, albums, or for future re-shoots, it makes your digital life a whole lot easier, not to mention, interesting.
True to its genre, the HX10V has a number of auto modes packed in for seamless shooting, without the guesswork. The High Speed AF mode, for instance, improves on focus speed speeds over past models, even in low-light. This makes for effortless image capture day or night. Sixteen times optical zoom - and 32x Clear Image Zoom - come in handy for far-off subjects, while Optical image stabilization ensures blur-free photos, even when shooting handheld. Of course, modes like 3D Still Image and Background Defocus will come in handy too, providing you with functionality not normally seen on a point-and-shoot.
In addition to capturing high res still, the HX10V also captures 1080/60i video. Helping the camera to preserve memories of both varieties you'll find features like a built-in flash, a 3.0" Xtra Fine LCD, and a Sony G lens. And no matter which way you choose to shoot, the camera records to Memory Stick Duo cards, as well as SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (Black):
I have been using this camera for everything from scenic panorama's to night exposures of the stars. It has super resolution for the price and has all kinds of awesome features! I really like the color filters, you can set it so that the whole picture is black and white except for anything that is green, or likewise with red, yellow, or blue. It may not be the fanciest camera feature on earth, but I thought it was way cool!
The only drawback I can think of is the size. It's just a tad on the bulky side, although compared to some of the other camera's that are above 18 megapixels, this one's tiny.

I have used a SLR camera for 9 years now. Although this camera was a downgrade for me, I am very impressed with the quality of the pictures. For the price and size, this camera is great for point and shoot users.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (White):
This camera is crazy, i previously owned a Carl Zeiss Lens Sony camera and was afraid to steer away from it but salesmen convinced me. I just used it at a night time concert and i was in the 50th row. literally, i was able to zoom right into the singer and see the hair on his arm. I even did a HD video from my seat and people were saying the sharpness and closeness were better than the radio station had posted using their SLR camera. I had a guy sitting next to me that had a SLR and i was zooming in more than he was. It was the best $300 dollars i could have spent on a camera. Now my husband wants one just like mine for Christmas. Its small and fits in my purse and battery life time is good. I did purchase an extra SD 16 GB just in case i run out of room. This camera has a setting for pets too, so you don't get the red eye glow. you can also plug the cord that comes with it into your tv and view your pictures.

I wanted a compact, point and shoot camaera for my daughter to use. All my other cameras are Nikon but I came across this little Sony Cybershot DSC-HX10V. The spec's were right and the price was on the mark. It's fast to focus and provides crisp, clear shots. The full HD video is a bonus. It is also easy to use. A great addition to our fleet!

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (Red):
This review is ONLY about the GPS related features. For my internet travel guide team I bought 11 GPS cameras since 2010, starting with two Sony HX5V and the Samsung ST1000. In everyday practical use the GPS features of the HX5V are reliable and superior to all other brands. Then we bought the HX7V that is not better than the HX5V GPS-wise. Two months ago I finally found the HX9V which is a fantastic camera for our purposes, fast GPS, correct within 5 meters. Then last week I got the HX10V -- unbelievable improvement over the HX9V: immediate GPS availability when exiting the car and switching on, accurate within TWO meters (!!), PLUS continuous GPS logging of the position every 15 to 20 seconds for 24 hours even when the camera is switched off, mostly accurate within 20 meters when driving a car, looks perfect on a level 9 or level 10 Google map PLUS can take around 100 pictures with one battery PLUS can replace the battery on the fly without disturbing the logging.
The Sony HX10V is my new miracle camera.
I am going to buy 5 more for my staff and will give the Olympus TG-810 (very slow GPS), the Samsung ST1000 (nobody likes the touchscreen, very slow GPS), the Panasonic TZ10 (erratic GPS under trees, very short battery life), the Nikon AW100 (fogging of the lens) and the Canon S100 (fair GPS, erratic logger) away. All of them produce good pictures and/or videos, but for professional use of the GPS they need a lot of re-positioning work afterwords on the computer.
It is amazing that within two years the Sony team was able to design and produce a perfect GPS camera for professional use.
For special use the HX30V may come in handy for immediate upload to the server by Wi-Fi.
The only GPS improvement on my wish list: the GPS location should NOT give the position of the camera but the position of the motif which could easily be calculated from the distance of the motif and the shooting direction of the camera.
Maybe one of the geniuses from the Sony team reads these lines.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (Black):
I purchased this camera for my recent trip to Italy. The panoramic feature alone was well worth it. Full, sweeping views of the Colosseum and Forum in Rome, San Marco square in Venice. I could go on...they were amazing shots. The special settings for background lighting or low lighting work amazingly well. I was able to take pictures inside buildings that my old camera would never have taken. You have to purchase this camera! ;-)

This camera is GREAT! I've had Canons and Nikons, none compare to my Sony DCH-HX 10 V. Pictures and telephoto are great, flash pictures also very good. Also the camera is very well built. As you can see I love this camera.

I mostly shoot pictures of natural settings with this camera.
It looks great.
It has an annoying habit of focusing on the background instead of the subject matter when it comes to certain shooting situations such as small flowers and the like.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (White):
I am a prior Sony 7.1mp Cybershot owner and had lots of success with that camera. I found the DSC-HX10V to be simply amazing! There are tons of picture effects and shooting scenes to select from. The camera has an auto feature that self adjusts to all lighting, movement, and obstructions to getting the shot. Anyone can take great pics with this camera. One of my favorate features is the background defocus setting that takes pictures like a $600+DSLR camera. I would have paid at least an extra $100 for this camera if I had too, but fortunately Sony has this camera priced as a steal.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (White):
The camera is fantastic, phone support is excellent; e-mail support also excellent. the inability to download the Cyber-shot user guide really stinks. The in-camera guide is OK, but very tedious to use. I would like to have the Cyber-shot guide readily available on my PC, not just when I have Internet access. Don't hesitate to purchase this camera it really outperforms a lot of other cameras at a higher price.

I like this camera very much. The pictures are of a good quality and the camera is easy to handle.
The only thing I have to get used to is the flash popping up on the corner, I tend to hold the camera at this point.
Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V Digital Camera (White):
I've had it a week and the output has been outstanding for even a novice like me. The pictures are clear and sharp. The movies are so sharp you think you're there again. I took movies of a track meet and the results are better than any other video camera I've owned

I love the camera because of its good picture quality even when zoomed, the nice design and the easy handling (it has an "i mode" which finds the best mode for you, you don't necessarily have to pick the fitting mode for the picture you wanne take).
