The Sony DSC-TX20 Digital Camera is a 16.2Mp point-and-shoot that boasts water-, dust-, and shock-proof capabilities. That means it's tough enough to stand up to an extreme sport lifestyle, a toddler, and life in general. In addition to capturing high res stills, the TX20 also captures 1080/60i HD video using dual record for stills and movies.
A generous 3.0" Xtra Fine touch panel LCD provides a large platform for recording, reviewing, and menu navigation. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical zoom lens provides a wide 25-100mm focal length and the added benefit of Sony's Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode Image Stabilization. This ensures that even handheld shots will look smooth and clear.
No matter what you're recording, the TX20 stores files to MS Duo, SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. A micro HDMI connection also allows for a one cable connection to your HDTV, for big, beautiful memories on the big screen. Additional highlights of the camera include 10 fps burst capture, 3D still and 3D Sweep Panorama shooting, Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode, and more!

The auto focus works well, it takes just a little getting used to if this is your first Sony, but no big deal. The pictures are sharp and bright. The wide angle lens is w-i-d-e!
It's a Sony - the video is best in its class in my opinion, I've shot some amazing video, who needs a a boxy Go pro bolted to your surfboard?
This is a rugged little camera, just take care of it, and keep salt & sand out of the seals - that is no joke. I couldn't be happier.

This camera is a great little device for summer fun. It takes great shots and videos. The problem I had with this camera was that its a waterproof camera that's not so waterproof! After a couple days of use the screen went green, and then it stopped working. That's why I suggest the Sony Marine Pack to cover it, but it doesn't make sense to shell out all this money. It's probably easier to buy a cheaper camera and put it in a waterproof case. The best part about this whole dilemma is B and H! They had a cooperative and friendly customer service that helped me get the camera replaced.

It's my third; handed down the TX-10 and lost a TX-20; so instead of upgrading got the last TX-20 at discounted price. This camera takes a beating; get protective screen for touch screen; it will scratch. Performs great - recommend this product. (I have Lumix too; this is slimmer in pocket). Only bad thing - the door might slide open in your pocket and then you have dead battery.

Great camera. I wanted something with better qualities than a cell phone, this camera is it.
Takes great pictures and fits anywhere. Nice to have with me, when taking my higher quality camera and gear isn't practical.

I bought tow from this cam. One for me and one for my wife. The battery cover is cheap plastic, so it broke the first week. The other one i use it in the pool for 30 min then it stopped working. After two days in the sun it worked again but i will never use it under water anymore. Isn't it supposed to be waterproof? Other then that the cam is great. Small, works good and great pics.

It takes great photos above the water. for underwater in the ocean you will need to focus in on your subject close. if you do not it will be very blue. nothing is wrong with the camera it will just take some getting use to. once you get the hang of it you will take some great pictures.

Only thing I did not like about this product is when taking a picture close up using the flash was that the picture was too bright. Would be nice to have a low light flash like Pentex had. had no problem using the product under water. The pictures turned out great.

I am a pro videographer and an aspiring photographer.
Pro or amateur, this toy makes a sweet pocket cam. I've used it as a secondary cam on professional shoots with no one the wiser. It is strong, waterproof and always in my pocket.
Obviously not my primary gun, but an exceptional back-up weapon.

I bought a DSC-TX10 last year because it was a cheap and waterproof. Some people say the cover might not be a good idea for beach use. This is not true at all. I travel a lot and when I want to hidemy camera i barry it in the sand and it never got one scratch. The only thing i would say is the touch screen is not that responsive when used in salt water. Not a big deal. The picture quality is outstanding. The panoramas are breathtaking. Overall it is my favorite compac camera so far.

I bought this camera just before a vacation, and took it horseback riding, snorkeling, and diving, and climbed a waterfall with it dangling off my wrist - it lived up to its promise and I got great pictures without putting a mark on it. I even risked taking it almost 30 feet underwater and it was fine. Wonderful camera. The battey life seemed short to me compared to other cameras, but I did have it on quiet a bit.

I bought this camera to use in rain and cold (-24F) conditions when I go jogging. My normal cameras are Sony RX100/Canon S95/Olympus OM-D EM-5. The TX20 is very thin and light. The build is quite good and the camera feels solid. The touch screen will be hard to use if you have large hands and impossible with gloves. The images are generally pleasing when used in good light. The combination of the folded lens and Sony jpeg engine tends to smear details even at base ISO. At higher ISOs, almost all details become smudged. The colors are good and should please most people. Just don't expect miracles from this camera. It's basically a rugged point and shoot in a very small and attractive package.

Comments about Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 Digital Camera (Black):
Let me start off by saying that this is the first time I am writing a review for a product. I'm usually too lazy to write reviews, but this time I thought it would be unfair to this little gem if I didn't. Primarily, I'm a SLR & DSLR guy, but I never leave home without a point and shoot in my pocket. Although this is not the type of point and shoot that professionals like to brag about (no manual control and no RAW), this little guy has capabilities that blow all those pro style point and shoots out of the water. Photography is not about having the best quality pictures all the time, sometimes you just want to freeze that precious moment and enjoy looking at it for years to come. Sometimes those precious moments are in a challenging environment like sandy beach or water park,... where other cameras need to be pampered in the bag. That is where this camera shines. As usual with Sony, the color accuracy is perfect, and the picture quality considering the tiny size of the camera, which is smaller than my cell phone, is awesome. I f you know what this camera is really for, and keep your expectations within its capabilities, this camera will blow you away.

I use this camera mainly for general family pictures and videos. For this purpose the camera has been excellent.
The best things about this camera (compared to cameras I've owned in the past) are fast turn on to catch those fleeting moments, ease of use, convenient button locations, compact size, fantastic resolution and clarity, can handle low light settings reasonably well, capable of catching moving objects with minimal blurring, and great video capability.
Among some of the very cool features that I've tried are the background defocused and panoramic shots. Both of which are very easy to set up and use.
Can't wait to try it underwater!
