The black Digital Holster 40 V2.0 from Think Tank contains a unique "Pop Down" feature that allows the lens hood to be kept on the camera held in shooting position. For the active shooter, this is a real time-saver. The case is made to hold a regular-sized DSLR such as a Canon 1D, 1Ds or Nikon D3, D4 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 with its hood either reversed or in shooting position. Or, it can hold a wide lens such as a 24-70mm f/2.8 with the hood in shooting position. Your camera can also be placed in the bag with a tripod plate or L-bracket attached to it.
This is a form-fitting case, somewhat reminiscent of a western holster - ready to draw and shoot at a moment's notice. The case comes with a side rail attachment that accepts a small Modular, Skin, or Multimedia component. This increases the footprint and capacity of the holster as well as your shooting capabilities. The holster comes with Think Tank's "Rotate or Lock" technology for their Pro Speed Belt, Thin Skin Belt or Steroid Speed Belt that permits you to attach the holster with no effort at all. There is also a smooth fabric on the belt to minimize friction against your body. One of the best features of the bag is that the lid opens away from your body. This enhances access to your gear as well as adding a significant security aspect to the bag since, when opened, the lid acts a shield preventing others from seeing what's inside. The removable shoulder strap and top grab handle are complemented by dual zippers that guard the access to the main compartment.
For accessories, a front stretch pocket can hold lens caps, batteries and other small items. Another touch fastened small accessory pocket is located under the top lid that is perfect for holding a filter. For ultimate protection of the delicate LCD screen on your DSLR, a soft divider fits over the top protecting it from the strap that may be stuffed inside.
There's nothing like networking so the bag comes with a neat business card holder right under the top grab handle. Finally, for maximum protection while outside, the bag comes with a built-in rain cover that is stored in an outside pocket and which can be easily deployed when the weather turns against you. The holster comes with Think Tank's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 40 V2.0 (Black):
This is my first Think Tank purchase, along with the pro belt, harness, a couple of lens changers and a strobe pouch; about $300 all in. I bought this kit for hiking, but don't plan to use all attachments each time.
The holster is very well made, and easily accommodates a pro or gripped body with a long lens mounted (hood reversed), when the "pop down" is extended. In my case, a Canon 5D or 5DIII with grip and a 70-200 f/2.8. The included shoulder strap is a nice touch, for using the holster without the belt.
The size of the holster adds substantial width to my "beam" when mounted at the side of my hip; fortunately, the Think Tank system makes it possible to slide the holster around to the back of the belt when immediate access is not required.

Fit my Phase One DF body with 45MM f2.8 attached, or with 75-150MM f4.5 attached with unzipped extended holster. Perfect.

If you are shooting a pro grip Nikon body I highly recommend the Think Tank bags. Durable construction and a snug fit are the highlights. I feel very safe with my gear in their bags. The extension is a benefit, but if you really want to use a longer lens I suggest getting the larger bag. Just my opinion, but it's expensive equipment so your call.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 40 V2.0 (Black):
I bought this for a kayaking trip in Greenland. The front holster design allowed for easy access, even while keeping my arms free while paddling. The depth is great for a long lens, but the only drawback is that it's a bit tight for my D7000 with a grip attached. The rain cover was handy for protecting it against saltwater splashes, but the holster itself was able to absorb a fair bit of water.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 40 V2.0 (Black):
I use this bag for my Nikon D7000 with a battery grip. Currently I have a 35mm 1.8 lens with it, and it fits amazingly with tons of room for a longer lens. Possibly the best thing about this bag is the lack of that awkwardness you get from a full size bag. The one things that is bothersome though, is the lack of space for additional accessories, so if you want to carry another lens or a flash, you're going to have a hard time with this bag.
Other than that, this bag is built like a tank, and is super comfortable!
