The black/gray Speed Racer V2.0 from Think Tank is a bit larger than Think Tank's Speed Freak V2.0 - otherwise, it's basically the same rugged, durable and flexible design but is the largest of Think Tank's Speed Convertible series. Similarly, it boasts a host of features. This is a flexible, compact bag built for heavy-duty, fast use. Whereas the Speed Demon holds 1-2 lenses, the Racer is designed to hold your pro-sized DSLR with a 24-70mm f/2.8 attached and a 70-200mm f/2.8 next to it or 2-4 lenses in its main compartment that opens away from you for both rapid access and security. Opening away from your body means that only you will be able to see inside since the top lid acts as a shield against those around you. For even more flexibility, the bag can be worn as either a shoulder or waist pack - or as a combination of the two. There's even a top grab handle for quick grab moments.

It features a ballistic nylon exterior and YKK zippered pockets. The top contains a zipper that permits you to access your gear without having to unzip the entire top lid - another security feature. There are also multiple storage pockets for smaller items like pens and memory cards.

When worn as a shoulder bag, note that the strap is not only anti-slip in nature but removable for turning the bag into a waist pack. When worn that way, the waist belt contains Think Tank's Modular Rails that permit attachment of Modular, Skin or Multimedia components to increase gear carrying capacity as needed. The waist design contains buckle stops that prevent the belt from moving about while walking, running or trying to get that important shot. However, when worn as a shoulder bag, the waist belt tucks away inside the bag to eliminate the bulk of the straps swinging at your side.

Inside, the top lid is a clear pocket for storing all your small stuff like pens and filters. There's an additional attached lanyard on which you can attach keys or an accessory storage pouch. The front has an expandable pocket that is used for your phone. On the back, a large pocket is there for more small stuff like a note pad, more pens or anything you need rapid access to but want held against your body. On the sides, more pockets allow you to stuff in your gloves or a walkie-talkie.

For complete protection, the bag comes with a rain cover stored within a mesh pocket that is secured by another lanyard. This prevents the cover from blowing away when out in strong winds. The Speed Racer is backed by Think Tank's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

Carries a pro size DSLR with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens attached; also holds a 70-200mm f/2.8 next to it - or will hold 2-4 lenses
Main compartment opens wide and the lid folds away from the body for easy access to gear. Opening away from your body provides additional security since no one but you will be able to see inside bag
Can be worn either as a shoulder bag or as a belt pack with the Think Tank convertible system
The integrated waist belt disappears by tucking it into zippered side pockets. This unique convertible system is designed to minimize bulkiness while carrying the Speed Demon V2.0 as a shoulder bag
Modular rail on each side of the belt allows attachment of Think Tank's Modular Rotation System components for increased gear capacity. Using the integrated belt with the shoulder strap helps balance weight distribution between the waist and shoulder. Photographers can carry more gear easier and with less discomfort by carrying the bag in this mode
Includes detachable, cushioned shoulder strap
Non-slip coating on shoulder strap prevents strap from sliding off the shoulder
Breathable mesh lining on the back of the bag and integrated belt help keep you ventilated and cool
Metal Buckle Stops on either side of the main belt buckle prevent the belt from loosening past their positions during vigorous movement
A zipper across the top of the bag allows access to small lenses or accessories without opening the main zipper
A clear accessory pocket is also underneath the lid holds small accessories like extra pens, a small multi-tool or a tube of sunscreen
A flat pocket, for lens caps or filters, is inside the main compartment toward the front of the bag
The front organizer pocket keeps important accessories easily accessible. Handy features such as dedicated pen pockets and a built-in lanyard for securing keys or a memory card wallet are standard with the bag
A bellowed pocket is at the very front of the bag for carrying certain items like a smart phone, separately from other gear
Top carrying handle for quickly grabbing the bag when you need to go
Stretchable side pockets with reinforced bases are on either side of the bag. These can be used to carry miscellaneous items like gloves and a hand-held radio
Made with the highest quality materials like ballistic nylon and YKK RC Fuse zippers
A seam-sealed rain cover is included with each bag. It is stored inside a mesh pocket within the front accessory pocket. The detachable blue lanyard (connected to the red fabric loop) keeps the rain cover from blowing away in high winds
Compatibility
Carries a standard size DSLR with 2-3 small zoom or prime lenses

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

The materials and quality of construction are outstanding. This bag holds exactly what I need it to, a body with a 24-70 lens, a 70-200 lens, a 50 lens and my speedlight. There's still a little room to spare and plenty of pockets for small items. I will say that the zipper on the top flap is useless. When unzipped, the opening isn't wide enough to be functional. I think it would have been better to leave out the zipper and make the storage pocket on the inside of the lid larger. That compartment is really small to allow room for the zipper. This flaw doesn't really detract from the bag, but it seems like it could have been executed in a way to make it work better.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

I love this bag because i use this bag when I need to go light on short trips
and i carry my 24-70 with a battery pack attached ,50 mm flash and flash controller and when I go on a hike I use my backpack .

With this camera bag you can carry a lot of camera gear ,room for
storage outside the bag as well in the inside .I also like the strap is very comfortable .

One thing that i don't use is the zipper on the lid , to me I would like the bag to have another external compartment with its on zipper instead .

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

I can easily get 3 lenses, in addition to the one attached to my camera, in this bag. And plenty of room for all the accessories that I need to have with me.

The top loading zipper slot makes it easy to grab the camera out of the bag without having to unzip the whole top.

The strap is comfortable and doesn't slip.

I purchased this because of the other great reviews and 5 star ratings. And I'm glad that I did.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

This bag is great to carry just a body with lens attached and one or two more lenses and a flash. I have many bags in different sizes from rolling to backpacks. Each is good for a different purpose. This bag is great if I am shooting a wedding or an event where I need one camera and a couple of lenses.

I also like that it does not have any velcro closures for the top and that the zipper top opens away from the body. I was at a wedding with a different bag with velcro enclosures and I made a lot of noise trying to open the top to change lenses.

That is when I went searching for a new bag and chose the Speed Racer v2.0.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

I finally found a great bag to work out of that carries exactly what I actually need for a shoot. I am a Photographer that likes to carry everything with me. I mean everything. The only way for me to accomplish this was to resort to a roller bag, which is not conducive if you're shooting a wedding. Too many moments are missed when you're struggling to work out of a roller bag (or backpack). I knew I needed to do two things: 1. cut down on the amount of equipment I kept with me at all times during a wedding and 2. Find a bag that can carry my 2nd camera with battery grip and attached lens, two extra lenses, flash, light meter, extra batteries, extra memory cards, car keys, wallet and business cards.

After an incredible amount of research and read reviews, I decided to take the plunge and get this Think Tank Speed Racer V2.0. Well, after receiving it, I can say with 100% certainty that this bag will be my go-to bag for all wedding and event photography from now on.

First impressions: high quality build with long lasting materials, very comfortable on the neck and back even when stuffed to the brim with a Nikon D4 with 70-200mm lens attached (lens hood in the reversed position), Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 lens, Nikon 85mm 1.4 lens, wallet, car keys, extra batteries, light meter, Nikon SB700 flash, lip gloss, Samsung Galaxy S3 and business cards.

The girly girl in me has been concerned about how good my bag looks. So I've spent hundreds of dollars on Epiphanie bags, Cheeky Lime bags, Jill-e camera purses and roller bags...All of those were fine and dandy for carrying a camera body with one lens for walk-around shooting, but they just didn't do the trick when I actually needed to work out of them.

The Speed Racer is far from high fashion, but it's certainly not an eyesore either. It's professional looking and it looks compact but is deceptively roomy. My favorite feature is the top opening because it opens away from your body, acting like a handy shelf on our hip for easy access to your 2nd camera and for lens changes.

I am so happy I finally purchased this item and I think I am now hooked on Think Tank products as well! The only problem is that now I want to buy every accessory that comes with it!

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

I used to use the Think Tank's modular system. But I don't want to have many different items attached to the belt. I turned and bought this one as replacement. For this model, the size is bigger than what I thought, and it's roomy. I can put a D700 with 17-35/f2.8, and 70-200/f2.8, 24-70/f2.8, and sb-900. Also it can hold lots of accessories in it. And I can attach a speed changer and lens changer to the belt.

The shoulder strap is comfortable, it has non-slip coating on it. Love it.

I will admit that the bag on shoulder looks great, but on the waist is BIG.

One thing I have concern is the ring to hook the shoulder strap is not D-ring. I posted a message to Think Tank's facebook, they didn't have answer why not to use D-ring.

It all fits very nice, I only wish it was 1/2 inch to 1 inch bigger on the sides to make it a perfect belt pack. but it is 99.99 out of 100 for me.

I have been looking for a bag of this size and design forever. So glad I bought this bag. It is well thought out and made, typical of Think Tank products. I have a zillion bags, most of which are for big effort shoots. This bag is nice in that I can pop a lens or two in it, have wiggle room to spare, and off my family and I go for our walks or little weekend day trip adventures. No need to carry one of my big pro bags around. Perfect.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

Having previously purchased a Think Tank Street Walker Hard Drive Backpack which I love, I had high expectations when ordering this bag. I was not disappointed ! Same high quality materials and workmanship as the backpack but perfect size for casual photo excursions. Deep enough to allow two layers (see photos below)I am able to carry a SB-900 flash, a 16-35mm lens and a MB-D12 battery grip in the lower layer and a Nikon D800 body with a Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 lens attached above it.
The bag has integrated waist straps with store nicely out of the way when not in use. The top opens away from you thus allowing easy access to your equipment plus providing a platform when changing lenses. Lots of dividers are provided so the interior can be arranged in numerous ways.
The only thing I don't think was necessary is the zipper in the top flap since it would be awkward to remove anything thru that opening. Other than that it is a great bag !

This compact back with oodles of pockets organizes your full size DSLR with a 70-200 lens attached with room for several other lens. Waist straps take the stress off your back and shoulders. Easy to get into and always ready for a grab and go. Love it!

Great size bag for a 1D Mark IV with 70-200 attached. Enough other space for extras needed onsite. Like the way the belt can be stored when not in use and shoulder strap used in a conventional way.

Simplistic in design but functions just the way I need it to. I trudge around many sporting events, sometimes walking long ways (golf) and this bag holds up, is comfortable to carry, holds what I need and is accessible.

I use this product as a quick access for lens and spare camera body.
Excellent make and quality material, zippers and padding.
                                      Exceptional functionality and design.
Rain cover loaded in front pocket.
Most importantly, the option to switch between belt and shoulder strap is so handy.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

My main camera bag is a backpack that holds everything. Problem is when you want a light bag to just grab on the go it's too heavy and bulky.

I started searching for a bag that would hold the D700 with the 24-70 2.8 attached along with the 70-200 2.8. Enter this bag.

After doing a lot of looking I decided on this bag. Before I could get it though the wife orders it as a gift.

The quality of the bag is great. It fits the camera with no problems and has room to spare. The shoulder strap is well padded and comfortable. I have used it a few times already and it does the job well.

There are only a few things I don't like about it.

                                        1) It would be nice to have the rain cover store in a pocket on the bottom of the bag. Currently you need to store it in one of the standard pockets so it takes up room

                                        2) Not a fault of the bag and I guess I am spoiled by the backpack but having more pockets would be nice. Currently the bag has plenty of storage but they are big pockets.

                                        3) Just a design of the bag but I'm not a fan of the zipper in the top of the lid. I can see where people would like it but I'm not one that will use this feature.

Those aren't deal breakers for me and since my father noticed how much I liked the bag and the quality of the bag he bought one as well.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Speed Racer V2.0 (Black/Gray):

I own multiple bags. I got this one to be my quick grab bag when I want to carry more than a single body with my walk around lens. I've used it a couple of times now and it does it's job very well. I can carry my 70-300, 35mm and 12-24 lens, along with a couple of filters and other small items. And, unlike the backpack type bags I own and use for longer trips, I can work out of the bag. It also has the ability to carry a water bottle and snacks in the side pockets. This is my second ThinkTank bag and like the first, very well made. My only complaints are: I can put too much stuff in the bag, making it heavier than I want to carry, and the top zipper is stiff, making closing the lid securely a little difficult. I think as I use it, that problem will go away.

The bag carries well with just the shoulder strap, but having the waist belt adds a significant amount of security. I can bounce from rock to rock if I want, and know the bag will stay with me.

I debated for a long time as to whether to get this bag or its smaller brother, the speed freak. I'm glad I went with the larger bag. I would always rather have a bag just a bit bigger than I need, than one I have to cram tightly.

Pricy, but good things always are. I may not even buy another bag for a long period of time, this one works so well.

I a working photographer and sometimes I only want a few tools in my bag of tricks. This bag is well padded, durable, the pockets are a good size, and I love the size of this bag. I currently have my 50mm, 24-70mm and my 70-200mm In my bag...along with batteries, memory cards, filters, and EXPO disc. Did I mention it had a rain cover. The zippers are high quality and seal very well. Think Tank makes great products and I use them for everything from event shooting to sporting events. Highly recommend this bag if you shoot a full frame camera and need a bag that holds a lot in a small package.
