The black Sling-O-Matic 30 Sling Camera Bag from Think Tank is larger than the Sling-O-Matic 20 and is the largest of the Sling-O-Matic series. It offers the same great featuers but with greatly increased capacity. Whereas other slings require readjustment of your gear when you switch shoulders, the Sling-O-Matic maintains its gear positioning no matter which shoulder you use. The bag easily slides along its set of rails to accommodate either shoulder - and your gear remains equally accessible when the sling is worn in front. Capacity-wise, this bag is made to hold a regular or some pro size DSLRs and a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens attached with the hood in shooting position plus 3-5 extra lenses. In addition, it has a separate padded compartment for your 15.4" laptop. Its internal dividers can be used to configure the bag to suit the gear you are carrying that day.

This kind of bag is discreet and does not appear to be a traditional camera bag, yet, it packs the features that make it a viable option. Not only will it hold a camera and lenses but it's capable of holding a tripod using the included tripod straps. Other large accessories or a water bottle can be held in its long side pocket. There's also room for plenty of accessories by using one of the three zippered pockets located on the front, side and back. It even has a business card pocket on the top eliminating the need to open the entire bag to get to your comp card.

For carrying purposes, the sling rides on rails to switch from shoulder-to-shoulder but there's also a chest strap that can be used to create additional stability while walking.  For added flexibility, you can use the chest strap as a waist strap. To assist with its compact design, the sling includes a small pocket for storing any of the removable straps.

Finally, for ultimate protection, Think Tank includes a removable rain cover to protect your gear from the elements. The Sling-O-Matic is backed by Think Tank's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

Carries a regular or pro size DSLR and a 70-200mm f/2.8 attached with lens hood in position, plus 3-5 additional lenses
Separate padded compartment for 15.4" laptop
Sling-O-Matic's adjustable, fully padded shoulder strap "automatically" slides along a set of rails to change which shoulder the bag can be worn on. With one smooth motion, the Sling-O-Matic can be quickly switched to the opposite shoulder without losing the characteristics that have made sling bags popular among photographers
Gear access always stays on top, when the Sling-O-Matic is in front, no matter which shoulder the bag is carried over; no complex reconfiguration of the Sling-O-Matic is required. Simply flip the bag over, open it up and shoot
Sling-O-Matic can switch back and forth "automatically" to carry over either shoulder
Gear access always stays on top when Sling-O-Matic is in front
Up to a medium sized tripod can be carried on one side using the included tripod straps. Each Sling-O-Matic includes two fully adjustable straps that attach to small, but secure, fabric loops on either side of the long pocket. Depending on the size of the tripod legs, one or two of the legs can be inserted into the long pocket for additional stability; some small tripods can simply be carried in the long pocket, without using the tripod straps
Long side pocket for carrying a large water bottle or other bulky accessories
Large handles on three sides help to swing the bag around or just carry it in hand
Wide zippered pockets on front, back, and side for carrying a newspaper, airline boarding passes, or other items
Includes chest strap for additional stability while walking around; the adjustable side of the chest strap can be used as a waist strap, if preferred
Business card pocket on the top for carrying a short stack of business cards
A small pocket on the bottom of the Sling-O-Matic is available for storing any of the removable straps
A seam-sealed rain cover is included for protecting the Sling-O-Matic and its contents from heavy rain, dust or snow

Comments about Think Tank Photo Sling-O-Matic 30 Sling Camera Bag (Black):

When I travel I can now carry all my camera gear plus more in one bag that is easy to carry. My 70-200 lens fits well, even attached to my camera. The price was great and it arrived quickly...thanks B&H.

On a recent trip I had the above camera and lens along with a 24-105 lens, a flash unit, my point and shot camera along with the chargers for both. My I-pad, various cables and plugs along with on personal items.

        It's a great bag.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Sling-O-Matic 30 Sling Camera Bag (Black):

This is the best bag I've found so far to replace an old Temba bag that's not made any more. The construction is good and the sling works as advertised. There are a few comments though:

            - The pocket on the bottom isn't really all that useful. I suppose a very small tripod or an umbrella would fit in there, but getting to it isn't real easy.

            - The side (forms the bottom when on your back) doesn't have any useful pockets. I'm not sure why they even went to the trouble of putting it in.

            - The two big side pockets are very tight. You could put a tablet in there, but not much more.

            - The laptop pocket is also tight. It works for an ultrabook, but putting a full size laptop in there would be very tight.

            - Not much in the way of pockets, which just seems weird with a Think Tank bag. I got around it by putting a pencil pouch with my little stuff that I slide in one end.

On the positive note, it works very well for carrying my E-M1 with grip, and four lenses and plenty more room. As well as my ultrabook and the cables for the laptop in another pouch.

The tripod straps actually work pretty good, but I will probably try to come up with something a bit different. They take to long to get the tripod released.

I'm a professional videographer/photographer and love the ability to have my 5d Mark III with a Zacuto Z-finder pro mount and 70-200mm lens fit facing down. The extra storage compartments are great for batteries and other accessories. I first bought the Sling-O-Matic 20 and found it didn't have enough space for the camera and lens. Being able to change shoulders and have it swing down for easy access is the best feature.

I generally carry 2 lens at a time - the 70-200 f2.8 and the 24-70 f2.8. With this bag, I can carry the 70-200 attached to the D800 and have the other ready to go with just a swing of the bag from back to front. This is the second bag I have gotten from Think Tank (StreetWalker HardDrive) and am impressed with both. Well thought out, well made, and impressively responsive customer service.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Sling-O-Matic 30 Sling Camera Bag (Black):

I can fit my Panasonic DMC-GH3 in the bag with my 100-300 lens on it, with the lens hood in the proper position to shoot - all face down using just 1/3 of the bag. The rest of the bag has my 45mm Macro lens and my 14-140 - along with power cords, HDMI cables, filters, you name it. It is easy to layer the contents for easy access to the stuff I use all the time, but still easy enough to get at what is underneath.

The ability to switch shoulders makes it possible to actually use this as a shoulder bag or sling bag without wearing out one shoulder, regardless of the weight of the stuff I put in the bag.

Warning: If this bag could hold a standard sized laptop, I would have been a lot happier. The pocket is wide enough for a 14" laptop but not deep enough. And it can't hold the standard sized 15.6" regardless of the depth. I ended up buying a new laptop that would fit in the side pocket. The new laptop will probably only get used on photo and video shoots, as well as on vacations, but that's OK for me. Other people might not be happy with this design flaw. That is what dropped it to four instead of five stars.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Sling-O-Matic 30 Sling Camera Bag (Black):

I bought this in preparation for an overseas trip because it offers a huge amount of storage space and also allows me to fit a laptop, all in a carryon size (I wanted to carry on the equipment to avoid having it lost or damaged).

I was able to fit in an enormous amount of equipment, which is exactly what I wanted it to do. However, the downside is that a lot of equipment can really be too much weight for the single shoulder strap, especially when standing in the customs lines to get back into the US (mine weighed in at 26 pounds with the laptop, laptop power cord/charger, 2 flashes, 2 lenses, camera body, portable hard drive, battery charger, etc). Unfortunately, the waist straps are too flimsy to transfer any weight to your hips and really only serve to keep the bag from bouncing around (not really a problem if you've loaded it down).

Given the possible weight that I can pack into this bag, I wish it had more padding on the single strap, or that the strap spread the load over more of my shoulder. That's what keeps me from giving it 5 stars. I also found that the bag interfered somewhat with the cross-body camera sling I use, but this was more of an inconvenience than a real problem. In all other respects it's a great bag, especially with the laptop and related pieces pulled out

The design is thoughtful and I really liked the ability to pull the bag around to the front where I could easily access the main compartment without taking off the bag. The interior zippered area is great for small cables or other small items, and the grab handles are well placed and useful. Even the exterior, full-length pocket on one side is useful as long as you don't put anything fragile inside since that side ends up underneath the bag when you set it on the ground and open the main compartment.

Overall, I'm happy with the bag and would recommend it to others. Just beware overloading your shoulder, and note that to switch shoulders you will have to remove the bag.
