The black Airport TakeOff Rolling Camera Bag from Think Tank is tailor-made for the inveterate photographer who's constantly on the move and needs a durable and spacious bag to hold a wide variety of gear. It's perfect for two DSLRs stored either with or without lenses plus additional lenses up to a 400mm f/2.8. In addition, it will accommodate your 15" laptop as well as some 17" laptops, depending on the size. The computer is held in its own pocket underneath the front flap and held securely using the included cable and lock - a nice security feature. To facilitate computer storage, the bag will also hold Think Tank's optional Artificial Intelligence 15 bag in the front pocket. Internal, padded dividers can be configured to suit your gear needs.

The bag can be carried by either its dual wheels and retractable handle or via its tuck-away backpack straps that are rapidly deployable. The straps, when not needed  are kept within their own rear zippered pocket. The pull handle, when not used stores neatly within a separate zippered pocket. For additional portability, top and side grab handles are provided. Access to the bag is via its zippers that will accept a user-supplied lock.

What photographer doesn't need a tripod on location? No problem for this bag since a tripod or monopod can be carried on the side of the Airport TakeOff by using the included straps and tripod cup. Your monopod will neatly fit within a stretchable pocket on the side of the bag and held in place with supplied straps.

This bag is an excellent balance between a backpack and rolling case. This dual functionality combined with its high storage capacity gives it an edge over similarly designed bags. It's warranted for life against manufacturer's defects.

Holds up to two pro or regular size DSLR bodies with or without lenses attached
Holds up to 400mm f/2.8 (tight with lens cap) and other assorted lenses
The TakeOff can carry regular size DSLRs across the top of the bag and/or pro size DSLRs along the sides

The cable and lock for your laptop are inside the clear pocket underneath the front flap of the bag. The optional Artificial Intelligence 15 fits in the bag's front pocket

I use a large, heavy medium format camera, the Hasselblad H4D. I have two rolling camera bags and two backpacks, all of which are advertised to work with medium format cameras, and each bag works as either a rolling bag OR a backpack for the Hassy. However, this bag does it all beautifully, and it isn't even advertised as being suitable for a medium format camera. Also, B&H doesn't even include this bag in its listing of backpacks – probably an oversight.

I've attached a photo showing how well the bag can carry a medium format camera, several lenses and accessories, and lots of camera gear. When fully loaded, my bag and camera equipment can reach 35 pounds. However, the load is easily rolled through the airport and over smooth pavement. And, when you are hiking down a country trail or up the side of mountain, the bag readily converts to a backpack, with comfortable padded shoulder straps. The shoulder straps are completely hidden in a zippered compartment when not in use.

Most single-purpose backpacks also have a hip belt to help carry the weight. Although this bag does not have a hip belt, I was able to purchase a relatively inexpensive backpack hip belt, fitted to my size, at my local trail outfitters shop. The zippered compartment at the back of the bag folds down to form a cushioned lumbar support when the shoulder straps are in use. The lumbar support is held in place by a substantial Velcro strip at the bottom of the bag. Without any modification to the camera bag, the hip belt slides right into the pocket formed by the lumbar support, permitting a substantial portion of the weight to be carried comfortably on the hips.

Although the bag looks too big to fit in an overhead compartment, in my experience over two years it really does fit in all full-sized aircraft (not in regional puddle jumpers). However, although the bag will easily carry my 15 inch laptop, to ease the fit in the overhead compartment and to spread out the weight, I carry my laptop, together with its transformer, backup hard drive and other computer paraphernalia, in a separate laptop bag designed for that purpose.

I recommend this bag very highly – thank you, Think Tank.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport TakeOff Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

I plan to use this on an upcoming trip which will require several airport transfers. As a small person [110#], trying to manage a backpack with 2 cameras and 3 lenses [including 2 long ones], and a laptop, is a bit much. I am looking forward to being able to roll all this onboard instead of struggling! The reconfigurable partitions inside the bag should allow me to organize everything well.

This bag is perfect for what I needed. I do a lot of on location photography & this bag does it all. It got plenty of room for a few lens, camera body, two flashes, and a bunch of odd & ends needed! Just with what is listed my bag get heavy. That fact that I can roll it in most conditions is great....but when I can't I just throw it on my back! Much better than a one strap style of bag. Best purchase I made in a long time...Just wish I made it sooner!

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport TakeOff Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

The bag is quite spacious for its size. It fits my 7D and XTi along with all my lenses, flash and accessories with room to spare. The wheels rolls smoothly along just about every serface that I've used the bag on. The backpack straps are generously padded and really help distribute the weight of the bag and contents evenly and comfortably. The interior contains velcro dividers that fit over the hump that the handle creates, which helps in organization. Everything fits tightly. I would recommend this bag without hesitation

                        Overall excellent bad.
Compartments inside a bit weird, of unequal depths.
Desperately needs a couple of horizontal attachment tabs on the side, so you can clip lens pouches (or other attachments).
Monopod / tripod attachment is a song + dance, but it works.

However, this bag does it all beautifully, and it isn't even advertised as being suitable for a medium format camera. Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport TakeOff Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

Love my new ThinkTank Airport Takeoff rolling camera bag! I bought it for our upcoming Safari after I saw the quality of the ThinkTank Airport Accelerator Backpack that I purchased. I intended on buying a simple back for additional equipment, but when I loaded up the Accelerator, I decided I had to add the Takeoff for all my secondary gear. I also purchased a number of the cases for my cables, changers and gear, speciality cases for by CF cards and batteries, a speedbelt and some harnesses. The ThinkTank products are very functional, great quality and should last for many years.

I like the easy rolling ability and how many separate compartments are inside. I also like that it will fit in the overhead compartments of airplanes. The only thing I found a little inconvenient was that my Nikon D800 with a eye guard over the viewfinder didn't fit in the slots for a camera body. Otherwise it is a good bag.

Best made bag I ever had. Everything on this bag is top notch. Very configurable and a pleasure to carry. Having it available as a backup is great too but if you want to use it mainly as a backup I might go with a different bag. This one is better for occasional use as a back pack and primarily as a roller bag.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Airport TakeOff Rolling Camera Bag (Black):

WHY I BOUGHT:I used to use a regular carry-on, and then packed it with a few smaller camera bags (year... seriously... I DID that)... so I needed a more efficient solution. What attracted me most to this was the deployable backpack straps because I primarily shoot DSLR documentary video, so this seemed like the best choice for travelling on airplanes, but also running and gunning with a bunch of gear.INITIAL THOUGHTS:Build quality leaves nothing to be desired; this case is tough! It's heavier than I wanted it to be, but I assume that the added weight is necessary to make it as tough and rugged as it is. I actually don't have a problem with a heavy rolling case, but was only concerned that with all of my equipment, it would surpass the allowable international carry on weight allowance. I ended up having to pack my monopod into my check-in (no biggie).IN-FIELD USE:I shot all throughout Taiwan, through dense forested mountains, to the surftown beaches, and of course, through dense urban areas, in crazy winds and heavy zero-visibility rain. In short, loved this rolling case, with a few 'buts':1) Telescoping handle felt cheapy cheapy. Obviously, you should never lift a packed bag from the telescoping handle, but even when rolling around the airport, it FELT like it MIGHT break. It didn't, but it just felt like it might.2) I'm sure THINKTANKPHOTO did their usability testing, but I wish the main compartment's "hinge" was along the height of the case (like a regular suitcase), as opposed to along the bottom width.3) I wish there were four wheels. My experience with my actual travel suitcases, both of which have four wheels, is that it's so much easier to maneuver comfortably. Although this wasn't NOT comfortable, I think if this had 4 wheels, I would've bumped it from a 4-star rating to a 5-star... I think.FINAL THOUGHTS:I was looking for something hella rugged, meets international carry-on size allowance, and this definitely delivered. The backpack straps made a WORLD of difference (especially as a single shooter doing docu-video work through unpredictable terrain). If THINKTANK releases a V2 with 4 wheels, it'd be a non-decision; I'm buying it immediately.
