Giottos' VGR8255-S2N Carbon Fiber Tripod/Monopod with Arca QR Ballhead delivers what every photographer is looking for--a solid professional tripod that folds down to a manageable size. This carbon fiber support will extend to 5.41' (1.65 m), but its minimum working height is less than a foot--10.6" (26.92 cm), and it folds down to 15.6" (39.62 cm) for storage and transport. Although it weighs just 2.8 lbs (1.27 kg), it can support up to 8.8 lbs (3.99 kg). The included quick-release ballhead has bubble levels and is Arca-compatible.
Plus, one leg of the tripod combined with the center column converts to a full-size monopod that extends to 5.58' (1.7 m) and collapses to 28.9" (73.4 cm). The 5 leg sections use a quick twist-lock design, and the tripod accepts optional accessory spiked feet for use on rough terrain.

Comments about Giottos VGR8255-S2N Carbon Fiber Tripod/Monopod with Arca QR Ballhead:
I'm currently enrolled in a Photo Imaging course and shooting with a tripod is a must to get constant sharpness when working with native ISO's and capturing images in low lighting conditions. This tripod is so light but very stable and only add very little weight to the already packed camera bag. If I were to suggest an improvement, that would be the screw-on tips/spikes on the legs. It should be designed so they don't come off easily. I almost lost one when it eventually unscrewed off while moving when changing perspectives. Now I check them from time to time and making sure they're tight in place. A little annoying.
Overall, I am happy with the product and have been endorsing it to others.

the only bad thing is that you have to remove the ballhead to put it back in the travel case

Quick easy to set up. Very stable, and very light. Will hold a camera that is over 6lbs. It's a 2 in 1 Tripod/monopod.

Comments about Giottos VGR8255-S2N Carbon Fiber Tripod/Monopod with Arca QR Ballhead:
I love this tripod. Sturdy for heavy cameras, small enough for travels. I shoot a 5d markii w/a battery grip so it can be heavy and bulky. But it does its job very well for what i ask for.

Comments about Giottos VGR8255-S2N Carbon Fiber Tripod/Monopod with Arca QR Ballhead:
Great quality, light and very sturdy. Use it with a Full frame + 24-70mm F2.8 Sigma (heavy) without any issue. Controls are simple and very smooth. Can flip it up-side-down to reduce overall length when closed. But, one of the legs (monopod one) is a bit harder to close than the others (sounds like air resistance). Conversion to monopod = nice feature for video, but requires the removal of the weight hook (simple). Overall, very happy.

Comments about Giottos VGR8255-S2N Carbon Fiber Tripod/Monopod with Arca QR Ballhead:
I got this one for 3 weeks now and it's a fantastic light tripod. Can take it anywhere, on my back bag or my bike bag. I use a Canon SLR with a 300 mm lens without any problems. The monopod function is a nice addition too. The head is very smooth and feel solid too. You can spend a lot more money on a carbon tripod, but this is a good investment, because you can bring it with you all the time!
