Dock your iPod, iPhone or iPad into the Sony RDP-XA700IP Dock for iPod/iPhone/iPad, and get ready to rock out to your playlists. This stereo speaker dock not only offers powerful sound with a total output of 60-watts, it lets you listen to your iTunes wirelessly with Airplay. That means no wires or cables to clutter up your space.
On the technical side, the RDP-XA700IP has a built-in subwoofer and two passive radiators to lend robust bass to all your audio selections. The damperless speakers work to provide incredible sound. While docked, your device will be charging so that it's ready to leave the house whenever you do. Plus, you won't even have to take its case off in order to dock it. And when you're ready to go, you can simply retract the dock for a finished appearance.
The Sony RDP-XA700IP Dock features S-MASTER digital amplification and Clear Phase Technology, which work together to bring you crisp, clear sound. By downloading a free app to your iPod/iPhone/iPad, you can benefit from a clock and select an audio emphasis like rock, pop, jazz, vocal or flat to enhance your music.
And last but not least, you won't be tied to the tunes of your playlists or streamed media -- since the dock has an auxiliary input, you can connect a CD player, smartphone, tablet, MP3 player or anything else with a line output. I was looking to get one of these to replace my bed room alarm clock and add to my DLNA/HomeShare setup. It's a network speaker but does not support the other protocol Sony pushing in their network speakers. I have the Sony STR-DN1020, two SA-NS500, and two SA-NS300 they work great as DLNA/HomeShare speakers, if i was to get this it would not work with the rest of the speakers. Maybe sony will make a RDP-XA710IP with the support, it seems what sony usually do instead of provideing network update to update already released devices.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have been looking for a wireless way to connect all my Apple devices to some kind of player device that is not HUGE in size but has a powerful bass sound even at low volume levels but not a boomy sounding. After reading a few different reveiws I decided to give the Sony one a try and I am glad I did. This audio system Rocks the house! Cost's a little more but I feel it is worth it. If you are technically slow you might have a hard time connecting up the WIFI but give it a try you should be fine.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
