The blue AC540BL Envoy Standard Messenger Camera Case from Ape Case is a bit larger than the AC520 version that holds a compact DSLR. This version holds a larger DSLR along with the same amount of gear and accessories. It's still a very affordable way to carry a minimum of gear - your DSLR with two lenses, flash and some accessories. Made from tough, water-repellent rip-stop nylon, the bag has a unique removable padded interior insert that, when not needed, can be set aside to increase its overall interior storage space.
Another benefit of the case is that it doesn't resemble your traditional camera shoulder bag - yet - it holds its share of equipment. There's plenty of extra space for accessories in the two zippered front storage pockets (one on top of the other) as well as two additional interior zippered pockets. All these pockets can be used for memory cards, batteries, cleaning cloths, filters or other small items.
Access to the contents is easy via the center zipper that exposes the interior that uses Ape's exclusive Hi-Vis yellow coloring that will make locating your gear easier when you're shooting in marginal light. The shoulder strap is fully adjustable and contains a cushioned contoured pad with non-slip grip. The AC540BL is backed by Ape's limited lifetime warranty against defects.

Holds my Canon Rebel T2i with attached Tamron 17-35mm zoom lens in center of bag between the two padded dividers with lens pointed downward. There is room on one side of the dividers for a Canon 100mm f/2 prime with lens hood attached and for either an additional lens, flash or accessories on the other side. Two zippered pockets in the main compartment are good for securing valuables: memory cards, portable hard drive, wallet, etc. I keep 2 additional batteries, charger, and other small accessories in outer zippered pockets. A 9.75" x 7.5" 200 page composition notebook fits nicely in the main compartment between the bag and the padded insert. The yellow interior contrasts nicely with black photo equipment, making it easier to see the contents. I removed the neck strap from my camera because it's so easy to grab the camera from the bag and stow it away. It doesn't look like a camera bag or a women's purse -- it's a good "man purse" for a photographer. The one improvement I would appreciate is the addition of a divider/support that would allow the camera and attached lens to be stowed on it's side with the lens pointed along the width of the bag.

I've been looking for the ideal camera bag for a couple of years and have finally found it. This bag is lightweight and fairly compact. I carry my Olympus camera with either a 100-300 or 12-60 lens attached, and the other in the bag along with a couple of filters, extra batteries, charger, a card reader and cable release. I can even fit my strap inside which is a bit bulky. There's also room for my iPad or Macbook Air and two pockets inside for keys, phone, wallet, etc. Everything in the bag is easily accessible and it's pretty comfortable to carry; although fully loaded, I would rather not have to carry it all day.
The padded camera insert can be removed and the bag can be used as a carry-on or day bag when not being used as a camera bag. The only feature I miss is an outside pocket for a water bottle and the ability to slide it on a wheeling suitcase handle.
I would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a versatile, lightweight bag.

Comments about Ape Case AC540BL Envoy Standard Messenger Camera Case (Blue):
This bag is exactly what I was looking for...a small bag great for carrying just the necessities and works great when you wanna be mobile and only carry what you need. I use the inner compartment to carry my Canon 60D with attached lens, battery charger, camera manual, and lens cleaning kit. The front compartment carries my few batteries, memory cards, card reader, cords, and still has room for extras. My only complaint is that the padded compartment that fits inside the bag only protects your camera from the bottom and sides...there is no protection from the top...it would be nice if there were some kind of padded flap or insert for added protection. I guess just don't ever drop the bag upside down...which shouldn't be an issue but you never know! Overall this bag is great and was exactly what I was looking for...compact, functional, and attractive.

I'm very happy with this camera bag. It fits my Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm lens attached, and an extra lens or 2 (although I wouldn't want to carry more than 1 spare lens as the bag can get weighty).
There are extra zippered pockets for accessories, or mobile phone and keys. Great for throwing over the shoulder so you can have your camera with you just in case a photo opportunity arises.
I have dropped the bag out of the back of my car and the camera and filters survived. I wish I could say the same for my sunnies...

This is a great little bag, perfect for an SLR and one additional lens. There are also lots of little pockets with zippers. I especially like the ones inside the bag as you can put things like money and passports and people can get to them. I also like that it doesn't look much like a camera bag, it just looks like a cute bag and is very comfortable to wear.

This bag delivers as promised... fits a DSLR (D90) with attached lens, plus two additional items (lens/speedlight). Ample zippered pockets for accessories and space to slide a micro softbox in folded position. Easy to find dark items inside brightly colored lining. Even when bag is full to capacity, shoulder pad is comfortable and adjusts. I've been waiting for a bag like this for a long time. It was out of stock so I signed up for a notification, got one from B&H in just a few days and ordered it right away. My guess is that this one will be in high demand.

This is a compact, lightweight bag that's easy to get in to - with a zipper across the entire top. Vital pieces, such as camera and lenses are protected by the divided foam insert, which is removable. The rest of the bag is soft and floppy, making the bag much less bulky than conventional camera bags. Another great advantage is that it doesn't look like a camera bag, so attracts little attention.
