Comments about FEISOL Traveler CT-3441S Rapid Tripod Legs:

I just received the tripod, so I cannot vouch for its long term reliability.

I bought the tripod to use with my Sony NEX kit while traveling. I did not really want to spend the money on a Gitzo or RRS travel tripod, so I decided to buy this based on the many favorable reviews in the internet.

I like the build quality quite a lot, tolerances are tight and nothing rattles. When I use it with my RRS BH-23 ballhead, I can fit the tripod nicely in the provided case.

My only complain - the legs seem to me to have the same weight as my RRS Versa TVC-24 tripod - so a bit heavy for a travel tripod. However, this is compensated by its small size, good quality build and relatively low price.

My NEX camera is rock solid on these legs, even with the extended column.

If the column is not extended, it is stable with my D800 + 24-70mm on it - for occasional use. If you are using big DSLRs with heavy lenses - I strongly recommend to look at a bigger tripod.

Comments about FEISOL Traveler CT-3441S Rapid Tripod Legs:

Thought I was getting my 3d CT-3441. Didn't do historical research on web to discover that the "S" inconspicuously appended to CT-3441S means SHORTER. I find the advertised "improvements" to this model wholly illusory (locking mechanism seems the same to me). But as a 6' photographer who doesn't like to extend the center section (less stability), the SHORTER height is a major disadvantage. In addition to being sneaky. Can't see why Feisol doesn't emphasize this -- I'd have ordered the lighter, taller 3441T, which I didn't previously need.

Comments about FEISOL Traveler CT-3441S Rapid Tripod Legs:

I was looking for a tripod that folds up short, light weight and well made for my backpack. This carbon tripod fits my needs. It is amazing how light it is. Even with the ball head on it folds up and hardly fits over the backpack. One thing I really like it is when extending the legs it only take a light touch to lock them in and the sets up in a jiffy. The center column works on the same principle estends and locks very easy. Now what I don't like; The angle of the legs are too narrow and doesn't give you the best support. I do mostly outdoor shooting so I got the leg spikes which will take care of that problem for me. The one thing that Fiesol should do is give you an "Owners Manual". They want you to go on line if you want one. Warrantee card? No such thing. Need to make sure you keep your receipt for warrantees (On line also). Though both are not real biggies it just makes it a lot easier, something Fiesol should think about. The carrying case is real nice except you only fit your tripod in it, no room for your ballhead. In all I really like my tripod. It fits perfect on my backpack and hardly notice it there when I hike. It's a top notch tripod for the price.
