I use this receiver in a a small home theater in my den, and it works great. The sound is excellent, and so is the picture. It has better connectivity than others in it's price range, offering component as well as HDMI ins and outs. A lot of bang for your buck.

This HDMI 3D passthru capable receiver is a nice entry level solution for surround sound listening with HD Movies. Most HD televisions do not have anywhere near the speaker requirements for great sound experience that these Blu-Ray disc's have to offer. This receiver allows the full set of sound effects and dialog to be heard without compromise.
My only issue with it is that it is indeed targeted to the Audiophile and setup can be a bit challenging. But with some patience it can be installed and setup to do exactly what is required. It is extreamly flexible in it's switching abilities and that adds a bit to the complexity but that is just another selling point.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR313 A/V Home Theater Receiver:

I have the receiver hooked up to my computer via the HDMI port on my ASUS GTX660 TI-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB PCI Express 3.0 x16 Video Card. The speakers being used are my Klipsch 5.1 surround sound speakers. (The amp on the Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 apparently had a power surge and doesn't work anymore.) So I hooked the speakers directly to the Onkyo TX-SR313. Then I connected the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of the video card to the HDMI port on the rear of the receiver (game port)and it sounds great. Took all of five minutes from unpacking the receiver to listening to some music. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and as soon as the HDMI cable was plugged into the video card, Windows picked up the connection and recognized the TX-SR313 as the primary sound device. I also listen to FM stations through the computer speakers and it sounds great. I have two other Onkyo systems throughout the house and I am really pleased so far with this one and have not found anything negative to post. The main intent of purchasing this unit was to hook it up to the computer for sound and it works great. Thanks B&H.

Great amplifier sound.I am a older audiophile.Would have got 5 stars, except, where onkyo had to cut corners on it's budject set, they did it on FM.This FM is O.K.e but falls short in sound, from other brands, such as Sony.I would recomend this onkyo for dvd-bluray use .Sound can be astonishing.

It is a nice unit and it is easy to set up etc.
The biggest negative is that it only syncs with other ONKYO devices. I may be wrong in reading the instructions. Aside from that I have no other complaints. The 4 HDMI inputs is just enough for me with DIRECTV and Blue ray dvd player. good sound quality through all speakers.

Bought this to replace a Sony receiver, the sound is deeper and richer. Consider the watts per channel may seem low but good sound for my bedroom. Plus watts isn't truly a measure of sound it's just for people to understand. Read the specs regarding Total harmonic distortion and ohms. That what matters most. Good price and good sound.

I have had 3 Onkyo receivers during the last 20 years. The first one lasted forver, and the second one still works great. I just needed to up grade to the sr 313 for the HDMI in puts on out put. I must say this receiver is awesome. For the cost it is big bang for your buck.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR313 A/V Home Theater Receiver:

I had an old RCA receiver that finally died and I needed a receiver that could accomodate 6 Ohm speakers, be able to accept composite input from my old VCR and DVD player until I can upgrade to a Blue Ray player with HDMI later this year. This fit the bill perfectly and worked with all of my old analog components but provided several HDMI ports to be able to upgrade my TV and add a Blue Ray player down the road. The setup was easy, basically plug and play with my old receiver, and the sound is just as good as my old system was. This is an inexpensive way to upgrade piece by piece if you have to accomodate older players like a VCR or Wii that use composite input connectors.

I've had Onkyo receivers for almost 20 years now -- they put out a good machine for a fair price.

I live in an apartment, so I wasn't looking for a whole-house system, but this has been perfect (for a week or so) carrying the load of a 50 inch Panasonic TV, 5.1 surround, a cable box, a dvd player and Apple TV. I can't give it 5 stars, bc it's tough to give something 5 stars before you've given it a chance to stop working . . .

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR313 A/V Home Theater Receiver:

I use this receiver in a a small home theater in my den, and it works great. The sound is excellent, and so is the picture. It has better connectivity than others in it's price range, offering component as well as HDMI ins and outs. A lot of bang for your buck.
