Set this unit up to replace a Yamaha that was not 3D compatible. I have all Polk speakers and the Onkyo powers them superbly. The switching within the Onkyo is great and the remote is intuitive and well laid out.

The only thing I am disappointed about is the fact that the receiver cannot mux out on the HDMI TV output the component input.
This should not be such a big deal to include in this high end product.

Comments about Onkyo TX-NR414 A/V Home Theater Receiver:

This unit replaced an older Onkyo home theater 5.1 receiver that I had for 12 years. Nothing beats the sound and quality of Onkyo products, in my opinion. Friends have other brands but I'm convinced Onkyo is the best. The full, rich, true sound and ease of use are it's best asset. This unit - TX-NR414 - has not disappointed. The only downside (and it's my fault for not checking) is that it does not have an A/B speaker connection. I have a pair of speakers in another room which I cannot use unless I use the Zone 2 output, connect it to another receiver and connect the speakers to that. No big deal though. It will just inspire me to buy another Onkyo unit for that room.

Comments about Onkyo TX-NR414 A/V Home Theater Receiver:

I purchased this unit for a customer who has a whole house sound system that is run off of a separate power amp receiving the pre-amp signal from the main surround sound amp. The amp worked perfectly. Very easy for the customer to change the input source on the main system as well as the Zone 2. The only thing that it would not do is up convert the analog signal from the DVD player to HDMI output. Had to get them a Blu-Ray unit instead. Most lower priced units do not up convert analog or component video to HDMI outputs. They do pass analog and component video out of the unit but you will need to change the TVs input settings every time you choose an analog or component device.

Overall this is a great unit that would do any surround system owner proud!
