The Minimus AA Variable-Output LED Headlamp from SureFire is a high-efficiency tactical LED headlamp that provides brilliant white light for any situation.
With an adjustable output from zero to 100 lumens, via the knurled no-slip right-hand control knob for a runtime of 50 minutes up to an hour and a half. It runs on either the two "AA" lithium batteries (included) or the more commonly found two "AA" alkaline batteries; the batteries are contained within the tilt-control knob. The tilt-control knob features a battery access cap with a short leash to prevent dropping or losing it.
The proprietary refractive optic produces a wide beam optimized for your natural field of view, and an optional red filter is sold separately (HSZ-FM-SET01 filter kit)) to provide adequate tactical lighting without ruining your dark-adapted vision. The inclusion of a long-running SOS beacon provides added safety features when needed most, and the fine-weave headband is strong yet comfortable. It features a moisture-wicking Breathe-O-Prene forehead pad.
Built from tough polymer and aerospace aluminum, hard-anodized in Desert Tan, the Minimus Tactical is lightweight, yet like other Minimus headlamps it is tough enough for the rigors of combat, caving, and mountaineering, and is submersible to 3 feet for up to 30 minutes.
Note! Runtime at highest setting is measured with two "AA" lithium batteries until output drops below 50 lumens; lowest setting is measured until output drops below 1 lumen.

Comments about SureFire Minimus AA Variable-Output LED Headlamp:
This is a great headlamp. It is very bright and I am a huge fan of Surefire products. It's also great that you can put AA batteries in it, vs. the expensive CR123 batteries that most of their flashlight line takes. It is pretty heavy though. It's built like a tank and after 20-30 minutes of wearing it causes a headache. I have multiple Petzl headlamps and they don't put out the amount of light that this Surefire headlamp does, but they are a lot more comfortable. It is an awesome headlamp but it is just too heavy for my tastes. I sent it back. Hopefully Surefire comes out with a lighter model.
