Questions? Ask our experts:

Rollei's Retro 80S is a slow-speed panchromatic black and white negative film with extended near-infrared sensitivity to 775nm. This additional red sensitivity helps to cut through haze or fog and also smooth skin tones and blemishes, making it ideal for portraiture. It has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 80/20° and is characterized by a fine grain structure and broad tonal range. It is coated onto a transparent polyester base, with anti-static coatings, that makes it well-suited to scanning applications.

Comments about Rollei Retro 80S Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

Love this film. Incredibly fine grain. Feels like shooting with a red filter. Amazing portraits. Narrow exposure latitude gives a high contrast look

Comments about Rollei Retro 80S Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

A fine grain, high contrast film that works into the near infrared. I like to use it with an Orange G or Red 25A filter, enhancing anything that reflects near infrared light. This gives a slightly ghostly hue to the resulting pictures, yet maintains an overall normal balance thanks to the visible light that does come through. Something of a companion to the Rollei/Agfa IR 400S film, the 80S being slower but finer. Restricted IR sensitivity means it does not fog in cameras using an infrared frame counter. Always produces striking images. Does need to be loaded/unloaded in subdued light to avoid light contamination.

Nice film

Comments about Rollei Retro 80S Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

Probably my third favorite B&W film (after FP4 and HP5). Very contrasty, very sharp, and a bit glowy, which makes portraits look great. Fun stuff for sunny days.

Comments about Rollei Retro 80S Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

The words "film" and "retro" may be strange words to young photographers who cut their teeth on digital images, mostly in color and often heavily manipulated. Retro 80S 35mm B/W film from Rollei/AGFA is the real deal, black and white photography in all of its stark glory. But there's a pearly glow to this film that digital pixels can never match. Think about movie 8X10 publicity stills, tight fine grain that makes human skin look alive, even in monochrome. I'm stockpiling this magical film in a special little refrigerator to keep it ready for its closeup. Digital is nifty, but shooting at 100 and pushing to 400 is alchemy!
