Questions? Ask our experts:

Digibase CN 200 PRO from Rollei/Agfa is a medium-speed daylight-balanced color negative film with a nominal sensitivity of ISO 200/24°. Its wide exposure latitude permits +/- 1 stop of exposure for greater flexibility and the high sharpness and fine grain structure make this film well-suited for enlargements. It is also characterized by vivid, yet accurate, color balance and a neutral tonal range. This unmasked film lacks the traditional orange mask of most color negative films, which makes it particularly ideal for scanning applications. The film's polyester base has been tested to an LE-500 (life expectancy 500 years) archival rating and also features anti-curling, anti-Newton ring, and anti-static coatings, as well as a special coating to promote smooth film transportation within the camera.

This item contains two 36-exposure rolls of 35mm film.

Comments about Rollei Digibase CN 200 PRO Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

This film has a great vintage look to it. To me, the colors are like my parents' Kodachrome slides from the early 70's. It's a good look when you want to get away from the Portra feel. If you're going somewhere exotic, grab a couple rolls, it'll look cool. Like the other reviews, you have to be careful loading, but it has a great look in bright sun. Don't use with a lens newer than 1970 to complete the look!

Comments about Rollei Digibase CN 200 PRO Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

Ordered the 2 roll container. I took them on a Route 66 road trip with 10 other rolls of B&W and color film. The first roll processed and received back had a terrible red tint on every 38 frames. Not sure what that is all about. I just sent in the other roll of this CN200 and waiting back to see after the processing. The other films I shot with the same cameras (Oly 4T and 2S) had no issues at all. I hope they are fine. I hate to lose any Route 66 photos.

I used this film for the first time shooting long exposures in very low light. I was quite pleased with the negative density, the color saturation and the image sharpness. I plan to use it again in the studio this weekend.

In an earlier review, I suggested this film might be closer to ISO 400 instead of 200. Anyway, I was wrong, haha. Definitely 200. :) Anyway, it's good stuff. Don't forget to load in low light.

Comments about Rollei Digibase CN 200 PRO Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

I tried this film for the first time, after shooting mostly ektar, portra and superia for years.

i put a roll in my Oly XA and the results were fantastic. Accurate colors but very rich and vibrant. Contrasty in the right amounts for my eye (maybe it's the XA's excellent lens!)

I also shot the other roll of film (it's a two-pack) in a Canon A2E with similar outstanding results.

I shot mostly outdoors in the middle of the day, summer in Texas in July so not the most ideal of conditions, but the film produced wonderful results nonetheless.

Comments about Rollei Digibase CN 200 PRO Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

I'm super-impressed with the roll of this stuff that I've shot. Very-fine grain, and wonderful warm colors that are neither over-saturated nor washed-out. Great for portraits. However, I do think it may actually be a bit closer to iso 400 than 200. Also, and here's the one negative: light leaks in through the film leader, so probably the first six frames after the leader will have light-leaks going on. But, if you plan for this and only assume that you'll get 30 usable frames instead of 36, you're good to go. So yeah, I recommend this film.

Comments about Rollei Digibase CN 200 PRO Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 2 Pack):

I had my first roll processed in a mini-lab. I just get develop-only and take the negs home to scan. I usually tell the lab to cut my negatives for me because my scanner works with strips of four. This film is thicker than regular film, and their cutter wouldn't work. I had to take it home and cut it with scissors, which I think is a pain.

The negatives scanned really well. The pictures looked, if anything, better than most rolls I get developed at the mini-lab. I think this film has real potential.

I shot this in an old Zeiss Ikon 24x24 camera and I really like the results. Nice, vivid colors, the transparent base makes it easy to scan. But you must remember to keep it in very low light when loading and unloading because the light leaks in through the base. It even sneaked in through the sprockets a bit.
