Use the Digital AV Adapter from Apple to mirror content from your compatible Apple devices onto an HDTV or other HDMI-enabled display. The adapter supports up to 1080p HD resolution, and sends digital audio to screens that support it. Simply connect the 30-pin connector to your device, and the HDMI connector to your display. A second 30-pin connector is built into the adapter, which allows you to charge and sync your device while it's connected to the display. This adapter is great for corporate and educational environments, or if you just want to enjoy your apps, videos and games on a larger screen.

I use this with the iPhone 4S, Ipad 2, and The New (3rd gen) iPad. Make sure you note the revised Apple nomenclature for this adapter. Apple doesn't even mention this improvement. The photos for both the original and new versions look identical because the squeeze-to-release lock buttons are recessed in edges of the plug. You even have to look very closely while holding it to see the tiny crack outline around the buttons. This is a long-needed improvement because some heavy, stiff HDMI cables pull on the plug, pulling it out from the device. Also note that "mirroring" only works with iOS 5.1 or higher and not on the current (4th generation) iPod Touch. Mirroring may also only work on the iPhone 4S. Some applications on devices other than the iPod may require them to be actively "playing" as in a slideshow or videos to "wake up" the HDMI input on the connected display. HDMI can be a flakey, frequently unstable interface for some displays and other devices just as the first Apple FireWire is (and Sony's iLINK), regardless of whether it's an Apple product or any other brand of cable, adapter, and device. The solution, beside having the latest iOS update, is making the connection as short and direct as possible as well as learning that you may have to "wake up" the display by reconnecting the cable (I installed a switch just to avoid that) or find out what works for you (power-cycle or switch between inputs on your display). The ultimate solution is to substitute another model or display/TV. If you take your device and adapter with the connecting cable into an [@] it will most likely work fine with their equipment because they have selected the display or TV that they know works with the Pod, Phone, and Pad. Don't blame [@]for the incompatibility.

Comments about Apple Digital AV Adapter:
This is a great product. I bought it to stream movies to the tv from my ipad, after researching the best way to do that. It is very easy to connect, and the picture quality is fine. Best of all, it is easily portable. I took it on a recent trip and was able to use it in both hotels. When I needed help negotiating the tv hookup in one hotel, the maintenance person who helped me wanted to know where I got it because it was the best cable he had seen for that purpose.

Product is exactly as listed. It is truly Apple. Delivered as promised - on time and in excellent condition. B&H has always been the best - from the camera I purchased back in the 90s and still today. PERFECT! Thank you B&H.

Comments about Apple Digital AV Adapter:
We use it to stream Netflix to HDTV instead of using AppleTV. Has little release tabs on sides so it won't pull out of the iPad. Make sure you know your generation of iPad before buying an AV adapter. Apple's part numbers are confusing.

Make sure you get the correct model for your ipad, this one works seamlessly with the ipad 3rd gen. Overpriced but there doesn't seem to be non apple versions yet.
