The SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC) by Genaray is built around a 10-100% dimming fixture with a 60° beam angle. 1,144 LEDs output an impressive brightness equivalent many times its nominal 75W rating.
In a field dominated by rectangular or square arrays Genaray has made the wise choice of making their studio lights circular. Not only does the increased surface area have more wrap-around light characteristics but the shape renders pleasing, natural-looking catchlights in your subject's eyes. And if you're doing portraiture you can soften the SpectroLED-14's output while widening its native 60 degree coverage by slipping the included 3/4 stop diffusion sock over the reflector. Heat is never a concern since the cool-running SpectroLED-14 is barely warm to the touch. Another way to soften the quality of light is the umbrella socket that's built into the mount. You can use reflective or translucent umbrellas for bounce or shoot-through effects. The socket accepts 7.0 or 8.0 mm shafts and the mount has a 65 degree tilting range for perfect placement.
Power is provided by the included Multi-voltagen Power Supply/Adapter. The inclusion of a cigarette lighter adapter cord also gives you the option of using 12V batteries for convenience or location shooting. You can run the SpectroLED-14 for approximately 70 minutes on an average fully charged battery. Not only are you saving money every time you use the SpectroLED-14 due to its low current draw, but with a 50,000 hour lamp life the SpectroLED-14 is virtually maintenance-free.
Note: runtime is approximate depending on battery selected

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC):
I bought the kit here on B&H that included two of the Spectro-LED 14's and one 9 for a hairlight.
They are bright and are running at 5500K according to my meter. The eye doesn't notice the difference when used in conjunction with daylight fluorescent bulbs. I have a large studio (25 x 30) and I use daylight fluorescents for the main room lighting and wanted to try these for the direct lighting and they work great. They are insanely bright without the included diffusers, but WITH the diffusers on they are a bit less harsh. It's difficult to have them in your forward view without the diffusers, about like looking at the sun indirectly.
One thing I don't like, AT ALL, is the noticeable high pitched WHINE that they put out whenever they are in between the lowest and highest setting. At either end, they are totally silent, but in the middle, they are irritating as hell.
All in all, I'd say they are a fantastic value. They are made out of a really high quality polymer plastic that sounds like aluminum when you tap on it, and feel light but still very sturdy.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC):
I have been very very weary of purchasing LED light kits. Generally the reviews are all over the place and more often than not, the cheaper LED kits are cited as easy to break. Upon seeing these I was skeptical, Genaray is part of Gradus Group which owns many other brands like Impact and Ruggard. But most of their brand's equipment is highly reviewed at BH so I took a gamble and picked up this kit.
It is great. It's bright, cool, and easy. I have only one complaint though, the lights hum. At the brightest and dimmest settings, the hum is quieter but anywhere in between it becomes very apparent. It is consistent and high pitched enough that it should be easily removed in any sound recording but I was really hoping for silent operation. For the price and their performance, I can look past this hum, even if it drives the best boy crazy.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC):
First the upside: excellent build quality, superb output, astounding value. Now, about the only downside I've experienced: On both of my units, when dimming down between roughly 20% and 80%, I notice a subtle but slightly annoying very high-pitched hum coming from the light. Any level below 20% or above 80% is perfect, yet in that roughly 60% range, there's a definite hum within a few feet of the light ... loud enough that my talent has asked what the noise was as they walked past it. Still, I'm willing to forgive this annoyance, because otherwise this LED bank is simply amazing.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC):
I was a little apprehensive about purchasing since it's so much cheaper than the high end LEDs but after two shoots really satisfied with these (I purchased two of the 14s and one of the smaller 9s). Nice strong steady light and the dimmers work great. Slight high pitched frequence noise at mid dim level but not enough to pick up on mics. And the white nylon cover it comes with that can be used to diffuse worked great.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC):
Great out put! I have used these lights twice and highly recommend them. Great quality for the price. I do video production and I looked for quite a while for an LED that was not going to break the bank, but give great light. I shoot mostly on location and these lights are perfect. Light weight, sturdy and bright. Quick to set up and break down. I recommend umbrellas to give your self more options. I also gel then when shooting indoors when mixing light sources.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC):
These lights are awesome! They are extremely lightweight, and completely fill up my studio with well balanced LED daylight. The dimmer switch comes in handy, and the lights were simple to put together. I had my lights up and running just five minutes after i took them out of the box. i highly recommend these to anyone looking for quality led lights. Not to mention the round lights give a very realistic look in the subjects eye, opposed to square lights.
