Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Windows is the industry-standard tool for professional digital image editing. Greatly expanded for this CS6 version, the software's tool set now includes a Content-Aware Patch, which lets you pick a sample area to be used to fix problem areas, with sophisticated pixel blending to keep everything looking natural.
Photoshop uses a powerful layer-based approach for image editing. Using layers allows you to make adjustments to images without modifying aspects of an original. You can modify layer opacity and order, aiding in compositing tasks. Photoshop keeps track of each change you make to an image, allowing you to undo actions with ease. With CS6 you can now search layers, and use layers to modify vector graphics (adding gradients, for instance) in the same ways you use layers with photographic imagery.
Image editing is now accelerated by the Mercury Graphics Engine, which leverages technology from the playback engine that drives the video-editing application Premiere Pro. The Mercury Graphics Engine of Photoshop CS6 powers the blur gallery, the crop tool, and the Lighting Effects Gallery. Other performance enhancements include background saving, which allows you to continue working while large files are being saved, and auto-recovery, which automatically saves your work every 10 minutes to safeguard it against any system crashes.
Of course Photoshop CS6 includes all the familiar features that you've come to expect from this ubiquitous program, including HDR image creation, color-correction tools, support for a broad range of file types including RAW images, and compositing. Tightly integrated with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop is a must-have program for any serious photographer, designer, or digital artist.

I bought this to edit my photos. I bought CS6 to replace my Photoshop elements 10. there is so much more I can do with this but there is still a lot to learn. I'm looking forward to finding the power this program has. I did watch a lot of tutorials on CS6 before purchasing it which helped a lot.

Bought CS6 after using Photoshop Elements for a number of years and couldn't be happier. There is a steep learning curve but totally worthwhile.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Windows:
I recently purchased a super-wide, fisheye lens. Adobe Photoshop CS6 has a great "Adaptive Wide Angle" module in it's drop-down Filters menu. There, I can optionally and selectively straighten some or most of the curvy, artsy distortion inherent in a circular fisheye photo, and produce a more traditional rectangular image.
I've also started using more High Dynamic Range post-edit processing. Again, CS6 has the tools to deal with difficult exposures using HDR techniques.
Up to recently, I'd been able to get by with the free software that came with my camera, and with lower priced photo-editing packages. But my photography interests have grown, and Adobe Photoshop CS6 made sense for the added creative value.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Windows:
I am a professional photographer, I count on Photoshop to fix those annoying little problems that occassionally pop up in photos. Having used Photoshop since Version 4, I find that most of the upgrades are ones I often said, I wish photoshop would do this or that. And Boom, next thing they up grade with my wish. I would like to have the book by Adobe for the version also available at the same time. I hate gooing from book store to book store looking for instructions book for the software I buy.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Windows:
The new content aware tools have definitely made it easier to edit my numerous photography mistakes. For me, it starts with camera raw. The new layout is way more intuitive to me. Start at the top and work down. This software has way more features than I know how to use, but I'm still learning. The Kelby Training and Lynda videos are great if you're just getting into photography like me. The content aware patch is one of the most useful in the suite. I'm not that great of a photographer, so I rely on PS to help me get rid of distracting stuff that takes away from my images. The new crop is frustrating sometimes, but I'm going to leave it on default and se if I get used to it.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Windows:
I use CS6 for tweaking the photos I take of 1/35 scale models, 1/4 scale movie related statues, and wild life photos I take while on holidays. With the purchase of CS6 I have jumped up from Photoshop 6 and what jump it was. But despite all of the improvements (which I still exploring)it still has a much welcomed familiar feel to it. I do a lot of "Levels" tweaking and cloning out or cutting out unwanted background and I was able to jump right back in despite the large gap in versions. Love this product and it will always be my go to editing program. The only serious drawback for me is the price. But hey that's what B&H is for. They had a wicked 24 hour sale that I jumped on immediately.

Comments about Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Windows:
I am not a graphics guy I probably couldn't draw a convincing stick man in Photoshop. BUT for photography it is great, the new sharpening tools are brilliant and the correction for wide angle is amazing.
I always flinched at the price but for make sure those pictures you captured with expensive equipment looks it best this is a great purchase.

Sure it's not cheap, and it is expensive. But with the right computer and once you learn your way around it there isn't anything you can't do. From repairing and colorizing old photos to turning your latest failures into a work of art. You can start with the cheaper Photoshop Elements (as I did) and learn the basics and then with that foundation move on to this master program. There are so many plug-ins and additional fonts and helpful online tutorials and a forum where others can help you learn things you never thought possible. The sky is the limit and is reachable to each of us according to how far we want our creativity to take us. Like Grandma Moses, you can still teach an old dog new tricks. You are never to old to learn something new.

This was an upgrade for me from Elements 9, and boy what a difference! I immediately noticed how much better this program was, and how much more powerful it is. I would recommend this to anyone who is sitting on the fence, or (like I was) feels Elements will "get the job done". You don't know what your missing.
