The Wescott Umbrella Diffuser for Parabolic Umbrella is a white full stop diffuser that fastens to the front of the 7.0' White, Silver or Black/White Parabolic Umbrellas via hook and loop fasteners. It yields a quality of light similar to a very large Octabank.

Recently at a class seminar we practiced using the parabolic umbrella. The light was great for the way it spread out and could light a group plus the background! (Great for weddings!)but I didn't like the harshness of it. With the front diffuser panel the light becomes much less specular. I am thrilled with this product and will buy another one for my other umbrella. Thanks Westcott!

I bought this diffuser to put over my Westcott 7-foot parabolic umbrella. In fact I've been waiting anxiously for a long time for this diffuser to come out. Very nice quality of light and I knew I would love it. However, at the end of my first session, I found that the diffuser had a small melted hole in the fabric where it attaches to my Alien Bee 1600. It may have been user error, since it was my first time using it and there were no instructions included with the diffuser. I'm wondering if I'll have to purchase another diffuser because there could be a light leak. I might sew a piece of non-flammable white fabric over the hole which is only about 2 inches in diameter, to cover the light leak. I'm only going to use the modeling lamp for short durations to prevent this from happening again.I love the fact that this large diffuser folds up very small and it's light. The diffuser is held onto the perimeter of the Westcott 7-foot umbrella by elastic, which I'm guessing, means eventually the elastic will give out. It was easy to attach to the umbrella. To attach the diffuser to the light head, there is a drawstring. I've only used this diffuser one time so only time will tell how durable it is.The price is right too at about [$]. Some diffusers sell for 2-3 times more. Some are much, much more, for instance a Profoto diffuser for a 7 foot reflector is [$]

This gives you a nice very large defused light for a lot less money. This will fit other 7' umbrella, not just a Westcott. It slips over the edges with elastic.

I have the black and silver 7' umbrella and until I bought this I thought its light was harsh. I didn't use it as much as I thought I would. I put this diffuser on it an I got the beautiful light I thought I should. I've only had it for 2 weeks and already used it in 6 shoots both indoors and out.
