Not much to say about this.. it's a rechargeable battery. Get it if you don't want to wait to charge just the 1 battery that comes with the OM-D. Also get it if you have the battery grip from Olympus as it is nice to double your photo time without swapping out batteries midway through. I would have tried one of the generic cheap brands, and I'm pretty sure they'd hold up well, but most require another charger and I just didn't want to deal with carrying around and juggling chargers and batteries, so I stuck with the pricier Olympus brand.. hey, at least you know it should work without a problem.

After a long wait, due from various reports to tsunami aftermath and fiscal problems at Olympus, a second battery for the OMD EM5 finally arrived. Not inexpensive at $[$], but a necessity for shooting more than 3 hours at a time. What this battery is sorely missing, especially considering the price and the fact that one will want to have it nearby on most shooting excursions, is some sort of plastic cap to protect the terminals.

You can never have enough juice. You're constantly reviewing off the LCD can drain the battery charge so having a spare is a must.

I need a spare battery, but bought it with some reluctance. It is a very good battery, with a reasonable capacity. Years ago the industry got together to produce the JPEG standard, why can't they do it with Li-ion batteries?

Comments about Olympus BLN-1 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery (1220mAh):
I'm glad to have an extra battery for my Olympus OM-D E-M5. I LOVE the camera, I downsized from a Canon 5D, but the downside to a smaller camera is that the components are, well smaller.
I'd rather pay a bit more for a genuine Olympus battery that will charge with the same charger that came with the camera, than get a less expensive third party battery that requires its own charger.
